Even with a full team from AE, I feel like I'm managing a single intern --and that intern is *struggling*. We consistently have to do the majority of the work to get things done or to get them in even the right ballpark of what we're looking for. Their performance and value-add are not priorities to them -- their priority is very clearly running up the billable time clock. They do not provide strategic value. They are hyper-focused on SEO even though we told them multiple times we don't really care about SEO just yet. To this day, our weekly check-ins are basically just a bland overview of the changes in our SEO numbers from last week (Bueller...? Bueller...?) There's been zero discussion of a social media strategy. Our HubSpot implementation & training with them was haphazard at best. There are two people who show up for every single weekly status meeting and I could not tell you what they do. One seems to just take notes and the other *might* be our project or account manager, but I honestly can't tell. All-in-all, this was a lot of time and money *not* well spent. We chose this company as we thought a large website provider would bring more resources to the table and offer strategic direction to make our site better and more effective. We were very wrong. This company offers no strategic direction or insight to help you build your web presence. When you do have an idea you wish to implement, the meter starts running. Each project and request is billed by the minute. And, you do not get the benefit of the company's history completing similar tasks for other customers. No industrial insight is given. We also found their design department to be incredibly weak. Even when we sketched out our vision for a page -- and gave numerous examples of other sites/pages we wished to emulate -- the designer would come to virtual meetings unprepared, obviously never reviewing what we sent. The company does not guarantee its work: If something American Eagle programmed breaks, it charges to troubleshoot and fix the problem. There were times when pages we never touched would stop working and we would be charged $200/hour to find and repair. In an age of fast communication and the need for immediacy, American Eagle is in the dark ages: You cannot contact your assigned customer service rep directly via phone: You must call through a receptionist. AND, believe it or not, the company does not have voicemail. You have to leave a message with the front desk. There is no way to bypass this system. The only direct communication is via email that may or may not be acknowledged. And, do not expect answers or updates to happen on Fridays or over the weekends: The company has meetings on Fridays and does not update on weekends. When we did have issues, we tried to set up meetings with our CSR and elevate issues to management. The company does not let this happen. We practically begged to discuss our issues with other personnel who had more authority. After nearly seven years of American Eagle hosting our site, we spoke only to three employees (other than, of course, the receptionist). My advice: Find another web programmer and host. Do not engage with this company. You will find yourself with too much invested in a sub-par site. read more

We chose American Eagle to re-do our website and e-commerce platform. Once we signed the contract and wrote a check, it's been downhill. Service team is unresponsive. We are missing several of the features we paid for. We have now hired another developer to correct the errors AE left us with. Really disgusted with the entire experience. There are many small businesses that spent a lot of $$ and experienced very unsatisfactory service and results. If you are a small business owner don't even think about using AmerianEagle.com to design a website. You need to review and sign two 20 pages documents before they begin to work on your site. They spend more time on the contracts than they do on the web site. They have a high turnover and keep shuffling you from one project manager to another. Their customer service is terrible. We contracted with them to redo a major ecommerce site. We tried to be as specific as we could. Unfortunately we didn't put a time element to it and it took them three years to complete the project - 3 years! By that time we couldn't use any of it so our company lost 80K for work we couldn't use. However, that may be the best outcome! Here's why- Another site they made which was performing very well, was penalized by the Google for SEO practices. This business owner had no clue what had happened except his site went from top of the first page on searches and very successful to 5th page and, basically, his business is no more! He found out ht had porn sites linking to it! I asked him who did his SEO and he said no one- I let him know that it must have been American Eagle who had created his site - probably some new kid working there. Here's alesson to any web site owner - Don't ever let an agency do your SEO- It can be the end of your business and all that agency will say is, "sorry." These guys may be relatively OK as these site creation agencies go, but it is just a bunch of kids acting like they know what they're doing along with some very good salespeople. Those salespeople will be out of the picture after you sign and you will be left with a procession of project managers, each one more clueless than the previous. Get your RFQ (request for quote) and final scope of work written out in very great detail. Include time milestones and an end date. They have some competent people, but they aren't all competent, so you need to have both eyes open and there will still be surprises. As a fairly major site, we keep everything in house and it works so much better. No agency really cares the way you do. read more

Your money would be better spent with other resources. Their design group is weak, and with the exception of very high profile plug and play websites, their depth of knowledge is also very weak. I have had a B2B e-commerce site with them for 7 years and ONLY GOTTEN 2 orders..... Now I cannot even service the database, and their response, is that is MY computers problem. We are running all the latest versions of both windows and Mac system, along with the most recent versions of all of the editing software available.... But it's MY problem. Well now it is their problem. I have no problem servicing my other 4 sites with different providers...Just theirs.... read more

AmericanEagle.com is all about getting you to sign up with them and build your website for not a lot of money. As soon as you are tied in with them, the admin end of our site was constantly breaking. Things that were out of my control. Well, each time something just 'stopped working', they would charge me about $300 just to investigate what the issues were. Then another $300 to fix them. The bills were piling up, and it was truly amazing that we were having to pay for them since everything that was breaking was on their end. I actually specifically asked them to identify what the technical issues were and they ignored my request. They are absolutely the WORST WORST WORST company to host your site. Unless you are a mom and pop, or a business that does not need a complicated site, DO NOT USE THEM!!! I'm telling you, they are HORRIBLE!!!! I was sucked in for years to their strategy, get the client, break their site, bill them for breaking their site so we can make money! read more
