They love to prey on bar parking lots during the weekends right before the bars close in order to make some quick cash. I would understand maybe towing during the week, but towing someone's car that they chose to leave there so they didn't drink and drive seems pretty low... read more

American Towing has been towing cars for our local automotive business for years now. They have some of the nicest/cleanest trucks around and are very nice guys. Sounds like somebody is a little mad their car got towed away!! Maybe try following parking rules next time :) So anybody looking to get their vehicle towed, I would recommend them first! I could definitely see where a towing company would get bad reviews... if the police station was on yelp I'm sure they would have all kinds of negative reviews too.. but these guys are people too, just doing their jobs. read more

I am a AAA member; we called AAA to have our battery tested--a service AAA provides. AAA sent out someone from American Towing who refused to provide the service. I called AAA to let them know. AAA is taking care of things on their end. But, if that is the sort of service American Towing provides when AAA sub-contracts out them... well, I seriously question American Towing's honesty, work ethic, and business practices. read more

My father was in a traffic accident and was rear ended, the police called American towing because the car after sitting with its emergency flashers going for a couple of hours and would not start. American towing told my father they did not have a jumper cable in the tow truck. Really, a tow truck without a jumper cable? They towed the vehicle to Davis Auto at 300 N Main Street in Carbondale, where he was informed that he needed a new alternator for the price of $366. My father asked that they clean the battery terminals and give him a jump start, which they did for $31. The car started right up and my father drove home and there has been no problem with the vehicle running ever since. This appears to be predatory practices of older people by both American towing and Davis Auto Repair. I am suspicious about the Carbondale Police also being involved. This is a small town and the Police should be well aware of the kind of people they are dealing with. When talking with AAA my father was informed there have been numerous complaints about these businesses. Be warned. read more
