We were happy to see a gelato shop at Costa Maya. It had a very nice atmosphere, and comfortable seating. Initially, it was very hot inside when waiting for our order. It was much cooler & breezier once we made our way to the other entrance on the Aviarus side where most people were seated. Thankfully, there was no line when we were there which made it a pleasant experience. Their signature cone that is shaped like a rose was a very nice treat. We selected strawberry, pineapple, mango, and dark chocolate for our cone creation. The strawberry macaron made it even more special. It was the cherry on top. The service was good. We originally asked if they can do it in a cup form rather than the cone. No can do, and I totally can see why after seeing her working on the cone. The price was kind of steep. About $16 for the signature macaron cone? I mean, it was an artful labor of love. It also happens to be located in a very touristy part of the Yucatan Peninsula. But, I'm guessing that their prices are similar to the one on Bay Street at International Plaza in Tampa. Our favorite flavor was mango. Would I get it again? Absolutely! Amorino - Desserts Near Me - Mahahual, ROO

A gelato shop located in the cruise port village at Costa Maya, this location of the franchise serves up delicious desserts, perfect for a very hot day during our cruise stop. Amorino (meaning little love in Italian) is a multi-national chain (over 300 locations) of boutique gelato shops, founded in France. There is a bit of seating inside, and the rush of customers seems to come in waves: all 4 workers could be inundated with customers at one point, but then have no customers a few minutes later. There wasn't a line when we came, so was able to find a seat. Free samples are encouraged, and there is free wi-fi (not requiring a password or PII being given) which we took advantage of. I wanted a shake, so since strawberry wasn't offered, got mint chocolate chip instead ($12)....first time I had that flavor in a shake and it was very good. It was drizzled with chocolate syrup and real whipped cream. My brother got a 3 scoop ($11), and they were generous with the scoops, definitely smashing it in there to fit the small cup. All the workers were genuinely friendly. They can also be used as a 'shortcut' to through the cruise village a little bit faster, bypassing some shops to get to the exit. A lot of people were taking advantage of that, and the shoppe didn't seem to mind. Will keep the name Amorino for gelato in mind when visiting other places...it's a good place to stop in for ice cream. read more

Aside from the ridiculous prices, this is a nice place to get real sorbet and gelato. The cruise ship offers passable ice cream, but after a hot day in Mexico, this gelateria was calling me to it. The line was probably 10 deep and moving slowly. It gave me plenty of time to decide what I wanted. I got the cone because it's very nicely presented. The cups come in just scoops, but the cones come in nice petal shapes. It's very instagramable. They also allow you to sample flavors before you decide and you can choose 3 flavors, even for the smallest size. I got the passion fruit and raspberry. Both were delicious. I ate my cone on the 15 minute walk back to the ship. Lol. They also offer crepes, coffee, macarons and milkshakes. Prices are pretty high, but everything in the costa maya port is going to cost more. They accept dollars here, but don't have change. They do accept credit cards! read more
