I booked the studio with a twin bed and ensuite bathroom. The room was clean and efficiently designed. The room was efficiently designed with a fridge, microwave, hot water boiler, coffee maker, and tv. There was no blow dryer. The bed was quite uncomfortable - so I ended up sleepy on the floor, hence the 3 stars, as everything else was nice or ok. The staff were great and friendly. They gave a complimentary free frozen pizza - nice gesture but the pizza tasted like cardboard. They also offered me a complimentary breakfast. They had plenty of free stuff and vending machines with drinks in the lobby. They also had games and other things in the lobby. The hotel is located very close to the train station, which has a direct line that takes less than 20 minutes to the airport. The hotel is also situated along several bike paths into the city. The hotel is located in west Amsterdam with great Turkish restaurants, however, most places are over a 10 minute walk so it's best to rent a bike. Walking, the Turkish restaurants are about 20 minutes away, on the bike its less than 10 minutes away. I pre-booked a bike as it was cheaper. The bike was easy to use but the light wasn't working, which made biking at night a little dangerous. There was also a lot of parking spaces. Being located in west Amsterdam, there's a lot of green space - so that was nice.

Amsterdam is the dream city to visit for anyone new to Europe (speaks english, clean, easy to…read moretravel, one united system of bus/train/tram, and 20 mins from all the fun great things to do in the countryside like windmills and fishing village). This hotel is 1 stop down from Amsterdam Centraal. It is in a quiet, chill, and restful spot. If you're someone who's been doing heavy traveling and want a tranquil stay with modern and nice amenities, I highly recommend this place. It was the best hotel I've stayed so far in Europe and I intend to stay in Mercure hotels going forward. Location of this hotel is literally across the street from the Sloterdijk station. Very safe walk even if at night. There's a SPAR along your way for any last min essentials. Highly recommend the day passes to travel out to fun areas. The staff were very kind and friendly. Front desk is smooth, mint water, gave out cookies and rubber duckies for Christmas, fruits to snack on. Front area has 2 computers to use, nice electric fireplace. Building is tall and modern. Only thing is, it seems they are still under construction for the other half of all floors with rooms. I am not sure why, so it can be a little strange. Rooms: Large and spacious and modern. Some people will complain it's dark. I agree- the rooms are painted black and purple tones and feels dark. However, the closets have lights, the shower is luxurious (cloud shower), beds are super comfortable and compared to most European cramped hotel rooms, this feels luxurious and almost like American. Cleaning: If you actually leave the little note out there telling them your room really doesn't need to be cleaned, you can get 5$ a day off the Skylounge in coupons. I thought that was super neat. On my last day I had accumulated 10 $ and got to try their excellent Taglatelle pasta. Food: there is breakfast for about 22$ a person- a little pricy but compared to other continental breakfasts I've seen, they have a larger spread. They have fresh juices, herring, all kinds of cold cuts, fancy seating, great coffee machine and just a great spread. I highly recommend it if you are a big breakfast eater and are about to go out for the day and need a fuller meal.

I visited this hotel the first time around a week after…read morethey opened and that experience was not the best as they were perhaps not really ready to open at that time but it is a totally different experience after that. The hotel is in a convenient location for me when I travel for business to Amsterdam. As most of the business I do is at the airport I have often stayed there but after several visits per month for many years I was sick and tired of the airport hotels so this is easy access being next to Sloterdijk and also makes it easy to go into town for dinner. After the chaos of the first visit the service has been really good. Always friendly and fast at check-in and they keep track of loyalty benefits and special requests. The elevators at this place are a bit weird (no buttons in the elevator so need to select the floor outside) but now seems to work. They have a very small gym but I have never seen anyone else use it. The rooms are a bit dark but that is more a decoration choice and it works ok, just a bit weird with portraits on the wall staring at the bed. Everything is new and works well. They have the essentials so safe, mini-bar, TV, iron and ironing board. Free wifi is reliable and reasonably fast. The restaurant at the top floor is decent and prices are acceptable. Good selection of beer (some local craft ones) as well as ok wine selection. Food is not amazing but good enough for a hotel. The atmosphere is nice and there are plenty of seats. Breakfast is also served there and it is a nice and fresh breakfast.

This Meininger is conveniently located just steps away from the Sloterdijk station, which made for easy and quick access to Amsterdam city central, to the airport, and beyond. It seemed there were always large school groups in the lobby making the typical teenage ruckus, but when we entered our floor it was quiet and we didn't have any issues with noise. Our room was small, as expected, but had what we needed (hair dryer, 2 towels per person, a tiny tv) and was clean. The front desk was more than happy to provide us with extra towels when we asked. The shared kitchen had the essentials: stove, microwave, pans, cups, bowls, utensils, hot water kettle etc. We didn't do any heavy cooking (mainly just used hot water kettle and the water kettle), so it worked for us. We noticed a mouse skittering around the shared kitchen multiple times as well as right outside the building so just beware if you plan to do more heavy cooking and plan to store your food in the common area.

It's a quick train ride or tram ride to a lot of the fun stuff in the center of the city so if that doesn't bother you, no biggie. There was not a ton of restaurants/cafes/bars in walking distance nearby, but there was a couple. Obviously not as extensive as in the middle of the city. There's a kitchen, bar, lockers, and a luggage room in the main lobby. The staff was pretty helpful and nice as well. I thought the rooms were clean and the bathroom/shower was nice. There was 6 of us in a room with 2 bunk beds and two twin beds that we could push together or apart. Sheets were clean, the room was spacious and there was a tv in the room as well. I would stay here again as long as you're okay with the location! I enjoyed my time here.

It seemed to me a good place to get pick-pocketed as it is a very noisy and crowded station and area right outside the hotel. My advice would be to pay close attention to your belongings as you walk from the station to the hotel. That being said, the Holiday Inn Express Sloterdijk is like a diamond in the rough. As soon as we entered, we relaxed immediately in the quiet atmosphere. There is a grocery store on the first level of the hotel as well as a restaurant, which we didn't try. You take an elevator up one floor to get to the reception desk to check in. We stayed at this hotel two times on our Amsterdam trip, for one night each time. Both stays were excellent. As an IHG Rewards member, I was thrilled that we were able to check in early on our first visit. On our second visit, we had to wait a couple hours to check in. We went to the nearby Starbucks to wait as the hotel lobby was very crowded with people waiting to check in. On both stays, we were given a room with an odd number. I was glad, because I had read in another Yelp review that the odd numbered rooms were quieter. The odd numbered rooms face the trains but the train noise did not bother us. We had rooms pretty high up, which probably helped in that regard. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. I liked the toiletries in the bathroom. They had my second favorite hotel breakfast on the trip, and the cool thing is the breakfast is included with the room, which is pretty rare in Europe. You had to let the front desk know which hour-long "shift" you wanted for breakfast in order for them to have enough seating for everyone. We picked the early shift (from 7 - 8 am). There was plenty of food and seating during that shift. They had plentiful pastries (my favorite!), yogurt, fruit, cereal, Dutch cheeses, juices, and hot food items available. Both times we stayed at this hotel, we at dinner at the Hermes restaurant, which is just across from this hotel, literally steps away. We loved sitting outside at that restaurant, enjoying their wonderful food and service. The Sloterdijk Station is only two train stops from the airport and one train stop to the Central station in Amsterdam. We would definitely stay there again.

While not in the city center, the train station is right next door and you can be in town within 8-10 minutes or less. This was perfect for us. The rooms were not huge, but fine for two people. I booked a double bed room but unfortunately did not receive one. If you are sensitive to noise, this may not be the best place for you as it is right next to the train station and the walls are very thin. Two of our nights, people were on the street with a loud speaker and we could hear it all the way from the top floor. I love that breakfast is included at this hotel. Pastries, boiled eggs, fruit, meat, and more. However, I wish the eggs were either pre peeled or scrambled. Overall, I would stay here again!

There is a common kitchenette, sitting space and dining area. Perfect size for 3-4 people. It's well connected by public transport. 6 minutes to Amsterdam centraal by NS train and 15 minutes by NS train to Schipol airport with good frequency. If you aren't in a hurry, there are enough tram stops near by. (30 mins to Amsterdam centraal) Reception staff was very friendly and helpful regarding tickets and passes. It's further away from the city Center, I knew about this location disadvantage before booking. but cost wise it made sense for 3 of us There's a restaurant / cocktail bar downstairs for breakfasts and quick meals. Vending machines for other kinds of food. They have some basic room service too. Toiletries in the bath enough for 2 days and tea and coffee enough for 4 days provided complimentary. There's a supermarket next door if you want to cook in the room, but we just used the kettle for tea in the morning and evening. (Carried out own tea bags from home. They provide some assortment of twinings green and black teas) Cleaning service isn't daily, so you need to keep your apartment tidy, but they provide all bedding and linen and towels. There's a coin laundry downstairs (we didn't use it) in case you need to get something washed. So it's a good option for long stays too.

It was cool since I traveled with two others and we were able to get three separate twin sized beds. The only downfall is this hotel isn't close to the main/central part of Amsterdam. Walking takes about 50 min and public transportation isn't that much better. I recommend hailing an Uber since it's a quicker commute to the main Amsterdam area. There are two conveniently located grocery stores and a gym that's $5 Euros/day (just ask the front desk for a gym flyer). The other things I found to be bothersome besides the distance from downtown: -My bedsheet was dirty and I pulled it off but Housekeeping put the dirty sheet back on my bed. That's a big no-no! -The shower had a weird half closure door which looks aesthetically nice but the shower water somehow comes out and flies onto the toilet/bathroom floor Overall, if you're looking to stay at a place away from the downtown area, this is a good choice. However, if you want to be in the downtown Amsterdam area, you're better off booking elsewhere.

My room was very clean and the shower head was delightful; it was one of those rainfall shower heads with decent water pressure. Beds were comfortable and the place was pretty quiet, at least during my stay. The free wifi was wonky -- don't depend on it for long FaceTime or skype video chats. Front desk staff varied from super nice and smiley to I-want-a-new-job snarky. Transport tip: Best way from Centraal Station is to take bus 21 to Plein 40 45. Yes, that is the name of the bus stop. The ride is about 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. When you get off the bus, cross the road and walk straight. You will see a blue hotel on the left (5 minute walk). I'd stay here again as I don't mind being a little further out of the main attraction area. There is a cute mall a few doors down and plenty of places to grab a quick beer.

Hotel2Stay offers a practical trade-off for travelers who prioritize budget and transit…read moreaccessibility over a central "cozy" vibe. Its greatest asset is undoubtedly the location; it is just a short walk from the Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, which serves as a major hub for the rail, metro, bus, and tram lines. Getting into Amsterdam Central is incredibly quick and easy, making this a much more affordable way to get more square footage for your money compared to staying in the heart of the city. The rooms themselves are decent, though it is worth noting they look a bit more polished in the professional photos than they do in person. We found the layout slightly awkward and had to move the table away from the wall to make it usable, which unfortunately then partially blocked the path to the bathroom and kitchen. Another minor point of concern was the lack of an interior deadbolt or security latch on the door. While we never felt truly unsafe, my partner did feel the need to wedge a chair against the door at night to feel more secure. Our stay was unfortunately marred by one major issue when the hot water cut out completely during a late-night shower. I had to rinse off soap with freezing water on a cold night, and because the room heating wasn't particularly strong, I actually had to wear my coat afterward just to warm up. While the staff was very apologetic, they were unable to explain or fix the issue at the time. Regarding the local area, it felt generally fine to me as someone used the crazies in NYC, though the hotel does lock the front doors in the evening for security. We did witness some public urination right outside the front doors, which was quite unpleasant and speaks to the "transit hub" nature of the neighborhood. On the positive side, the hotel offers convenient luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. There is also a small but functional gym on-site that I used a few times, which certainly gets the job done for a quick workout. The free Wi-Fi isn't the fastest I've used, but it was stable enough for me to handle some work. Prospective guests should also be prepared for a 100 euro deposit at check-in; I used my card and it was refunded promptly at checkout, but they do accept cash as well. Ultimately, while it wasn't the smoothest or most luxurious experience, it served its purpose as a functional, affordable base for exploring the city.
