But I WAS surprised that in bike city no one came up with this idea erlier. I saved their number on my mobile phone despite my naive hope that I'll never have to call them. Shortly after I had to and I was thankful to hear that one of them was in the hood and I didn't have to wait too long. The guy came equipped with spare wheel, bike pump and toolset. The bike was quickly fixed and I don't remember what the service cost but I do remember that it is very good value for money and no extra urgency charge. So, I recommend everyone to save the number of DAFT to get quick hassle-free help in bike emergencies.

He went above and beyond to fix my husband's bike. He put the pedal crank back on, tightened a few things and oiled the chain. Very nice guy. I emailed them over a holiday weekend, so it took a little while to get a response since we had to go back and forth a bit. Very convenient, but I had to wait an extra day since they couldn't meet me until after 11am. And even though I asked for the price ahead of time, they forgot to send it to me. Though, I think the cost was reasonable. I would just make sure you know the price before you go if it's not already on the price list. You can pay in cash or they will invoice you and you can transfer the funds that day. They have an app, but it's iOS only for now. :(

When I first arrived there, my bicycle tyre was broken. The shopped said my bicycle was too old, wasn't worthy to fix, so recommended me to buy a new second hand bicycle there rather than fixing my old one and told me I could get three months guarantee for free including the tyre which I asked particularly, so I bought it. A week later, I found irregular and frequent noisy from the pedal axis, I took it there, the shopper was very impatient and told me he fixed it, but actually not. I still often hear it. A month later, the tyre was broken, and I took it to the shop and told the shopper it was within three months. He didn't say anything about the fixing fee and just told me when it is fixed he will call me. So I thought it was within 3 months guarantee. But when I got it, I was required to pay 17.5 euros. I feel I was cheated.

I spotted it while on a tram and saw…read morethe amount of second-hand bike outside the store, and since I needed a bike, I went back the next day to check it out. I walked in and waited my turn and I was helped very quickly. In a place like this where they sell bikes, but also work on them, it's a little hard to feel like you aren't in the way. But the service I received was nothing short of great. Speaking of short, I am 5' 1". Do you know how hard it is to find a bike (that isn't a child's bike) in Amsterdam that is second-hand? It's been a while since I've been on a bike and I want as much control as possible on stopping, so I want to be able to touch the ground well. He tried to fit me on the bike I liked (a new one), but it just wasn't happening. He lowered the seat, and he even got a smaller seat for me to try...I was simply too short. So, he had one that would definitely fit me and he worked on it for a good 10 minutes at least so that it would work for me. I loved it. It felt right. Funniest part about the whole thing was he said, "here's my card which is also a discount card for your husband's bike" (he brought his from the U.S.). And that's when I figured it out...the owner was helping me! Very nice guy, though he was quite busy. And even when I tried to pay with a chip credit card when he doesn't take those yet, he was patient with me. I gave him 50 euro and he said the bike was mine whenever we came back with cash or a pin debit card. We went back the next day for my husband to see the shop and to pick up my bike. When Danny saw me, he smiled and finished me up with my bike. It was a good experience for me, and would recommend this place. Even when I was waiting or thinking, people would come out of the back to make sure I was being helped. I think the service was great, so do try them out!

Owning a bike in Amsterdam is a must! If you don't own a bike in Amsterdam people will think something is wrong with you. It was now time to raise the bar and add a few features to my bike. Plus, I also needed to repair the tires because it was on it's last leg. My bike was starting to cycle so slow... that I felt like everything was moving in slow motion. So, I stopped in to this shop to repair it. I was very impress with the service here. It's a shop that repairs bikes and sells plenty of new bikes and accessories. The staff at this shop was very accommodating and friendly. This store had a fabulous selection of accessories and bikes. I was very please with the inventory. One my favorites was their bells.I got a beautiful (red, white, blue American bell) to tell tourist to "Move it", as the Dutch would put it "get the hell out of the way". Most of the time you will find tourist wandering all over the bike lane, so it can be a bit annoying. Although, the bike signs are so obvious, people are still oblivious to the signs.

Bikes were well maintained and worked well, except they were heavier and clunkier than our own bikes at home. Once in operation, however, the ride was smooth and the three speed gear worked well on Amsterdam's flat streets. We even took a ride out of Amsterdam into the country, all without a problem. Your deposit is cheerfully refunded upon return. Nice, friendly, accommodating guys running the shop with patience, expertise, and smiles !

I can only mention that I've spotted some familiar faces from the old shop. Unfortunately this one is not so close to my home like the other one but I wanted to give it a try. Another downside of the new location for me is that it's in a way more frequented area, that's why I couldn't get my brake and lights fixed on the spot. Since I had to leave it there I got a leenfiets (think of bringing a legitimatie or credit card for that). With the red bike I immediately felt like a tourist and was tempted to behave accordingly. Lekker de verkeerde kant op fietsen in the middle of the street, stop and turn on the fietspad, just because I can. But I resisted. Today I got my bike back and my conclusion is that I can recommend this Mac Bike because of the friendly staff and good service.
