From that to dancing in an apartment on Broadway with my daughters. Moments later I was kissing this sexy woman in a stairwell. Before we knew it we were standing in the middle of Franklin & Broadway with people honking and cars driving by. And that was only the first 2 hours of the day. This is a wedding day with Craig Merrill as your photographer. And you will enjoy every minute of it. 2500 pictures taken, 400 keepers, and about 200 first class top-notch quality shots. And you get all of them on CD's. Craig likes B&W, Reservoir Dogs, and spontaneity. Only 4 stars because one of the 14 CD's was blank and I still haven't received it. When I get it, he goes to 5 stars - instantly.

She was so easy to talk to right off the bat. We discussed location options, outfits and she made it very clear that she wanted it to be our vision-I was happy that she took the time to get to know us. The day of our shoot arrived and Shannon met us at our house. We instantly connected and my husband and I felt very comfortable with her right away. We had a great time doing the shoot and it was fast and simple, with no stress. A few days following the shoot, Shannon came over again and we went though all the photos together. They were so beautiful and it was a fun experience. I was instantly in love with all of the pictures. Shannon showed us her many photo options, and helped us pick out a canvas collage for our living room. She took her time with us to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted! Michele has done amazing photography for some of my friends, so when my boyfriend and I decided we wanted some 'grown-up' photos of ourselves.. you know, photos absent of beer bottles and random people in the background... we knew we had to ask Michele! Maybe this is just me... but having someone take photos of you is super awkward, even if they are a close friend, but Michele was able to put us at ease and had us laughing from the start. She was even able to wrangle our small dog into posing for the camera! By the end of the day we felt completely comfortable, and it really came across in our photos. Michele clearly has an amazing talent and can make any spot in the city look whimsical and completely unique. While Crissy Field might be one of the most cliche photo spots in the city, it has a lot of meaning to my boyfriend and me and we knew we wanted some of our photos done there. Michele did a great job of capturing the essence of Crissy field (beachy, casual, relaxing) while making it feel like we were in our own world. She also found some photo spots less than a block from our front door that we had never noticed before! What set Catherine apart from every other vendor we worked with was that she didn't just reply to the questions in an email--she called and had an hour-long conversation with me about our wedding, what we were looking for in a photographer, and just learned more about ourselves personally. I immediately felt like she was more of a friend than a vendor. Not only were she and her fantastic assistant, Kyla, very quick to respond and communicative, but they went above and beyond. They helped provide recommendations for other vendors and even offered advice on how I should do my hair when I expressed I was torn between a few options. I also appreciated her honesty with the area and how pictures would turn out. We floated the idea driving to some other locations along the lake, but she noted that the light would be too harsh at that time and the location would take us away from our wedding for too long. She knows that area like the back of her hand, and made sure we got the best results. Fast-forward to the wedding day, and our experience with her was nothing short of amazing. Not only did she make us feel comfortable doing a lot of different poses, but she knew exactly what to do and how to arrange the furniture and lighting--and did it quickly. Several of our wedding guests were also singing her praises and have inquired about her doing their own family portraits. I remember each minute of my wedding day and after reminiscing, I honestly don't remember seeing him. But, the pictures don't lie! He has every angle of each moment. What's crazy is that he has a shot behind me, and the next minute he's in front of me. What's crazier is that I don't even remember him taking those shots. Besides being invisible, he has a keen eye for artistic shots. One quality of great photographers is that they forgo the flash function and use natural light. In his 15-20 years of service, he must have mastered that craft along with physics (the one dealing with light). I'd say natural light shots make the photos realistic. Adding frosting to the cake, Sherman says he barely do any post-processing work. A photographer who can pull off those shots without too much photoshopping deserves a 3-star michelin award (the highest a restaurant can receive). In summary, hire Sherman if you want: 1) Top quality work (natural light shots). 2) A ninja who blends in with the crowd when taking shots. 3) A funny and nice guy. 4) Memories of a lifetime.

I had a big wedding and in retrospect wish we had hired two photographers, but Sherman is great, great, great at shooting people and that's what he focused on for us. I think my favorite shot was a portrait he took of me getting my red lipstick put on. We had a soulful connection moment and the shot is full of feeling. He also got a specail shot of me coming in the door with my dads. We had rain on our wedding day and the light was difficult, but Sherman had great strategies for dealing with both. He pulled us outside and got some great "fairytale" shots of my new husband and I in the garden. Thanks Sherman. We'll have to call you when we have a baby for another photo shoot!

I own an art gallery, so I'm very picky about aesthetics and I couldn't be happier with her work. She was also great at helping get everyone together for the portraits for the groups in the wedding party and worked really well with everybody making them comfortable. She even managed to get pictures of my six-year-old niece after she was finished having a meltdown! And that little kid is grinning ear-to-ear despite being absolutely certain she didn't want to have her photograph taken! I hundred percent recommend her. She also took some shots at my dad's wedding recently. She went as a guest and ended up respectfully outdoing the commissioned photographer. The photographer didn't seem to care to be involved much and the bridal party was getting upset about it, including myself. Janine stepped up and got some amazing shots, and even managed to help the bride avert an anxiety attack by having her take deep breaths and pose for a few shots to get her mind off of the stress of the day.
