Upon driving up to this motel, we were very unsure if it was even open. There was one, only one truck in the parking lot and it definitely looked deserted...we finally spotted a small open sign and went in. The front office is small and compact, and has a rather strange funk to it. The gentleman who I met there was very kind and quickly got me a room key....I have to say I was getting that intuitional feeling to run. I also noticed a sign that said "If you check out within 10 minutes of checking in, we will give you a refund." yikes. We walked into our room with trepidation. It did not appear to have been cleaned and the bathroom was moldy. I was so tired, I danced with the idea of trying to find a decent place nearby, but my "local" app on my phone showed me only similar sad properties. We went back to the front desk to be greeted by another kind face who gladly gave us another room. Not requested, but we were given a room with a king bed versus our reservation for a queen. This room definitely appeared much cleaner and more spacious. We immediately got rid of the two top blankets, as I'm sure they never get washed. We always bring our own sanitizing spray, towels and paper towels, so once we cleaned all touchable surfaces we felt a little better. The wifi was nonexistent which is a bummer, and there are not many places around to eat other than Ruby Tuesday, McDonalds, Arby's, Taco Bell and Western Sizzlin'. Another reviewer mentioned other guests being rouse and throwing ice/water off the balcony, which we did indeed see. All in all, it was quiet at night and I have slept worse at other nicer places. We promptly checked out in the morning after a wonderful chat, apology and well wishes from the proprietors. It sucks that such lovely people own and operate this location yet lack the funds, skills, knowledge and/or expertise to make it nice. read more
