Train-rides offer the ability to stretch my legs. A ride on Amtrak can be an adventure because you don't know whether they will arrive on time. Because of that, strangers become friends or in the least new acquaintances. You sigh - and chat - and wonder when the train will arrive. Yes! Amtrak is usually late, but once inside, you'll appreciate why you decide to take the train. The seats are comfortable and clean. There is a lounge but sometimes they offer complimentary snacks and water. These trains also have a toilet for your convenience. First time traveling a farther distance on Amtrak and I am super impressed with their organization. This site the customer service was amazing and I got all my silly traveler questions answered. Bathrooms could use some attention but other than that it's a nice hub. read more

My issue is all your workers should follow the same policy because I've traveled this route with my cat MULTIPLE times and this was the first time I was told that my cat wasn't allowed and I couldn't board so now I'm currently still stranded without a way home today. I should've been stopped when I was getting on the bus to Dublin but I wasn't now that I need to go back home I can't. I should've at least been able to ride back home and told to never bring my cat again but this was handled horribly.( Mind you I've been traveling with my cat with Amtrak since 2024 with no issues..sooo idk if this is a new rule.) read more

I don't find it easy to negotiate bends in the road in California, especially in this town, so I guess I don't display much Merced-ease Bends. Merced Transportation Center is where you'll catch the Greyhound buses in Merced. It's known as "The Bus", not really sure why. It used to be a Southern Pacific Railway Station for Greyhound getting to Sacramento, to the Bay Area and Los Angeles. And also you can get to Yosemite from here. It's in the heart of Merced and is small and does a good service for the buses and the trains. Right by the little old Spanish looking house, which is very Cali, so it works perfectly. read more

Been having some issues with a wheel on my car (low pro tires) so when I have to visit the family in Modesto I have found that riding the Amtrak has been a great alternative to driving. With has what it is and twin turbos not being eco friendly hopping on the train for a day trip has been pretty convenient and pleasant. If you get the two decker train the view out with is phenomenal and the food/drink car is full of fun stuff (even adult beverages!) On the train now and have to say it's great to kick up your feet after a long day. My drive home could have been 4 hours, now I'll drive from train depot to home, 10 minutes. The conductor and train depot employees are always great and courteous, if you haven't tried this I really think you should be bold and do it at least once, happy exploring! read more

Had to take the Amtrak to Sacramento for a funeral and it was a pleasurable experience. I needed that and Amtrak provided. Thank you.

I was denied entry with my service animal. I have never had a problem in the past. When I tried to resolve the issue I was yelled at by some service attendant and the conductor. Service attendant claimed to have worked here for 35 years and has never seen an animal on the train. He also made the claim that I have snuck the animal in before. How would one sneak in a cat that is meowing? How do you hide it? tell me. I have always been able to ride the train and bus with my service animal and there has been no problem. Today is the day of my Grandfather's funeral. Thanks to the them I will miss it. read more

Trains are often late and mislabeled. Friend just missed his train because the train at station had "northbound" instead of southbound posted on the sign. There was no announcement of closing doors. The train left with us at the platform just as confused. Tub of lard in the station was rude and not very helpful - taking a personal call. read more

This is a small station that has recently received a remodel, though it's obvious what was replaced and what was not. Seating is ample and the bathrooms are spacious though in need of more regular checks and cleanings. Vending machines available. Smoking area outside which smells like urine. Not very many benches outside while you wait. Entertaining graffiti on the wall opposite the tracks (political activism should not be an endeavor taken on by the illiterate). I was only here for a couple hours total during my stops to and from Yosemite so I'm not a regular here, which would explain the superficial nature of this review. read more

Its honestly the easiest hassle free way to travel. I was able to do same day parking by parking in the gated area. The gentleman at the window was very helpful and polite. I downloaded the Amtrak app which made it much easier to carry my Eticket. All i did was had the conductor scan my phone. No paper! I only took my purse on this one day trip and they gave me no trouble for it. read more

My elderly Mom was seen at this station and was treated rudely and mean by Mark who rushes you away. The sad thing is we've heard about Mark and his laziness, but today was able to experience it for ourselves. Amtrak needs to do a review on Mark. They might miss more business. It is a station. There are seats where you can wait for trains and buses. Merced gets damn hot in the summer and the AC is nice. Basic vending machines and bathrooms. Dunno what else there is to say, but I checked in on a lark and Yelp wants me to review it. read more

Amtrak is reliable form of transportation on sometimes it's a little bit late sometimes it's a little bit early I usually it's because of work on the tracks it's been slightly late it's affordable it's very inexpensive although once you reach your destination it will be difficult to find a taxi without a phone or without the phone book and if you don't have your mobile phone with you then you'll probably be a little bit out of luck Yelp and maybe Uber drivers which are more more expensive in some areas will cater to you and give you a direct information on the application of lift and what is it the application of Uber drivers I'm not sure about her Uber drivers I haven't taken a Uber driver except once as a gas to end it has been usually more expensive than they would usually work out of the northern California Bay area there are plugins on the train you don't have distractions where you're going to drive regarding high blood pressure and all that difficulty that are heart with driving and road hazard conditions course that are been unruly passenger sometimes on Amtrak that have been had to have been removed from the train and it's not a pleasant sight and it's irritating and give Amtrak at least they're pretty inexpensive you can go about a hundred miles for about $24 it depends and it depends on how overloaded the train is or how underloaded the train is and whether its peak traveling times for conditions on the tracks need to be worked on it's sort of a rough ride and you get sailor legs basically rocking from side to side the food on the Amtrak is rather expensive so I probably wouldn't recommend eating on the train except you got to eat somewhere if you go off the train and you try to come back you'll miss your train so you'll really be in a lot of trouble read more

Mark, the worker scheduled today decided to tell my husband, 9 month old and I, at 10:04 after waiting in line for a few minutes, that their baggage cutoff is 30 min before train departure. Our train departure is at 10:31. He claimed that he arrived into the building at 10:02 from dropping off all the luggage which means that he would not have been in the building even if we had arrived before 10:01. One of the things that contributed to our late arrival was that their door on the north end of the building was locked, so we had to walk all the way around to the other door which doesn't seem like it should take long, but when two people have to carry a suitcase, pack n play, diaper bag, and a car seat, it tends to take a little longer than expected! Had to catch a train here to come up to the bay area. The station was dirty, in the restroom the paper towel dispenser was empty at 10am in the morning, the soap dispenser was empty and one of the hand dryers was broke. Staff was not friendly and really hope I don't have to catch a train from Merced ever again. read more

The manager was incredibly rude! And he lost my checked luggage, which I'm 100% sure was on purpose because he was in a bad mood. Everytime I walked up to the counter he was on his cell phone, and was annoyed at me for disturbing him like he wasn't at work. I saw the prices online this morning but did not have time to buy online. So I just ran into the Merced station as directed by the train director to get a ticket. The female attendant at the station was supposedly in the back dealing with something..the train director came into the station and told me it's ok to wait for her and he won't leave, as he was also looking for something in the station. She came upfront a shorter woman dark hair white or Mexican probably. Big attitude. I told her my destination was Hayward but did not wanna transfer from Martinez rather transfer from Stockton she had already started the Hayward ticket with my name I asked her to do San Jose she kinda threw a fit about having to switch over like it would be soooooo hard and just came at me like if I was being soooo difficult and she asked ok: Hayward or San Jose? Telling me I already said Hayward and telling me about what I said likeif I didn't know what I said. I again said: San Jose. She continues by telling me the train is not gonna wait and they're gonna leave me. like can you just do your job please without the big attitude and sas and arguing!? Wtf. The train man was in the station with us behind the desk searching for something & he already assured me he's not leaving me when she was in the back doing whatever gave her a big attitude that she rudely took out on me . And took 60$ from me didn't give me my change for my 47$ ticket. Apparently mind boggled. I didn't even care to argue with her anymore. I told the train man & he said she says she did give me my change so who's to know now. she threw my 60 in the register so fast ... I wasn't rude whatso ever talking to her.
