The service was fantastic and my sisters box braids came out gorgeous! Beautiful braiding wasn't the only highlight, Amina is also a wonderful person. Amina's salon is a small, cozy shop located on moderately busy street in Everett. There are three braiding stations with large mirrors and about five chairs in a waiting area along a mirrored wall. A small water station is snuggled between the waiting area and a microwave and the floors are tiled black and white. The salon was clean and quiet during my visit. On to the braiding and service! Pros: - Booking was fairly easy. I called on a Saturday and Amina was able to get me in the very next day, Sunday. - Since it was a Sunday, parking was free and easy to find. I was able to park directly in front of the salon. - Amina did not my braid my hair (she styled a different customer), but the woman who did was great. She was fast and mindful of my edges and worked hard to achieve the style I desired. There was no pain at all during or after. - Food! Amina offered me rice and fish and it was delicious :) - Pricing was reasonable for my hair length, style, and the amount of time it took to complete the look. - Cons: - I waited almost an hour past my scheduled appointment time (not a big deal for me, but might be for you) before I got in the chair. - The bathroom is not located in the salon, but can be accessed through the back door and across from the shop. None of the cons were a big deal for me, but should be noted because they may affect your experience. I would definitely recommend Amina's shop, she is funny, lighthearted and chatty. She and her staff made my time there easy and painless! read more

We scheduled an appointment with Amina for my bonus daughter. When we arrived the door was locked. My significant other questioned Amina, who responded saying she would be there in 10-15 minutes. We waited. 20 minutes later the shop door is still locked and the lights are off. Again, my other half corresponds with her, she says she will be there. We waited an hour past our appointment time, she still hadn't shown up. We have other things to do to get this girl ready for school, so daughter and I decide to leave when my significant other calls to tell us Amina is 5 minutes away and will do his daughter's hair for free for making us wait. So, we turn around and wait, again, for 15 minutes. We finally left after waiting for an hour and 20 minutes past our appointment time. What a let down. Now our daughter doesn't have her hair done for her first day in a new school. I'm very disappointed. read more

I had my hair braided by Aminata and Fatu on the 21st of July and let me tell you it was amazing. My hair style exceeded my expectations and was professionally done. Amina is very warm and friendly and insisted on getting me something to eat. They were really funny and we had some great conversations which made the time go by really fast. My husband and kids stopped by when I was about done but we still spent another half hour chatting with the ladies. She is very warm and compassionate and made my kids feel at home with her. She is my new go-to hair braider, and even though I live in Oak Harbor, I have no problem in traveling to her salon to get my hair done. I have been going to Amina's braiding for probably five years. I found her shop which was kind of on a fluke because the shop I was going to cancel my appointment the same day of the appointment so I was desperate because I took day off work to have my hair braided and I remember someone telling me about the shop so I drove down there and I called the number on the door and she was able to do my hair that day!!!!! We went in today only planning on setting up an appointment to get box braids done. Apparently we lucked out! She was just finishing up on another ladies head and graciously stayed an extra 4 plus hours to get my daughter's hair done. I don't even think she knows the pure happiness it gave my daughter who is on the autism spectrum. To go in expecting to schedule an appointment and than have her watch the transition of fro to beautiful long braids was truly amazing! It was my first time ever having my hair braided and Amina made it a positive experience. Amina is very personable and greeted me with a hug the first time I'd met her after arriving at her shop. She braided quickly and the result is absolutely beautiful. At one point, Amina's helper arrived and began braiding my hair along with Amina (she was excellent also).
