I was not happy with the customer service here at America's Best. I have been wearing trifocals many years but they decided bifocals would be better, they were wrong. I took back the bifocals, the manager seemed to blame me for their mistake. When I picked up the correct lenses I pointed out that they don't turn dark outside, I told the manager and she said that was not available on trifocals, I said that I have had this option on my old trifocals, she said they don't make them with that option. I complained to the main office, they told me it was a misunderstanding and told me to go back. My response was "I will never step a foot into that store ever again!" I did not feel welcome there, the manager blamed me for their mistake!!! read more

I had excellent service at America's Best a couple of weeks ago. Prior to getting new glasses I requested that my eyes be checked due to increased blurriness. I got in to see Dr. Oebker OD within 30 minutes of walking in the door; he did a thorough exam of my eyes, explained his findings, and referred me on to a retina specialist. Emma, his assistant, even made all the arrangements! I was so touched and humbled by their kindness and assistance. Thank you so very much to all those I interacted with at America's Best. I have never left a review before but I am going out of my way now to express my shock at the subtle yet obvious sh** attitude from the older, fully grown, "should know better than that" women who work there. I came to you, obviously, for professional help in something I know nothing about. I was seeking medical advice from you and you guys gave me the worst attitude I've ever received for not knowing what to do about my eyes. And then you proceeded to sell me $500 in glasses for a slight stigmatism.... when I noticed that I didn't even notice a huge difference in my sight I received very obvious attitude from the lady when asked if returning them was an option. Telling me that I should have known when I left the store if they work, lady I had to experience the night driving first and daily events! I'm not driving around with $500 in glasses in my truck That I don't use. Maybe my review is useless but I hope you ladies see this, get a different job if you're going to be upset at everyone Who asks you a question about their eyes. Ridiculous. read more

I had a great initial experience, the exam and selecting my glasses. I spent over 700$'s there. When I went to pick them up the store was not opened at 9 as advertised. When the woman came to the door to unlock it she was clearly annoyed that she had to unlock the door at my convenience (after 9 am) and not hers. I live 190 miles from the store, a Monday and have to get back home. I was clearly in a hurry which made this woman be deliberate, moving slow and had a huge attitude towards me. Incredibly rude. And all I wanted is to get my glasses and head for home. Obviously has control issues. And poor customer service. I have been to Central Oregon Eye Care, Costco, Alpine, Vision Works, and none of them ever had poor customer service. I pay out of pocket and because of this I will never go back to America's Best. Lots of options with comparable prices. I will pay for good customer service without a crappy attitude read more

You get what you pay for, I guess. Their glasses are cheap, but they don't last. I've blown through several pairs over the past 5 years or so... I'm not actually sure why I've kept going back. By the time they're done upselling you on all the coatings, you'd have been better off going to a nicer spot for your eye needs. The Portland location was at least quick and the Rx was measured accurately. The Bend location, however.... pretty terrible. The rx on the glasses gave me terrible headaches and my vision was never actually clear. When I was picking them up, the tech had an extremely hard time figuring out how to fit them to my face properly and ended up warping them into a crazy shape. Luckily Holly (who is their one good employee) came to save the day and got them back into some semblance of glasses shape. I still wouldn't say they fit *well* but after almost an hour with the first woman I was done waiting around. I went back and they tried again to adjust the glasses and rechecked the rx, but the doc really wanted the rx to be the same as before and kept going around in circles as the eyepiece on the phoropter got foggier and foggier with my breath blowing out the top of my mask. He got my vision looking better then went around and gave me back the same initial rx claiming that I had selected it that way. I ended up returning the glasses and just paying the eye exam fee for the terrible Rx that I will never use. I booked an appt elsewhere and just cut my losses. read more

I recently visited the new America's Best location in Bend, Oregon because I was in need of a new pair of Rx eyeglasses to replace the old ones I'd been using for 10 years. The GM of the store actually helped me and she(Katy) made sure to show me all the frames that would fit a 6'8" tall guy who wears large size glasses. The selection and pricing was so good, I got 2 pairs. Would definitely recommend America's Best in Bend! read more

My wife had a bad experience with Lasik Plus, and needed glasses to get her through the next 5 weeks until the corrective lasik procedure could be scheduled. The plan was to get the frames, then go to a store that made lenses in about 1 hour because she was nauseated due to the poor vision. She found a set of frames that she liked at "America's Best" stores, but none were in stock at that location. After waiting in line at that place, I was told that another one about 10 miles away did have them and they would be waiting for us, so I went there. I was asked to have a seat. After about 10 minutes, I flagged down the person behind the counter. She took the glasses out of the drawer and put them at the back of the line behind a couple of other people that came in well after I did. I was told to go to the waiting room. 46 minutes later, I went back up front and communicated my disappointment at the Excessive Wait. Though they were not that busy, the excuse was being short staffed. She looked through the bin that held the folders that represented the few waiting people and their place in line, and said I was next in line. The store manager was the next person free for me to pay for the frames, so I sat down across the desk from her. She did not say a word, got up, and chose what appeared to be the folder behind mine in the bin, called the people from the waiting room, and had them sit at another table for her to wait on them, while leaving me sitting at the desk she had been working at. Either the woman l spoke with lied about me being next, or the manager blatantly took someone else ahead of me. In any event, 52 minutes into waiting to for a 2 to 4 minute task to pay for some frames, I was D-O-N-E. Even when they are not excessively busy, clearly they have too many customers to take care of in an efficient way. This experience made it too late for me to get the frames elsewhere and get to the 1 hour lens making place in time for them to make the lenses, since it was already 4PM. My wife will be nauseated for at least another day as a result. I will never darken the doors of any so called "America's Best" stores again under any circumstances. If this is the "Best" they can do, I don't need the frustration and wasted time, or to deal with overtly rude people or those that lie on her behalf. I don't believe in rewarding what is among the sorriest excuses of customer service that I have had in a very, very long time, and I hope you won't either. I will be spreading the word on this experience for quite some time to come. read more

It might have just been a bad day, but my experience was just a comedy of errors. It started when undergoing the peripheral vision test. The instrument froze up, and the technician did not know how to get it going again. Never fear, another employee knew how to reboot the instrument and it apparently worked fine after that. While waiting for the optometrist, I saw him rushing back and forth for several minutes. Finally, he saw me and said "ready". Halfway through the exam, there was something awry, and he said something like "Well Ray, there is something ...." I stopped him and said that my name is not Ray. While I was waiting for the exam, he passed by and I heard him say "ready", but instead he had said "Ray". Well, it turns out that Ray wasn't anywhere to be found, but the optometrist had his records in hand. Undaunted, the optometrist continued with my exam (with my records in hand) rapidly asking which image was better, the first or the second. Both images were a total blur, but I made my best estimates as to which image was better. Finally, he asked me to take off my glasses and asked if I could see any of the letters on the exam screen with just my naked eyes. No roble, I could see the larger letters. He then determined that there was an instrument problem. He explained that he had an issue with the instrument earlier in the day, but that it had seemed to be okay for several exams prior to mine. He had gotten behind schedule while tinkering with the instrument, and that explained why he was rushing about trying to catch up. He further explained that he was filling in at the Bend office and this was his first day. After searching through some drawers, he found a manual for the instrument and got it going again. After finishing the exam, I went to pay for my exam and yet again there was an instrument problem. The credit card reader took about 10 minutes before finally deciding to work. After I got home, I looked at my prescription and noticed that it was quite different from my previous 3 exams in the past several years. I called America's Best to ask if there might be an error and was told that the prescription that I had in my hand is what had been prescribed. Being suspicious, I ordered an inexpensive pair of glasses online from a place where I had gotten glasses before without any issues with the prescription. Something was off, my vision with the glasses was not as good as it was with my old glasses that had a 2-year old prescription. Finally, I went elsewhere to have my eyes examined, and the prescription and new glasses led to good vision. My conclusion is that nothing worked at America's Best, and the only reason that I am not giving them 1 star is that everyone I interacted with was nice. read more

Not the best by a long shot. The optometrist did his best but I felt like all the "pieces" of my visit were not connected. First, I got 928373 reminders about my appt even after confirming (email AND text) then the reminders came about REQUIRED paperwork before my visit with a link that just lead to the website..?? Insurance was a whole other story- what a mess. That woman made it clear that I was being a pest by asking her to run my insurance. Took my prescriptions which I don't even trust at this point and will not be going back there. read more

This place should really be called America's Worst... I finally got eye insurance and needed to get my eyes checked and wanted to get new glasses and contacts and chose this place because they could get me in the fastest. I had my eye exam November 5th. Two weeks went by and I thought they would call me to tell me my glasses were ready but I got no call so decided to call them and they were ready. I went to pick up my glasses and was in a rush to get home, when I got home I noticed there were scratches on the frames and one noticeable cut in the frame. I took them back in and they let me continue wearing them until the new ones were ready. This was around the end of November that I brought them in. They said they should be ready in two weeks. I call them in two weeks and they have no idea where the repair order is. I tell them I also want to exchange the contacts I got because after about 2 and a half weeks they started irritating my eyes and they are the kind that should last at least a month. And I had been taking them out at night and cleaning them off with saline the right way. So I go back in to try different contacts and see if my glasses are ready and they still can't find the repair order. This was the end of December I believe. I waited until the end of january to call and ask once again about my glasses and again they acted like they had no clue and couldn't find a repair order. They tell me to make an appointment for new contacts for some reason. So I go in for my appointment and tell the doctor that I like the contacts I have been testing out and he says I'm all set then and sends me up front. I'm told I can't exchange the other contacts for new ones even though when I was in last they said to bring them back. Then she tells me she will since those are being discontinued. I'm thinking hmm they are probably being discontinued because they suck. I ask about my glasses yet again and she looks everywhere for them and can't find them. Then tells me they probably got lost in the mail. I tell her I'm not coming back again because I live in Redmond. The only good thing they have done was tell me they will mail them directly to me once they come in (I'm not counting on it though) and said I can keep the other glasses too. I hope this helps those thinking of using this business. I will be going somewhere else next time. read more
