My husband booked The Groovy Nomad as a birthday gift, a solo weekend reset, and it was just what I…read moreneeded. Three nights of quiet, a perfectly renovated room, and a real sense of being somewhere intentional rather than just somewhere to sleep. He picked well. I stayed in the Flower Power room and it's exactly what the name promises without tipping into kitsch. The owners clearly cared about the details: the vintage pieces are the real thing, the bathroom is genuinely beautiful, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and everything you actually need is there (Keurig, smart TV with Netflix, fast wifi). Even the mini fridge looks vintage, and I appreciated that it had a separate little freezer. It's a 1959 motel that's been brought back with restraint and taste, which is rare. A few things that made it worth every dollar (and the price is more than reasonable for what you get): Your reservation includes a Cloudland Canyon State Park pass, which is a lovely touch. The park is about 10 minutes away and I spent a slow afternoon doing the overlook walks and having a picnic at one of the rim spots. The outdoor courtyard back at the motel was its own little perk in the evening, with a fire going and a great spot to sit with a drink. Trenton is an easy 90 minutes from Huntsville and only about 25 minutes from Chattanooga, so it works as a true getaway without being a haul. For dinner, Lookout Mountain Pizza Company in Rising Fawn is a short drive up the mountain and well worth it. Quiet, clean, charming, and run by people who clearly love what they've built. I'll be back.

Stayed in the 2-bed Hippie room; fun decor, soft bedding, comfortable mattress, and thoughtful and nice amenities. The renovation is quality, not a slap-dash flip. It made me so happy to see an investment to this small town that I've visited over 60 years. Definitely will recommend to my family.

There's stains on your chairs close enough. I get it, ya want to reuse things but it looks bad and this is the result it gets The beds holy COW could they feel any more like rocks. Gonna feel that in the morning, that's a new one Bathroom is the only thing ya got going for ya that seems spotless. Love the adjustable shower head and the fact you give us more than just 2 shower towels. Although I wish their was like ridges or like a slip grip bc once the water starts it make the tub slippery OH and thank you for paying attention to filling up the provided bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. By the way they feel WAY better than that cheap feeling kind that have been at other Hamptons

The Hampton brand has not appeared to go back to cleaning rooms regularly yet, wondering if they'll ever go back to pre-covid days. We did run into housekeeping and asked for fresh towels while out, she did come into room and took old towels out and brought fresh.. Sure do miss coming back to our room after a long day and having things tidying up and beds made. If you read my reviews you'll see I don't give a lot of 5s, so 3 to me is right in the middle.

Parking is great for the size of the Inn. There are times where it can get a little full, but there are additional parking spots on campus or at the Hospital nearby. The staff is typically polite and willing to help direct you to your destination. I had a great experience during my stay. The room itself was clean and felt fresh. An opportunity for some of the rooms would be to take a look at the plumbing. My room in particular had slow drainage and the toilet would run for some time after flushing. Luckily the bathroom door was solid enough to block out the running toilet noise when viewing the television. While I did not partake in dinner at Shakerrag (onsite restaurant) this trip, I have had their offerings before for an event at the Inn and it was pretty good. Decent pricing (for Sewanee) as well. Overall it was a good stay and I had a peaceful night at the end of the hall. Not too much foot traffic and easy enough to get around.

We arrived right at the first seating for dinner on a Sunday. Our waiter was lovely. The decor was beautiful. The old lodge feel of the place is very cozy. The only reason I removed a star is the food. Nothing was revolutionary. Food was fine.
