This thing was hugged packed with meat, eggs and potatoes with the cheese added on is a hearty breakfast. The burrito can easily feed 2 hungry people or carry over for for another meal. Choose your own salsa but beware the salsa is on point in terms of heat. If you like regular salad as these aren't for you they have flavor and hit according to the flames on the bar. The green miler one is great. The menu looks to have a large variety of combos and selections. Some may say this place is a bit expensive but for what you get the price seems reasonable. read more

The food is usually pretty good. They do get a deduction because when you order ground beef or chicken, they don't drain the liquid and it can be pretty messy to eat. I love the condiment bar with the different fresh salsas, and other items. The portions can be pretty large depending on what you order. read more

It takes a lot for me to give 5 stars. I eat here way to often. I love Mexican food and I've sought the best wherever I go. Las Vegas, Phoenix and surrounding area, multiple parts of New Mexico, Texas, Southern California (including right inside the border) are some of the few notable locations. However if you're in Topeka this is the spot. You won't get free chips and salsa :( buy it's worth the few dollars. Their salsa is some of the best I've found. 14 selections from mild to hot, but they do their hot right. It's not just something meant to give you blisters. All of their salsa is packed with flavor and that's rare in many locations as the temps increase. Their rice and beans are always welcomed. Their shredded beef recipe I wish I owned! All of this and the price is good. It's easy to buy to much food so watch it. You won't leave this place unhappy so treat yourself. read more

I went to the mexican taco shop on burlingame rd in topeka on 10/19/18 for lunch. I was there at 1:17pm order number 137. I ordered a chimichanga with white queso and side of chips. The menu stated the chimichanga came with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guac, and pico. First of all when i got back to work and opened up what i had ordered, i noticed no guac. Second the queso was very runny instead of thick and creamy like most other mexican queso is. This resulted in my food container leaking all over the bag. The menu never mentioned any enchilada sauce in the chimichanga and when i cut into it, i noticed a dark red sauce coming out of it that was way too spicy. They also did not put the sides (sour cream and pico) in little cups since it was a to go order so the sour cream essentially liquified due to the heat of the food. Overall it was a sloppy mess and the only thing good was the chips. I should have stuck with my first choice to go to taco bell....very dissatisfied. read more

First time patron. Visited at noon on a Wednesday. The service was mediocre. Really it's an order taker, asking for a tip, but not serving, getting drinks, condiments, flatware, etc. The line was short when I placed my order, but by the time my order was up, there were four people in line, and someone came up from the back room to assist the original order taker. We ordered two orders of the two carne asada tacos, but did not receive the rice and beans. I should've said the word "meal", or the meal number. The two tacos filled up the entire take-out box though, so there was a lot of food. We also got one order of chips, queso, two large drinks, and two churros. The total was $30, which I think was a bit expensive for the food and service that was given. The queso is runny but has a good flavor. The order of chips is large, and had a decent flavor. There is an island in the middle of the seating area that has a variety of sauces. The large unlabeled one in the middle is their mild salsa. The rest of them have labels, including a heat index. The churros were not good at all. They were cold and hard as if they had been prepped earlier. We tried to eat them first, so they were obviously that way when served. Both orders were thrown away after the first bite. The ambience is colorful. No plaster and terra-cotta, more drywall and metal tin roofing. There is no background music, so conversations were easily overheard, with chunks of dead silence. I don't think we will return, especially since there are so many other, better options for tacos in Topeka. read more

Everything I've gotten from here has been amazing!! I love that they have a salsa bar so you can try out different salsas and such and their queso us to die for. I do think they could lower the prices a little bit it's a little on the pricier end but it's 100% worth it. read more

The portions here for the prices are great. The food is pretty basic, but still good. Service is quick and friendly. I really appreciate the condiments bar where you can fix up your own sides and salsa. They do have a little area where they serve up drinks and margaritas, but I've never been here when someone was getting a drink, nor have I ever had one here, so I can't say if they are delicious or not. read more

Ate here last Friday after work. I ordered the ground beef and pork tacos. The tacos came out very quick and the restaurant is new and clean inside. Both tacos were overflowing with lettuce, tomato, cheese and meat. The ground beef taco was a 5 star alone, but I am not a huge cilantro person so I'd give the pork taco a 4. I still have a few taco places to try in Topeka, but this is the best restaurant for good and cheap tacos I have been to. read more

I went in there a few months ago to check it out as I was excited a Mexican restaurant had opened up close to my house. I stood by the front order place and was the only one in line. I observed a young man and woman standing at the back of the restaurant within eye shot of me. They definitely saw me and after a minute they made NO attempt to communicate with me OR take my order, they continued with their leisure conversation. After that first minute, I timed it and after 3 full minutes they stayed in their spot and continued to ignore me, so I left the restaurant. The sad thing is that they lost someone who could definitely been a regular customer as this type food is my favorite. read more

This restaurant is very easy to order from through EatStreet. Their food is fantastic, too! Great selection, good prices, and fast service. Of all the times I have eaten there (and it's a lot of times, believe you me!) they have never messed up my order and the food was always of high quality. The Mexican Taco Shops in Topeka are a favorite for a lot of local people who want Tex-Mex, Mexican style food. The prices average around $8 which include 1 entree, rice and beans. It can be expensive if you get combination plates. If you purchase a combo platter, expect to pay between $12 to $15. We visited Thursday evening around 7PM. The restaurant was busy with a lot of people waiting for take out orders. You place your order and pay at the front counter. They give you a number for your meal. Because this restaurant recently opened and because a lot of people were waiting for take out orders and dining in orders, we had to wait about 10 minutes. I ordered the Pancho Burrito Special and my husband ordered the shredded beef enchiladas, both entrees cost $7.95. The Pancho Burrito Special is served with green verde sauce. I asked the woman at the counter who spicy the verde sauce would be. She said "None our sauces are spicy." Wrong! The verde sauce is spicy ~ just fair warning. It is a large burrito with shredded beef, rice and beans inside the tortilla. My only complaint is that the tortilla was tough. It was difficulty to cut thru the tortilla with a plastic knife. The filling is mostly rice and beans with some shredded beef mixed in. It has a good flavor, but I'm not sure if I would purchase this again. The Pancho Special Burrito is served with Mexican Rice and refried beans. Both have an average flavor, bu good. I will order the shredded beef enchiladas next time I am at this restaurant. They looked really good. If you want chips and salsa, you pay extra for the chips, then select your salsa and sauces from the salsa bar. You get a huge serving of chips, plenty for a table to 4 to share. Everything is served on styrofoam plates and plastic forks and knives. Not my favorite way to dine, but for the cheaper price, it is to be expected. Napkins are a cheap brown paper at the counter by the beverages. There are plenty of tables for two and four. The woman at the register was friendly and extremely patient waiting on people to place their orders. read more
