So when they finally called me me back to tell me they were there to pick us up, I tried to tell them I got another taxi because of their rude service. I literally got the through 'we got another' before they hung up on us. Absolutely terrible service. If you ever need a taxi in Carbondale, get Jet Taxi instead. They are MUCH faster and FAR more polite.

This trail is 15 miles from start to finish. We began in the middle, we rode out to SWIC, the junior college in Belleville, Took a water break and then biked to the other end, which is near the west end of Belleville. It was wide enough for two bikes to meet and runners had plenty of room. This was a nice easy trail.

East Riverfront may shorten my total travel time to/from St. Louis a bit, when I'm just trying to get to a game and avoid downtown parking. But, if I'm going to pay, then I'd rather get a little more of a ride. Often, there's a real live person to sell you a ticket. Otherwise, it's easy to use one of the automated ticket dispensers, $2.25 one way.

It was clean, moderately efficient and no one bothered us. I say moderate because the Blue Line was down for maintenance and this put a sort of kink in our plans to get to St. Louis. Prices were the same as those others: $4.50 for a round trip ticket...although every time I use the metro, no one ever checks to see if I validated my ticket or even purchased one.

It was an "experience" to say the least...from a guy yelling randomly to himself and at other passengers to the group of guys in jail house sandals waiting for a bus while talking about their "time adventures"...I wouldn't call this a fun place to catch a train. It wasn't bad but there are no longer many options of food other than a small cafe but they do their best and overall the staff is very helpful and friendly. And as a bonus, you do have Security there at all times I suppose.

We hired a shuttle from a St. Charles bike shop (Bike Stop Cafe) and they transported us here. I love the vibe of Kirkwood itself, and it doesn't hurt that there's an ice cream shop right next to the station. The folks were friendly, the station is clean, the train was timely... all in all, a great experience. Again the downtown STL stop feels more like a rough bus station, so if you can choose between the two, I'd opt for this one.

Delivering a rider at mid-afternoon on the weekend the station was open. Masks required inside. It's a cute, comfortable station. For waiting passengers it's more inviting than Amtrak's St. Louis depot. It's also easy to pick up riders here with 2 or 3 hour free parking close to the building. Kirkwood's adjacent downtown provides interesting browsing before or after a train ride.
