Exceeded expectations in all fronts,…read more After 10 years of overdue hernia surgery, my spouse had hernia repair surgery with Dr Novitsky yesterday morning and the quality of care, patient education, and compassion from Dr Novitsky and his care team; including the anestheologist doctor with the very cool blue eyewear glasses; Consalvo NP, and assistants like Lisa, Sabrina, Courtney and others were above and beyond what we and our family has experienced in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, MarylanFlorida or California. My spouse's last surgery was over 20 years ago in Connecticut and at that time, they had a very tough time waking up after the surgery and had to remain in hospital two days - after that experience, they have been very worried of being put under general anesthesia so that fear had kept them from getting this hernia repair done earlier. With the good guidance of their GP on getting this hernia repair done now vs later, they decided it was time. After being told by another hernia surgeon from another prestigious hospital that due to the size of the hernia, they did not feel comfortable doing laparoscopic repair, he consulted with Dr. Novitsky and his team - who after a thorough examination, felt confident that they could - unless they encountered any other unforeseen findings during the surgery. The surgery went well and the care that Dr . Novitsky and his team took in educating us about the surgery, and "listening" to the anesthesia concerns from previous surgeries was exceptional. Even as my spouse was about to be put under general anesthesia and started to hyperventilate - the simple compassionate act by Dr Novitsky's anestheologist (cannot remember her name but she was the one with the very cool blue glasses) to place her hand on my spouse and let them know that it was going to be ok - that was true care at its best! My spouse was already coming out of the anesthesia when rolled back in the room and very thankful to Lisa, Sabrina, Courtney and others that even laughed at their bad jokes - but the good news on the bad jokes was that while they did not improve with the surgery or the anesthesia - they were a clear indication that they were back to normal. My son referred me to him. I checked out his Instagram and realized that Dr Wong specializes in Bunionplasty. I thought to myself, I want him to do my surgery. I scheduled a consultation with him. He proofs to be experienced, knowledgeable and works with innovative techniques. On top of that he is genuinely a very nice and professional doctor. Dr Wong explained the procedure and process step by step. Surgery was a breeze and painless. I walked out of the hospital with a cane after surgery. Pain after surgery is minimal. Pain medicine and Tylenol was able to take care of that. Recovery requires a little patience but I'm back on my feet in time frame that was expected. I have both of my feet done, two weeks apart and i have received the same profession experience both times. It's been 3 months since my surgery and i am very happy with how my feet looks and feel. So far i am wearing sneakers and am able to travel and move around comfortably on my feet. Dr David Wong is the best doctor to choose if you are considering bunion correction. I would give him a 5 star review and a A+++.

I started seeing Dr. Demarco when I was 8-10 weeks pregnant I think. Now I am 31 weeks and I am no longer her patient. I don't think she is a bad doctor but the people she is working with don't even match a 3-star rating. I don't want to harm Dr. Demarco's reputation but she needs to understand how hurt I am. We found Dr. Demarco through a friend's recommendation. She was kind and professional. She seemed a bit stoic and distant which wasn't an issue for me. I don't have to be best friends with my doctor. But whenever she was in the examination room for me I felt rushed and she spent a lot of time looking at the computer screen and our appointments wouldn't be more than 10 minutes. Somehow I couldn't articulate myself to her during the very quick examination and remember I had all these things to ask after she left. None of these was a problem for me, after one day I had an emergency. One day at work I realized my right ankle started to get swollen and I called the doctor's office. The person on the phone put me on hold several times or hung up on me. The longest I waited on the phone was 8 minutes after that I just gave up. After me trying for more than an hour to reach someone, the nurse told me I need to go to the nearest Columbia doctor's location asap. Which is the Midtown location for me 51st St. She said I might have a blood clot and they need to do a Doppler ultrasound on my legs. She also said I might have to wait a bit long because I didn't have an appointment. They would just squeeze me in. So I went running to the Radiology department. The girl on the desk said I will have to wait.I waited an hour then I asked when they can take me in, she said she doesn't know and they are 45 mins behind schedule. She refused to tell me how long I'd wait and she was so dismissive. She didn't care that I was pregnant. I went back and forth and after waiting for 3 hours I kind of made a scene there. One of the girls finally got up and spoke to some people and they took me to the Cardiology department. After waiting another 15 mins in there I was finally in the ultrasound room. Of course, I googled everything about blood clots and I came to find very scary things and I panicked! Every minute they kept me waiting there could be hurting my baby. Luckily I didn't have any blood clot. But I still wanted to know why my right ankle got so big in a couple of hours. I spoke to her nurse and secretary and they said the doctor is not available now and I told them she has to call me back and up until today she never did! I really expected a simple apology from her for the incompetence of the people she is working with. I just can't believe a big institution like Columbia Doctors can make a pregnant woman with a serious health concern wait for 3 hours for a simple procedure like Doppler Ultrasound!!! It was one of the worst days of my life and I had an anxiety attack because of these people. The girl in the Radiology department was so dismissive and acted like I am being crazy! I am from another country and asked my American friends if that is normal and everyone was shocked to hear the way they treated me and with their recommendation I changed my doctor and the hospital. In my first visit with my new doctor, she asked me if I am taking my Iron pills and I said no one told me to. She got my medical records from Columbia doctors and saw I am low in iron and she was surprised they never called me about my blood work. So I went a month being anemic and didn't know about it because my doctor never called me! My prenatal vitamins were making me constipated and Dr. Demarco told me I can quit them but the new doctor said I have to take them. I have been suffering from terrible restless legs and leg cramps every night, ever since I started taking the vitamins and the iron I got so much better. I am not blaming Dr. Demarco for the 3-hour wait in the radiology department, but not calling me back when I was trying to reach her was not acceptable. I don't understand how she didn't tell me I was anemic.
