A really terrific place. Went here to get a Christmas tree in a pinch (waited too long) and got the best service ever. The trees are pre cut and the staff did everything while we stood around a roaring fire! Has a gardening center with basic supplies as well. Went away with a fragrant balsam fir. Spent yesterday afternoon at the big box store looking for ornamental grasses but wasn't able to find anything that inspired me. Serendipity struck as I was passimg through Almont for work and by happenstance was passing by American Tree. Paul, the manager, was wearing a #plantgeek shirt and helped me piece together a plan for my patio, pulling together a mix of grasses and herbs/veggies to get me started on my horticultural adventure. He was spirited and lively and had no shortage of 'thyme' to answer all my questions and help me with my selections. I live in Ann Arbor, so I'm a WAYS away from home, but this place will be my 'go to' landscape/nursery supplier whenever I'm up this way. read more

American tree is run by a wonderful family. We recently purchased multiple Black Hills Spruce trees and have been very pleased with our overall experience. We were greeted by Angela, who took us into the back nursery area, Sharing her extensive knowledge while we tagged our trees. The staff kept in constant contact with us regarding scheduling delivery and planting, having to maneuver around extremely rainy spring season. A big shout out goes to Joe and his crew on the delivery and installation of our Black Hills Spruce trees. The guys were professional, and meticulous about planting properly and instructing me on how to care for our investment. The crew even cleaned up after the job, brooming the street to pick up any debris. Highly recommend American Tree- we had an awesome experience! read more

One of the largest plant & tree selections north of Utica, but their prices are ridiculously high. Some of their staff are knowledgeable, but they have a lot of students working during the summer and they rarely know the answer to anything other than basic questions. read more

The staff here is so friendly and helpful! You will be greeted and asked if you need any help multiple times by multiple people. I need to landscape my front yard and was just browsing around trying to get ideas. One of the workers took me around the whole place giving me ideas and just talking with me knowing that I was not going to buy anything that day. Prices are very reasonable. However, I needed some topsoil and it was $40 to deliver and I only live 3 miles down the road! read more

I have always found the staff very helpful and knowledgable. I agree the students don't always have the answers but they are in radio contact with others who do have the answers. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a great display set up for fairy gardening if you like that sort of thing, along with a large variety of trees and flowers to choose from. Prices seem reasonable for items purchased. If your looking for a special birthday gift for someone that is hard to buy for, I have always been able to find something here. I would recommend stopping in and looking around to see the variety of items they offer. Easy access off the highway. Large parking lot if you are picking up bulk loads of mulch. read more
