I wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant so being on the south side of town decided to try Amigos. We entered the restaurant or seated promptly. Seem fairly clean, except for some food on the windowsills next to us. Server brought over their salsa and a bowl of piping hot chips that were tasty although the salsa could use a little bit more flavor in my opinion. We decided on pan fried tacos for her and I ordered the Carne Asada burritos for me.. My spouse really liked her tacos and they came with a side of guac. My plate consisted of two small burritos and a side of rice. The burritos were covered in a tasty Verde sauce. The Kearny Asada itself was very chewy although had good flavor. The rice was basic Mexican rice not much to write home about. We would probably come back and try something different next time to give it another shot if we are on the south side of town. read more

There are plenty Mexican restaurants in Topeka but this is one that my family goes to regularly. In part , it's because of the chips and salsa and the service. They are always on the ball with serving and the food is always good and hot. It might not be my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in town, but it is in my top five. read more

Great food consistently. The Burrito Arandas is my favorite. Good hoy sauce and chips are always fresh.

The food is always great and the service is awesome! My favorites are the fajitas Hawaiian, banderas mexicana, and the el Cindi. Their queso is amazing and even better if you ask for the queso carnitas. Wash all that down with a frozen mango margarita and you will not be disappointed! They always decorate the place according to the season or holiday, changing the atmosphere just a bit. I must say they went over the top for Valentine's Day and it created a perfect date night. It is hands down our favorite place to eat in Topeka. Give it a try I'm sure you will agree. read more

Amigo's earns 4-stars in part for their awesome service and enthusiasm. The staff here is upbeat and generally fantastic. We brought a group of 14 for dinner after a long Saturday on the racetrack. No reservation, they quickly arranged tables to accommodate us. The food: not necessarily "authentic" Mexican, there's plenty of cheese in these dishes. The Chicken Especiale is a cheese sauce and chicken mixture served with a serious helping of Mexican rice. The pork tamale that I ordered a la carte was excellent, topped with a nice enchilada sauce. We got the bean dip appetizer (refried beans and white cheese sauce) and beef nachos (chips, "too spicy" the kid said, ground beef, cheese sauce). My husband had enchiladas mole, which was long on cheese and a little bit lackluster, but still somehow satisfying after a long working day. Finally: many margaritas were consumed by our group. They used iodized salt for the glass rims (man, get some kosher salt please,) but they were perfectly strong and yielded repeat orders, along with many different Mexican beers served with lines. The staff also did a fun birthday song for a guest while we were there. If you're in this part of town, don't drive twenty minutes to another restaurant. Hot chips, great fresh salsa and cold drinks are just down the street. read more

OK food with some unique menu items. Service has been good both times we've been. Only 3 stars though for them not having their liquor license this last time we went last week and not posting that on the door or anywhere in the establishment. You need to post that to be honest with folks before they sit down and then have to make a choice either to walk out or to stay. Must of lost it in the month between when we went last. Waiter had to tell multiple tables that they couldn't serve beer or frozen drinks after people ordered. Gotta have a cerveza or 'Rita with my mex food, but we stayed and ate anyway. Double fajitas were so-so, not a big of portion as other similar places. We've been to their west Topeka location and it was nicer exterior/interior wise and we'll be back to that one when we are on that side of town. read more

Solid 4 stars, if not 5. I've only been there once, so hard to say 5 stars. I had the Sancho, which was the lunch special. It was delicious. Big portion, and I ate every bite. The side items (lettuce, tomato, etc) were very fresh. The plate had guacamole as garnishment. It was also very, very good. Next time I would order that as a dip. Great 1st experience. read more

I dined first at the South Topeka Restaurant and it was good. Then I went to the Southwest Topeka location and had a completely different experience. The margaritas were terrible, the service very slow and the food was bland at best. One item ordered never did arrive at our table. The wait staff seemed more concerned with their conversation than with serving customers. I was very disappointed. read more

Let me preface this by saying I went to their second location which is at the former Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant at 29th and Wanamaker (near Hy-Vee). The staff were nice and efficient. I tried their giant burrito (don't recall what it was called here). It was just okay. I prefer this item at other local Mexican eateries. Finally found it, and they gave me beef instead of chix in my fajitas , I had ordered chix , and they upcharged me for the beef. Not alot of English was spoken and it was difficult to communicate. Though the only things I have had here is the taco, cheese dip and salsa, I like this place. I do recommend that you call ahead if you are in a hurry, some of the girls seem to get a little frazzled if they have to take orders and check out customers at the same time. Food is tasty though. read more
