What a great place to come and escape from the cold! Drinks were innovative--never had mix drinks incorporating hot tea before, and they do it well here. Even the food here were delicious. Definitely drop in for a bite or try one of their interesting concoctions while browsing the exchange District!

Dope spot. One of the co-owners is from Glasgow and decided to open up a bar here in Winnipeg. He is super friendly and the food is fantastic. Apparently the beef tartare is some of the best you can find in Winnipeg. Phew.

Great little boutique! In the heart of the exchange district. This place has a great selection of tea, some of it blended and grown here in Manitoba and Winnipeg! They have some really nice pots and other accessories. Mark, the owner definitely has a passion for his work. Can't wait to go back!

Forget Saskatoon, here is Paris on the prairies. In the background, view from Amsterdam Cafe of Artspace Building in The Exchange, Winnipeg.

The food was amazing, the boozy tea cocktails were perfect, and the atmosphere was on point.

I love Poke…read moreand unfortunately, Winnipeg is seriously lacking in Poke options (I believe Chosabi is the only other place that offers Poke). Hawaii Kai is located inside Cityplace mall. It is a take-out spot, catering to the city's downtown office workers. Their menu includes a variety of 'healthy' Hawaiian and Asian cuisine, including salads, smoothies and bubble-tea. I ordered the salmon poke bowl. It came out to about $15. The portion was relatively small for what I expected. The salmon had a strange type of mayo spice on it. The crunch flakes used were reminiscent of cheap Frito corn chips. Overall I was disappointed. I was looking forward to Hawaii Kai as an alternative to Freshii (also located in the mall), but with it being much more expensive for sub-par quality, I think I will be pass on this in the future and head back to Freshii for their rice bowls (I know this is not an apples to apples comparison). This scores 3 out of 5 mainly because of its location and it being the second spot in Winnipeg to offer Poke.

They are not super sweet, keep that in mind, but I think you can ask them to add more sweetness to it. I personally like the real tea taste to my drink. I tried the "Kiwi" flavor tea and added boba/pearls to my drink. I liked it a lot! I went around 5pm and there wasn't anyone there, I had the staff's undivided attention! He was very nice and pleasant. The meals look so good too but I wasn't very hungry at the time. UPDATE: I tried their hummus and egg waffle sandwich and found it pretty good. I don't think the flavors of the egg and hummus go extremely well together but it's not bad. 4 stars for the taste. I also tried the cold blueberry tea and it was delicious. My friend loved his syrup bacon waffles and matcha green tea smoothie.

If you're not willing to go to Panda Tea or Chatime (both quite far from Osborne), this place is probably the best substitute out there for tea. I had the $10.99 lunch special, which consisted of a waffle sandwich and an iced fusion tea. I went with a waffle dog and lychee iced fusion tea. The waffle was quite savoury, but the concept of two waffles with a smokie sausage...didn't seem to fit right. The end product literally looked like a sausage sandwiched between two waffles. It still tasted good though, which I guess is what counts. The iced fusion tea was decent too. Definitely not the best place to dine in the Village, but a good place to sit back and chat/do some work while having a bubble tea and a sandwich.

My mother recently rediscovered her love for Second Cup coffee and it had become an ongoing battle…read moreof "where to go for coffee" between us because up until recently I refused to go anywhere but Starbucks (I'm really, really picky about my lattes). But late last year I decided to buy a pop art ceramic mug for my mom's birthday (she had been eyeing it for months) at this location and I was really impressed with the customer service. It's pretty rare that I experience good customer service ANYWHERE downtown (including Starbucks) so I was really happy that the lady working went out of her way to find me a box with styrofoam to pack the mug in AND a cute paper bag that looked a lot like a gift bag, when I told her it was for my mom's birthday (she didn't charge me extra for either). As for the coffee, I decided I would get my mom a $30 gift certificate (ya I know, original) from the same location for Xmas. They have this promotion on where you recieve a free latte if you put $30 on one of the Second Cup cards/GC so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try a Caramel Corretto. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. My mom was completely right when she told me that their coffee is MUCH stronger in flavour and caffeine than Starbucks. So overall I'm pretty much a convert. I go to university a few blocks away and will definitely be back whenever I need a fix. P.S. The Raspberry Dark Chocolate Latte is delicious.
