We took our (3) year old on a weekday afternoon and we spent about an hour and a half walking around, enjoying private guided tours and reading all about the museum and its history. The Boca Raton Children's Museum is located in one of the oldest homes in Boca Raton, (1913) Singing Pines. The home was originally owned by Boca Raton pioneers Mamie Myrick and her daughter, Aldah Myrick who had one of the first automobiles in Boca Raton. In 1917 the house was sold to its next owners Nellie and George Race. Their daughter Race Williams named the house Singing Pines because of the sound the wind made when going through the pine trees on the property. Race entered a nursing home and passed away in 1979. The house was moved to Memorial Park in 1976 and the name Singing Pines was changed to Children's Museum when it opened with it's first exhibit Pioneer Kitchen. The museum is very small but wonderful for toddlers and the preschool set. Admission is $5. The different play stations are Ricketts Corner Store which gives children the opportunity to play store in a recreation of Boca Raton's first grocery. KidsCents Bank Sponsored by First Southern Bank has bank teller windows and a vault so kids can practice their money skills. Oscar's Post Office gives children the opportunity to make postcards for a friend. Dr. Dig's Back-Porch has fossils and a puzzle. The Children of the Wilderness demonstrates the pioneer history of Singing Pines.There is also a pirate ship and fort outdoor exhibit and water tables for water play which are sponsored by FPL. This little museum is filled with old fashioned charm. What a wonderful place to get kids to put down the tablets and just play and interact. I love how this historic home has been transformed into a place of play and learning for children. I think that the civic leaders and pioneer women who occupied the home would be happy that it is continuing in this way. I had a lot of great times in this museum with my daughter who is grown now. I especially loved coming for the Halloween party. I was glad to see that they are not only going strong but expanding and increasing their programs for the public. read more

Located not far from FAU, this museum is located inside a small historical home. A $5. Donation per person is required. Several small activity rooms have different themes to keep children occupied. The grocery store is the favorite where an assortment of play foods keep the shoppers busy. Even a check out register with play money is available. The music room has a lit up piano as part of the floor. Kids can step on the keys to play music. Story time is housed in a Storytelling Tent. Children sit on floor pillows on a rug around the story teller. A climbing gym is available for toddlers to climb and slide down. Crayons,pencils and paper are available for little artists to use. A counter with benches for the art area are provided. There is a shaded playground area outside in the front where kids can go on wooden gym equipment. The parking lot is on the backside of where the entrance is and there are not a lot of signs on where the main entrance is. There are some nice activities outside surrounding the museum like a bubble play sink, pirate ship and water table. The interior has about six rooms to explore but honestly it feels like a glorified daycare center than any sort of museum educational learning place. The staff could provide more information and a complete wipe-down of disinfectant would be a great start. read more

Such a hidden gem! We came to the area for a meeting and enjoyed this cute place a lot. I will agree with one of the reviews saying this place is suitable for young kids, ages 1-3 or 1-4 (I called upon arrival, they said it's good for 6-7 years of age- not so sure about that). I went there with my 5 years old and 1 year old though, they've had a great time. Just to clarify, we're big fans of museums, this place is definitely not a museum,is a play-space. read more

Visiting from Charlotte NC before Dorian forced us to leave. First off, IMHO this place is a play center, not a museum. Is it slightly unkempt? A little. Are they 107 year old buildings? Yes. Did my 25.5 mos old have a blast? YES. We didnt even get out of the first little building. We stayed in it for the duration of our visit. Two big fire trucks sealed the deal. He also loved the little grocery store. If you're trying to teach your toddler the history of buzz light year, use google. If you wanna have fun and just kill a few hours, go here. As the parents of 2 children ages 2.5 and 4.5, my husband and I found this wonderful place to take our girls. The Boca Children's Museum is perfect for little explorers and their siblings/friends. The staff are 100%always courteous, caring, and truly invested in the nurturing of young minds and bodies. My husband and I can both attest to this as educators within Palm Beach and Broward County. Miss Nancy recently helped our family celebrate my nephew's 2nd birthday, and it went off without a hitch and was beautifully put together in their events room on site. The children had a blast with the hands-on manipulative centers, arts & crafts area, and science centers. Their favorite birthday activity was definitely the story time circle! We cannot rave enough about this wonderful property, the experience we have when we go, and the wonderful staff that care for the families who come to visit! read more

There has Been a lot of activity going on at the Museum in the last six months. From new programs like mommy and me classes to paint and wine, to the Super Hero Walk and Party on Oct 10. There is a new interest in the community after the announcement that the Museum will go through some renovations and debut new interactive exhibits and programs for children and adults. This museum is more like a house converted into an indoor playground and playroom. It is very cute and has a homey feeling. Each section of the house has a different theme - ie. kitchen, doctor's office, transportation - that is filled with toys and pretend play things. For a very reasonable price, it is a great place for kids to explore different kinds of toys and scenarios. They also have arts and crafts workshops conducted by local artists. It would be a great place for parents to take a mini break (ie. check your email) but the place is so cramped there really is no place for parents. There is no place to sit or even stand because you will feel like you are in everyone's way. Older kids of 3 and up will be more likely to have a good time there, especially when it is busy. They can be more independent so the parents don't have to be looming around the doorways. So, it is a pretty fun place for kids. But why am I only giving it a 3 star? First of all, the toys are not well maintained and there is no order in this place. Half of the doctor's kit cannot be found and the train set is about to come off the table. While most of the parents who were there while we visited get their kids of help put the toys back, I expect there to be more orderly clean up. I think there should also be a no food or juices and socks only place so that the toys and can be kept clean. The verdict: We would like to visit again but unlikely to be on our frequent list. For the baby: It is really more for the kid so they loved it. Definitely check it out, especially if you have a kid who can't get their mind off that one toy they saw at the store. read more

I go to the BRCM probably once or twice a week. My daughter, who's going to turn 2, enjoys it. There's some cute things there but let me be very clear, it's Not a museum, it's a mini indoor playground. It's an old house adapted for kids to play. It has 5 different little rooms with different themes, so the "museum" thing can be misleading. In the summer or weekends it is incredibly CROWDED, so it's hard to even walk around to follow your kid. First thing in the morning is the most organized obviously , but I've been around 3pm as well and even though is a little Messy, my kid still has fun. Having saying this, let me get to the staff. The guy at the front desk is fairly nice, he greets you, and checks you in with a good smile. There's 2 other ladies that I've seen around, which are not nice at all. The lady that reads story time, is not a very pleasant staff member. She NEVER greets you, no good morning, no nothing, you don't exists, and she always gives me the impression that she gets bothered because the kids are Moving toys from room to room (it's a playground ...) I've had a couple interactions w her and she is just rude. Same with the "Spanish teacher". They have like an attitude. Forget about good morning , good afternoon. I'm not sure if they don't like what they do or if they are just having bad days very often but it's a little ridiculous. However, if you are able to ignore them, and deal with a packed old house full of toys for your toddler to get out some energy for 1:30 hrs.. it's not bad. As I said, the toys/games are perfect for toddlers. 3 years old tops. Older than that I don't see how they can keep entertained more than 10 minutes and then they start running around and pushing the little toddlers that are playing. Getting a membership here is necessary if you have small children! My 2 and 4 year old LOVE this place. Tons to do inside and out, they can play here for hours!!! My 4 year old loves to play pretend and goes grocery shopping, pretends to be a vet, etc.. My two year old is more interested in running around outside and climbing on things. There's something for everyone. Another amazing thing about it is that they seem to change the place around quite frequently. Was looking for an indoor playground so I can contain Zachy as I finish a deadline for work. I thought it was gonna be a museum where artifacts are gonna be displayed, but it ended up being an awesome place filled with different play areas and different types of toys and activities. Zachy ended up joining an art class, and a crafts class. I love how the staff starts playing with the kids and they're very accommodating. Ms. Nancy is just wonderful. What an adorable hidden gem in East Boca! We took our almost 2 year old here for a birthday party and got to explore the museum as well as the party space. While the museum is small, it's a wonderful place for children to play and explore. There are multiple themed rooms that will keep the kids busy for a couple of hours. Everything is clean and organized, and the best part is that it's well air conditioned so it's a perfect for an alternative to playing outside on a hot Florida day! I can't forget to mention how adorable the buildings are. You can tell this place has some great history, as it's located on a "campus" with several adorable charming little wooden houses that seem to carry some old Boca history. I look forward to returning here with my son so that he can explore, learn, and play! read more

Very "just ok". We arrived while a bday party was inside so I'm sure the cramped quarters affected my first impression but it wasn't good (and likely against fire codes). Fortunately, the party moved outside within a few minutes of our arrival which made us willing to stay. My kids (4&6) enjoyed the activities available, specifically the vet and sensory rooms. We were disappointed that the "water play" area was shut down. It was worth one visit bc the kids had fun but it's not worth the price of admission for my husband and I (yes, adults pay too). For visitors of the area (as we were), I'd recommend spending your time at one of the other options but, if I lived in the area, I would just call in advance to miss bday parties and make sure all exhibits are open. read more

Everyone is super sweet and welcoming and the museum is like going to a toy store and getting to open and play with the best of the best toys. We can seriously spend 2-3 hours there almost everyday. I love the idea of this place. My child has fun most times we visit however, the staff lately are so unfriendly -- don't even expect a welcome at the door -- and they do not maintain the place during the day. So unless you get here super early expect a crazy mess. I was there today and couldn't even walk without stepping on toys. Kids were falling on items left all over the place. Parents let their kids roam and go crazy while they have their heads in their phone. So often kids fight here over toys. They used to clean periodically as kids played to at least keep things somewhat together. I have also stayed late past closing and seen them clean and they do not sanitize or wipe down items. I hope things get better. I think it's a staff issue honestly. We love it in the mornings when it's just been cleaned and not so many kids arrive but caution if you will be arriving late. read more

Needs a good cleaning fresh paint and updated toys. Felt that I was at a thrift store play ground from the 1980s. Was very disappointed.

I wasn't at all impressed and maybe it's because I've already been to Playtown Cafe. This isn't much of a museum. It looks cute on the outside, but indoors, it's basically an old house filled with old toys. There's a "bank" room, "grocery store" room, a dress up room- and the rest is room filled with miscellaneous old toys. I'm not a fan of indoor playrooms after getting sick from going to one. This is no different from one of them. $5 per person to get in (children 1 year+, $5). I spent the whole time picking up toys and putting them away after my little one, as the signs in each room kindly ask you to do so. Very tiring, in a very small space. read more

Everything about this place is so wonderful! The play rooms are so much fun. And the attention to detail is just great. It is very clean, the staff is so nice and helpful. Today was amazing with coach Josh with the sports clinic. It was only $5 because I am a member but for $5 it was amazing my grandchild really learned a lot. Terrible, don't waste your time or money. They charged me to carry in my 7 week old baby who clearly wouldn't be taking part in any activities. Very small. Very crowded. If you have toys for your kids at home you're better off staying there for free and clear of all of the germs. This place was recommended to me from a mommy group on Facebook. I went with my two kids and absolutely enjoyed our stay. So much so that I ended up booking my daughters birthday party here for the summer and signed up for their membership. I take them weekly and they seem to never get bored here. Every room has different interactive toys/games to play with so children in any age will enjoy this place. The staff is friendly and the classes are always different. Nancy was able to help me in booking this venue. She was very helpful and accommodating. I came back a couple of times and I always see her roaming around making sure everything is in tiptop shape and everyone is having fun. Also, I came on a Saturday where they had a children's party and I ended up upgrading my party package because I was so impressed with the volunteers and staff escorting the guests to the party, giving a tour of the museum, and making sure that the birthday girl is having fun. And to be honest, for the price of the package, the place is a steal. The venue is huge and there's so much extra services you can get for the price. She also followed us from room to room and told us we had to put everything back exactly where we got it before we left! Um - are they aware this is a CHILDREN's museum? I have a membership to this museum and used to take my two year old daughter quite often. It is a cute museum for toddlers and the A/C is icy cold. I no longer take my daughter here though because I can't stand how dirty the museum is. I am fairly certain they must only clean this museum once a week. The floors are always dirty and there is dirt and hair everywhere. It is pretty gross. Don't bring a child who crawls...their little hands and knees will be covered in soot. I would be willing to pay a higher entrance fee if this museum was cleaned on a daily basis. This place really needs to be mopped, vacuumed, swept, disinfected, etc. read more

I've been coming to this museum for 30 years with my children and now with my grandchildren. The toys are starting to look very dated. The stuffed animals look like they are disease Ladin. Can't say enough good things about the Boca children's Musuem! We just had a birthday party here and we couldn't have been happier with the venue. The kids had a blast, there was so much to do both inside the Musuem and on the pirate ship outside. The party room is beautiful and is a large space that can accommodate a lot of people. The staff and volunteers couldn't be anymore helpful and sweet. Nancy is super easy to work with and did everything she could to make sure our party was perfect.
