There is nicer furniture. They put laminate on the floor instead of a rug which was ok with us. However, they did not replace the beds. The bed, in our case a king size, seems like it was left over from the 1970's era. It was low, thin and very saggy. It was impossible to keep from rolling to the center of the bed and it was very uncomfortable. The breakfast nook is tiny, the food limited, and there are only 3 tables in the breakfast room so not enough room. They don't know how to make coffee. It was like water. On a positive note, the man who runs the place is very nice.

It is more like coming to a second home than a hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We are a very large group. Some of us have disabilities that require special assistance, adaptive rooms, service animals, and caretakers. Some of us travel with aides or professional assistants/managers. This hotel handles it all with professionalism and calm. We use banquet spaces, meeting rooms, suites, hospitality spaces, and the restaurant. We take up most of the parking and if the pool or sauna are available, we are in my heaven! A few of us even use the workout room or hang out at the bar! This hotel keeps us coming back because they treat us well; they feed us well; they serve us amazing hospitality; and the fees are a great value! If you're in Marshfield, don't overlook this inconspicuous gem of a hotel! It's a part of the Best Western Group. These people put the "best" in hotel service industry! The casino was clean, and we noticed no smoke odor. And they have a no-smoke policy, including vaping. Also, the staff was amiable and helpful throughout our visit. The friendly security guard greeted us as we entered the casino, which was a positive sign. The gift shop is only cash; sadly, most items are made in China. They offered some things by Pendleton Woolen Mills at $53 wallets to around $300 for coats, but it's pricey if you're insisting on cash only, but that's my opinion. Most importantly, the casino has no taxes because you're on the Menominee reservation. So, it is what it is. They had photos along the wall close to the gift shop. As someone with Menominee lineage, I wish they offered more history of the area and told the story that many books need to teach about the Menominee nation.

I was given Cabin 1...right on the lake...this Cabin has the fire pit and the dock onto the lake. Cabin 1 has 2 nicely furnished bedrooms, dining room, living room with a large flatscreen TV, a full kitchen with a gas stove/oven and refrigerator, and a bathroom. I stayed all week, my cabin was warm and comfortable. I enjoyed myself. I most certainly will come back...perhaps during the spring or summer, and enjoy swimming and fishing on the lake.

Not to mention hilarious! All three cottages are warm, cheerful and charming and located below the main lodge/bar/hotel on the shores of pristine Clear Lake. Swimming and fishing is the best you could ask for on this immaculate, private-owned gem. In addition to the cottage rentals they have 6 hotel rooms. Each room is uniquely decorated in "northwoods" style (loons, white-tail deer, fish). If you are a CLEAN-FREAK this is the place for you! Absolutely spotless. At the time of my last visit in 2007, 5 of the 6 units were still 2-room "suites" with kitchenette's. Perfect for small families or couples (sigh...wonderful memories). Their Beachcomber Lounge is a local favorite. It entertains both pool and dart tournaments and offers some of the best home-cooked food in the area. Steve makes and proudly serves the best cheese-cake EVER! Come for the "local flavor", joke-of-the-day, fish tales and just downright good fun. Top-notch accommodations, great food and drink and fun hosts. Could anyone ask for more?
