Our group of friends 6 or 7 went for breakfast like always, some got bacon that was white and like rubber and refused to eat it, I got 1 pancake two little pieces of sausage that would have been one link anywhere else coffee and toast for $12.00 and the service was another story. It's sad because when we first started going there it was really good but the quality of the food has really gone downhill and the prices have hit the roof. We'll find another restaurant that appreciates our business, I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Amherst Diner is a favorite for the locals. Service is always quick and friendly. We usually go here for breakfast, they have a large selection for breakfast and it's always good. You will not leave here hungry, they have very generous portion sizes. Don't expect anything fancy, but that's part of what's great about this diner. The staff gets to know you, and treats you like one of their own. The daily specials are always a nice addition to the standard menu. read more

Food was pretty good not bad price. The cabbage soup was pretty good I got open face roast beef although she brought me roast beef dinner which is now what I ordered. Wife got Ruben which she said was pretty good. Daughter got country fried steak it came with brown gravy Not what you would expect with country fried steak. Son in law got cheese burger said it was pretty good. Service was pretty good she was attentive and brought me some bread for my roast beef to make it an open face like I ask for. Decor was a little dated but for a dinner it wasn't too bad. I would eat here again. read more

Been coming here for many years, even when it was Farmer Boys. Never again the way I was treated by their so called Manager! We usually dine in but this time we ordered Togo. We ordered our norm which is 2 Chicken Stir-fry, 1 Shrimp Stir-fry and Combo Appetizer. Our portions on the dinners were a disgrace for what we were charged. When we dine in our plate is covered with a huge mound of vegetables on top and 8 or 9 big strips of chicken...HA that's not what we got for Togo. Our container wasn't even half filled with 4 small pieces a chicken as I wouldn't call them strips, hardly any vegetables or rice. Our Combo Appetizer came with less portion as well and no dipping sauces. So I called to voice my disappointment and the guy who said he was a manager acted as if he didn't care...asked me what I want him to do about it...when I stated a refund he offered 1 free meal...seriously a slap in the face for $64...didn't even offer half refund considering we only got half portion of what you get dining in. He didn't even issue an apology or anything descent to make it right! Long time customers no more...when you disrespect your customers it's a wonder there's hardly any that go there...don't get me wrong the service from waitresses is good and the food is as well when you actually get what you pay for! The Amherst Diner has excellent food with reasonable prices. The atmosphere is that of a mom and pop place. Most of the servers are very nice and very open for conversation. We are regulars now and if they see us coming, they already have our coffee poured. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is there is one server (Christine) that is quite rude to people. For example, someone seated themselves and she basically yelled at them and then told the next table about it and didn't even lower her voice. I have even heard people mention they wouldn't be back because of her. However, don't let that deter you. It is well worth your time. read more

I've been eating here for years, growing up in the area. Back in the day it was previously Farmer Boy Restaurant. Close to Jamie's Flea Market and the Amherst Turnpike Exchange. Recently went for breakfast and lunch on separate occasions. The prices are decent for what you get, specials daily and a $9.99 lunch menu. The patty melts my mom and I ordered for lunch were delicious. The breakfast I ordered the next time was so-so, my party of five's breakfasts were ate without complaint. The coffee here is really strong, if that's your thing. Many of the servers have worked there a long time and have a loyal following of customers. The building itself and parking lot are to be desired here tho. The chairs and tables are really in need of not just repair, but to be replaced! Some of the reasons for only giving three stars, wish I could've given them a better rating. I'll be going again for sure so hopefully a few things will change and I can increase this ratings review. read more

Chatted with several of the locals and took a recommendation from one. Service was prompt and attentive and the food was good. Biggest impression was the value. Just wanted a light dinner and was very pleased. They have a 1/2 sandwich special with two sides for $4.99. Besides the 1/2 Rueben and the potato salad that is pictured, I also had a cup of creamy rice chicken soup that was nice and hot and good! This is one of the BEST light meals I have ever had! We were trying to go to "Farmer Boy's" for breakfast, but this restaurant showed up in its location. I'm guessing they are one and the same. Solid diner pretty much in the middle of nowhere. You're probably stopping by here because it is one of the few restaurants surrounding the apple picking orchard. Cheap food, good portions, and quality is fine. Standard fare. Worth getting off the turnpike for. Good specials-lots of entrees to pick from that include two sides. Lots of selection for kids. And they take credit card. I would definitely return if we landed in that area during meal time on another turnpike trip. read more

I had a 10 oz stake, baked potato, salad and desert for $8.79! There were three ladies with me and two of them took half there meal home because the portions were so large. The old Farmer Boy Restaurant is now Amherst Diner. At first glance it's the same place but with a few differences. The portions are really good sized, especially the home fries. They have specials during the week and even a Saturday kids eat for $0.99. The staff is really friendly and attentive to needs like condiments and beverage refills. The price is pretty topical for a family restaurant. Make a day of it on a Wednesday or Saturday and head over to Jamie's Flea Market after your meal like us. read more

A Saturday morning visit with a friend was not a great experience. Entering the restaurant we saw a handwritten sign that said all items with eggs are increased by .50 cents each due to a recent price hike. We decided to give it a shot anyway and ordered croissant and egg with a fruit cup, the special which was two eggs and hash browns with sausage. Toast was ala carte. Service, speed and portions were good however there were real issues with food quality. We aren't coffee snobs by any measure but it was bad. Bitter and weak. The hash browns that hit the flattop were great but unseasoned, the rest were underdone. The sausage appeared to have been deep fried or at least very overdone. The eggs were good. My friends croissant and egg was soaked through with moisture, the eggs were fused into the croissant and the fruit cup was underripe melon that an educated guess says came from a bag. Again price and service were good but when we left we received the obligatory "How was everything?" In a totally out of character response I said it was a total fail all around. She just smiled and said "that's great" and handed us our credit card slip. read more
