Their staff did an admirable job in dealing with a sudden emergency. We were sitting around a big table in their Dearborn Conference Room on Friday when around 6:30pm the area was hit with a power outage. Somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 customers lost power, including the hotel. Whatever happened also affected the hotel generator, because that was knocked out too. No heat, no hot water, no electricity, no internet. The hotel staff did what they could and set up emergency contractor lights in the lobby area and dining area. I'm not sure how, but they were able to serve the traditional Embassy Suites hot breakfast the next morning. My visit got off to a great start, with a big suite room and an excellent check-in experience. Some of our party arrived early and we enjoyed their complimentary Happy Hour drinks and snacks. Their staff was wonderful -especially the food service workers who set up that hot breakfast in dim lighting. One of the guys made me laugh when he said eating breakfast in the cold and dark reminded him of being back in the service!

Bartender was friendly and efficient. There was a loud, obnoxious woman at the bar who I was able to avoid until I spoke with a man at the bar. Evidently, she was a regular customer. She directed a comment toward me that was factually incorrect and when I attempted to explain to her why, she exploded and started screaming at me. I stepped away, gathered my stuff and waited for my check at the end of the bar farthest from her. She continued screaming at me from across the bar, raving loudly that she would pray for me--which I found particularly bizarre and rather scary. I asked her repeatedly to stop shouting at me. While waiting I had a polite conversation with a man at the end of the bar that I had purposefully placed between she and me. The bartender returned and she finally got her to stop screaming. I paid and left. In the morning at checkout I told the front desk person about my very negative and frightening experience. She apologized and said that they expect people not to "talk politics". I pointed out to her that Fox News was playing on every TV in the lobby and bar and she apologized again. I took the shuttle to the airport. Driver was nice and professional and even tried to help me obtain a cart. Despite other positive aspects of the hotel, I will not be returning to a place that allows crazy people to drink to oblivion then verbally attack other guests.

It is $30 a night to park but if you're a guest they park it for you and you don't have to worry about it. The rooms are big. Nothing special. The usual amenities for a nice hotel. We had dinner and drinks at Reflections. The bar area could be bigger, but we were able to sit at a table in the bar area. They had quite a few selections. I chose the cauliflower and carrots. And we shared wings. The cauliflower was AMAZING . When you fly out, you can either go out an exit that takes you to the main airport if you have bags to check. If you don't though, you go through a special TSA and it's super quick and convenient. If you like convenience like I do (I'm lazy) you need to stay here the next time you fly out!!

There are escalators or an elevator as front desk is on lower level. Very nice king room with all the comforts of home including a small refrigerator. Plenty of closet space and a luggage rack. Seating area is nice for relaxing. Convenient when flying out of the Delta terminal. Has its own security checkpoint. You can also check in via kiosk and there is a business center in the lobby. Can be pricey depending on day, but there are discounts for AAA, Seniors and Government employees. Well worth it!

Big disappointment was the fact that the hot tub water was cold. The jets worked. We reported it to the front desk as well as another couple reported it also. However, it took 2 days for "maintenance" to get it lukewarm. It was still cold the day after we first reported it. The weekend buffet was meager: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage. Also, toast/bagel, cereal, milk, coffee and juice in bottles. After the first morning (it was a weekend), we walked to Big Boy's for a hearty, hot breakfast. I took the last flight I could find (on another airline) out of NYC that evening, and stayed at this Comfort Inn. It was easy to book, at the last minute, for a very reasonable price. They offer transport to and fro DTW terminals 24/7 (I got to the hotel after 1 am). The bed and pillows are comfortable, the room and shower are clean, and there is a nice breakfast included in the room rate. Both shuttle driver and counter staff are super friendly (huge contract to cold and unhelpful Delta). What more can one expect?

It would be nice if this was replaced. The ceramic floors in the bath looked clean but they were sticky. No luggage rack in the closet but there is a bench. The jacuzzi tub in the room would not be something I'd request.

Rooms were very comfortable and clean. The only caveat was that the spa and pool was dirty after jumping in without thinking, there was some hair that crossed my path and some paper in the corners of the spa. I was turned off. I feel bad that she was the only one there having to deal with the ringing phone and a line of people to check in. But she was able to help me out and I appreciate it.
