Gate that swings over the rocks was difficult to use, especially if one-handed. Men's restroom arrangement was odd, as there was only one urinal, and it was child size, then two toilets, but one did not have a door. They should have more seating upon entry before entering into the club proper. Unfortunately, there were no dog treats available and the only toys they provide are full size tennis balls. The day we went was not crowded, but the parking lot was, which makes me concerned if I happen to go on a day with many dogs, and owners, then I won't be able to find close parking. My smaller dog was approached by two larger aggressive dogs that did snap at my dog, and the owners took control to correct the situation, but staff did not. . Conclusion- I would return, but honestly it is not a convenient location for us, so I would not make this a regular place to visit.

It's difficult to find, off E Amity Ave and the railroad tracks. I've been to several dog parks in CA and in comparison, this place is large and well maintained. Went around 8:30am on a Sunday and it was not too crowded. Mostly large dogs running around. . . and I mean running around. I could tell some knew the place pretty well. They were tearing the place up! Watching dogs play with abandon is such a happy sight. The main walking path is dirt and rocks and makes a circle in the park. At the back end is a nice grassy hill with trees. A large pond is in the middle and was closed off, but I'm sure is open during the warmer months. There was a man-made stream in the back area, too. An impressive small dog area is to the right side. Only saw one small dog while I was there and at one point, the owner joined the rest of us in the main area of the park. No other dogs bothered him or showed aggression. When spring comes, the grass and trees will be in their prime and this park will just be beautiful. So here's my review- Someone might ask, "Hailei, you don't even have a dog, why do you go to IPA?" Valid question! I mean, I got my dog fix without having to own a dog. And in today's instance, I reminded myself why I don't own a dog. One of the main reasons I do like going here is I'm a big fan of Hard Kombucha, and they're one of a few select places that serves Boise Booch! This time they had spiced apple on tap which I wrote in my review of Booch that it's one of my faves. The 2 times I had been here before, it was 100% a 5 star experience. This time dogs were just a little too rambunctious for me. People might say that's dumb for me to even make a remark, I mean I'm literally at a dog park. Mariposa Park is one of my favorite spots to take my dog. It's peaceful, usually not crowded, and tucked away in a quiet neighborhood so it feels like a hidden gem. The butterfly theme is really cute ("mariposa" means butterfly in Spanish) and there's a pollinator garden with signs about Monarchs and other pollinators. It's not the shadiest park yet, so on hot days I bring water for both of us. There's no playground here, but if you're looking for one, Winstead Park is just a few minutes away. If you want a calm, dog-friendly spot away from the busier parks, this is a great choice.

Yes, there are two - one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs. Not only that, but we also walk them around the full park until they've had enough exercise. Discovery is a HUGE park with baseball fields, dog parks, a skate and biking park, plus a well-built and fun play area for kids. I'm pretty sure we walked by a huge sand pit for kids to plain too! Discovery park mixes all the fabulous things of a traditional park with educational pieces about Idaho. The play structure is great. It has usual bits like slides and nets to climb, but it also has funky bridges, musical components and a variety of ladders. There are two very long zip lines with the attached seat, making it perfect for all ages. (Yes even my 32 year old husband thought it was amazing) There are these super fun roller slides that are fun for older kids to try and climb, but also littles who don't like to go too fast on a slide. I love that this is the rubberized surface. When you have an early walker, this is the best type of park to go to. Behind the play structure is the best part of this park. They have a water feature to help kids learn about Idaho rivers! Kids can play in the sand, dig ditches and levies and divert water streams. There is also a traditional splash pad around the side. There are three covered picnic areas, large bathrooms and plenty of parking. This is a wonderful new park addition to our community!

For much of the year, the Optimist Youth Sports Complex functions as the name implies--as a sports…read morecomplex. This makes sense--wide expanses of green grass and great parking make for an ideal spot for recreational teams to play. During the off season, however, it functions as an off leash dog area (June-early September, and again November 1-end of February). Huge fields for your doggie pals to run in make this a favorite spot for locals and their puppy pals. I bring my English Setter, Liesel, here because she needs space that will allow her to all out run and their fields provide just such a place (without ever getting too near any streets or parking areas). There are two ponds on the site. I've actually seen people fishing in one of the ponds. The ponds often have ducks in them, so if your dog is interested in birds at all, you may have a hard time keeping them out of the water (Liesel ends up sneaking in nearly every time). There are also paved pathways for strolling as well as tennis courts and picnic areas (both covered and uncovered). I love any area where I can bring my dogs off-leash and this provides a good one. I will say that though many people do bring their dogs here, it's so large that it provides less of a socialization setting and more of a space to run off some energy, which works out quite well for my girl.
