I know, it's not Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, or even Panthers. It's the Florida Launch, South Florida's own professional lacrosse team. Playing eight home games a season at FAU in Boca, tickets can be well below twenty dollars a piece. Not familiar with lacrosse? In many ways it is the oldest and newest sport around. Lacrosse was played by Native American Iroquois in the Northeastern United States. At the same time it is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States right now, especially in youth athletics. It seems that every new person I meet has their kid in lacrosse! I think you have to actually watch a lacrosse game to appreciate it. The kids love it because they get to pass the ball with big sticks. It has elements of soccer and hockey. It is fast and physical, usually with more scoring than hockey and baseball. The Launch, started by Casey Powell, one of the best lacrosse players ever, had their inaugural season in 2014. The crowds have definitely increased this year, although I can't say they are filling half of lower bowl at the FAU stadium. It is a fun family event for the kids and anyone who lives or is interested in the game. I am always impressed that the the players always take lots of time to sign autographs after the games. Sometimes they can be there for an hour signing the kids' balls, hats, shirts, and even sticks! It certainly makes the kids even more enthusiastic about coming to the games and gives the whole experience a true hometown, warm, "feel good" experience. Perhaps some of our other professional sports teams could learn from that! The Launch has done a better job of marketing this year with ticket packages and youth clinics. Believe it or not you can check out their games and other MLL games on ESPN! If you like what you see, you may want to come and check out a game in person. There are two more games left for the season...and then there is always next year!

I never had season tickets to the games but always accept last minute free tickets from friends. The pre-paid parking passes are like gold and almost as costly. The Hard Rock Stadium is a cool name but most of my experiences here were during the Joe Robbie Stadium banner. Fun times at the games where I only will splurge on a $20.00 can of domestic beer with an oversized salted pretzel. the atmosphere during the games are exhilarating whether up in the nosebleed section or down on the lower level fifty yard line. Guys, please at least get to the playoffs in 2026 - fingers crossed.

Their first season was the year I graduated from High School 1966! I've attended games at both the original stadium and the Hard Rock Stadium. It's hard for me to be a fan of any other Professional Football Team because my Father was a Dolphin's fan and my Uncle is still a huge fan. I might add that my daughter follows in their footsteps. The booths and food trucks, for day fans, offer a lot of great choices. Getting off of the freeway is a bear, but parking is easy. Last year here, before the move to Miami. I'll miss it. The generally bad reviews here come from people who don't read the rules about bringing non - clear bags into the stadium. InterMiami didn't invent the rule. They deal with the FIFA rules that are actually even more strict. Read the rules. Get over it. Has someone who has watched MLS grow, you are now seeing world class soccer here. In 24 years the league has moved up in talent with hundreds of billions of dollars being spent on the developmental Academy, like the one behind the temporary stadium. Young players are exposed to playing with young players from the Premier league Clubs. We had homegrown players in team World Cup who make less than $100,000 a year who are giving players who make $100 million a year a bad time. As this progresses, things will only get better. The rating here is very skewed. This is easily South Florida 's most enjoyable outdoor team sport. It joins hockey as a real deal, which is highly ironic given that this is South Florida. Much better than sitting crammed in, like tuna ,over at Hardrock stadium, to watch another "fish" that hasn't been good since Don Shula retired. We're waiting for the Heat to finally spend some money on a big draw player.

We took the trolley and it took us forever to get to the drop off. If you are going to promote patrons taking public transportation you should have dedicated lanes for and drop off for said public transport. Once dropped off, even though you are a couple hundred yards away from the stadium, you have to walk all the way around for at least 15 minutes to get in. The stadium itself is new so that's nice but nothing really exciting about it. If anything, it's pretty basic. From the upper level seats, you can't see the big screen and the air flow up there is horrendous. On a hot July evening, it was like a sauna up there. Again, the food is crazy pricey but I guess that's to be expected. Not a fan of almost everything being some sort of self check out. The experience wasn't horrible but it wasn't good so I was hoping to leave early and beat traffic out cause I expected an even worst shyt show leaving But the game itself was close so we stayed And I was right. The concourse gets super packed. The exits send you in the opposite direction of where you want to go. The trek back to the trolley pick up is treacherous. If you don't critical mass across the street, you can get stuck waiting for an endless amount of cars. And then when you finally get to your trolley pick up, there is no way for the trolleys to get there since they have blocked off the route. I saw at least three trolleys approach the stadium and then turn around because I can only assume they had no other choice. My kids are getting tired and hot from all the walking. It's 11pm, an hour past the time the game ended and nothing. We had to get an expensive uber to get home.

Watching them practice only to have 5 (at 3:15) minutes of want to get your autograph and have most of the team not come... Well.. For me it is been there doene that! Would not recommend to others. I've consistently attended camp before they closed off the near parking garage for students; before the practice bubble; before the covered VIP bleachers; waaaay before Stephen Ross; toward the end of the Don Shula era On my most recent visit, I felt inclined to express how different the experience has become. Long gone are the days of a welcoming training camp; when I used to park right next to the practice fields. This event used to be open admission. Granted, we don't have to pay for tickets, but it's more of a hassle now. The practice bubble. Oh God, the practice bubble. A light sun shower started to come down & the team went inside for a "5min cooling break." A cooling break?! Give me a break! I get that the NFLPA is much more active nowadays & may perhaps have something to do with it. But damn. The pansification of football extends to the training camp experience. Two-a-day practices used to be open to the public. The media is now covering from the stands. Blocking spectators from their views. What the hell is that about?! They used to be confined to the one maybe two towers on field. Where are these fools coming from? Ugh. Despite all this, I will still come out & support my team when I can. But damn. I can't really say the changes have been for the better when it comes to the training camp experience.

South Florida Club Sport, formerly known as The Miami Sports and Social Club, was the first…read moreorganization to put organized coed soccer on the Miami map (among other sports, but if you know me well then you know soccer is the only sport that counts in my book). Before most of these soccer fields and adult leagues popped up around the Miami area, South Florida Club Sport was setting up soccer leagues at the KSP field (even before it expanded and is what it is today) and let me tell you, they know how to organize sports very, VERY well. I've played in several leagues for SFCS from 2005 till now and that just shows you how awesome they are. Not only was it a great way for me to stay in shape but the best part about it was I also met and made lifelong friends through the various leagues I joined throughout the years. Additionally, I've had many interactions with the owner of the company, Steve Arsenault, and he is nothing short of professional as well as friendly. He's always open to feedback from the league members so if you ever find yourself thinking of ways to improve the league you're playing in, just reach out to him and he'll be all ears. He also tries to set up other social events and trips for the league members which is always appreciated and enjoyable. What else is there to say except that this company has consistently established solid leagues for all kinds of sports and has brought the Miami community together in a social and fun way. If you're new to Miami or a native Miamian (Broward County counts, too), make it a point to join one of their leagues. You will not regret it! Their motto to me should be, "SFCS - making adult soccer leagues cool since the early 2000s."
