The dog park part is primarily covered in wood bedding which is nice for lack of mud, and our pets love playing with the wood bits. Great place, highly recommend. Wish we lived closer to it, though.

The dog park is located in the back right corner of the park. There are two sections: one designated for small dogs and one that all dogs can go to. The area is fenced off, which is great because my dogs aren't the best off leash yet (lol). The area is all bark, which can be a little rough on your pups paws if they aren't callused yet. They have a lot of things for the dogs to jump on, over, and through. And of course, a fire hydrant for the dogs to pee on! The only downside is dogs are just like any animal, anything can set them off. We have seen some dogs go after others but it hasn't happened to us. Some dogs are much more aggressive than others. Please make sure your dog is up to date on their vaccines and are friendly! Everyone will have a good time

We came in the middle of the day and walked parts of the shady paths, but would definitely be interested in coming back in the evening or earlier morning to do some of the less shaded paths. Be sure to read up on the intensity, lengths, and incline of the paths before you go, because it can be confusing once you get there. There are well marked signs to signify the directions on the path you are on, but it's easy to get back if you get lost. What a beautiful area! The bathrooms just down the road outside the bike park are really well kept.

At many dog parks, the small dog section is often an afterthought, a far less desirable spot. But Waggin Tails is different; the small dog area is a large enclosure with two hiking hills covered in artificial grass. There's sidewalks that circle the hills and crosses over one of them. The parking area is adequate and there is on-street parking available if the lot is full. There are trash cans and poop bag dispensers. The park is kept very clean.

My experience so far: Burnt pads on feet from running while playing ball. Conjunctivitis after playing there. Other owners told me of their experiences: Dogs contracted Giardia - several of them. The sunset view at the top was absolutely stunning, we came on a clear day and could see the entire city blanketed in trees. Such a breathtaking sight and definitely a must-see when visiting Boise. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and there were kids soccer games, folks playing tennis, families working out, and all ages hiking the hills. Behind the park is even tons of winding trails for both hiking and biking. While the climb up to the top of the main hill wasn't all that long, it was definitely steep. With the sun beaming down, it felt rather invigorating and provided a nice feeling of accomplishment making it to the top. This park definitely is a special part of town and it's clear that local residents definitely cherish and appreciate it!
