Sandy is truly one of the most skilled newborn/family photographers in the bay area! I was lucky to find Sandy 4 years ago with my first born and the newborn photos ended up being incredible! It was an easy decision to go back to her with our second baby. Here are some of the ways that Sandy truly stood out: - Both our babies were born around Christmas holiday and scheduling was not an issue at all for Sandy. She checked in ahead of the appointment to ensure we didn't need to reschedule (much needed for parents that just gave birth recently) and had our themes ready prior to us arriving. - The themes were 10/10, better than what we could've envisioned ourselves. And our themes were generic such as lemon or Christmas. - The amount of patience Sandy has is seriously amazing! Where do I start. I bought the package with pregnancy photo shoot plus the newborn ones. From the get-go, I could tell that Sandy was incredibly patient. When we scheduled the pregnancy shoot, it was a cold day and she was able to get incredibly beautiful photos. We did an outdoor shoot at the Japanese gardens and there were so many poses and just so many great photos. And what I loved the most about Sandy was her calm demeanor. She made you feel very comfortable and was pretty much up for anything. So now fast forward 12 weeks post delivery, and we went in today to take pics of my twin girls. It's one thing to shoot one baby, however, two little ones is something else. When one is fussy, the other one is calm. And so that was the game today. I have to say that Sandy was incredibly gracious, patient, nice, and I can't believe how many poses she was able to get of my girls. It was such an incredible experience, that I am so so happy, and the photos already look incredible. The props were great, the colors were amazing, and my little ones just look so good. Long overdue review for Clairebear Photography Studio! Last year prior to the birth of my son I booked Clairebear Photography for a newborn photoshoot. Sandy provided an abundance of tips to ensure that the newborn photo session went smoothly. Our little one was only 2 weeks old at the time of the shoot, originally I was hesitant at having him go somewhere at such a young age but Sandy ensured that her studio was nice and toasty, clean, and welcoming for our little baby. As usual, I would do hours and days of research and going back and forth on multiple sites/getting recommendations/social media/bugging the vendors before making a decision on where I'd spend money on something that is super important (your newborns photos!) And I'm so glad that I found Sandy from Clairebear Photography studio. Here's my breakdown of her services: - Responsiveness: super fast when I initially reached out before I gave birth. I didn't end up booking right then but after I gave birth, I reached back out to her and she responded within 2 hours. When the email system didn't work out, she ended up calling me and we coordinated this way. After the initial coordination, she followed up to make sure that we had everything set up and she also fit us in a last minute cancellation spot which was so great! - Care: she has 3 girls and have been doing this niche newborn photography for a long time. She took care of our little boy so well and he took to her without fussing. She was patient and had such a soothing voice and it allowed her to handle him for all the different poses - Newborn equipment: she has a fridge for you to store milk, a Phillips Advent bottle heater, a changing table and even ice cream for the parents. She also understood when we were about 10 mins late bc we had to feed him and change him before we came in - Cleanliness/COVID protocol: Sandy had a mask on the entire time and was very cognizant with her gloves/sanitizing between each shoot everytime she handled our baby. I was glad that she took such extra care to make sure he was safe - Props: wow! What can I say about this? Sandy was SUPER efficient. She asked me if there were a few images I liked from her IG and when I arrived, she had literally everything prepared. She had dozens and dozens of different variations of props and was SO EFFICIENT! I absolutely loved going from pose to pose and just trying to get the one shot to make it look best!!! We picked a Harry Potter theme, a milk and cookies theme, Chinese New Year, tiger, basketball, and tons of family photos. She even encouraged me to do a mommy/me shot that I didn't initially know I wanted but now I LOVE! The price isn't cheap (and it shouldn't be for her craft and care) but I'm SO SO happy we went with Sandy. The good: I got a preview of one of my photos the day after the session! I liked that prices were listed on the website and how you could book your appointment online. It was straight forward and easy to use the website. Other photographers' websites were a lot more confusing to navigate. Some will also advertise the cost of a session without photographs/digital prints. I thought that didn't make sense since you hire baby photographers to get photos, not for the baby modeling experience. I was able to book a photo session for my 29 day-old baby (some newborn photographers will only take younger babies). I had a session with Sandy in her home studio. There were tons of props, headbands, stuffed animals, wraps/blankets/cloths, and photographable baby things to choose from. She led the session and chose the backgrounds and props with the exception of some headbands that I chose. If you have specific ideas in mind you can lead the session in that direction as well. Sandy has kids of her own so she knows how to handle babies. The bad: My session comes with 8 unique photos but I cut it a little short because I felt bad for my overtired baby. I took my mom with me and my mom thought it was scrutinizing to not let the baby sleep when she was sleepy rather than keep changing the baby's position and outfits. It was my fault for not bringing more milk. I brought 4 ounces but my baby consumed it and wasn't satiated as she normally is with that quantity. I ended up having to breastfeed there and Sandy was good about being patient and assisting. I didn't like that it cost a lot extra per photo that needed editing. A lot of the photos I had the option of choosing needed edits (like you could see other backdrops in the background, or you could see the clamp on the fabric that kept it taut). The interesting: You can book family photo sessions or smash cake photographs as well! I got my baby photos done past the recommended 5-14 days-day mark so that limited the types of poses that we could do. For instance, photos where the baby is on their stomach with their head up obviously are for more developmentally mature babies with strong necks. Certain wraps are also better for smaller babies. If you want to purchase more than the 8 photos that are included in the package it costs $10/apiece or $150 for all the original JPEG photos. My sister used Clairebear Photography with her newborn. After seeing her photos, I knew I loved her artistic style, composition, lighting and photo editing. You can take a look at their portfolio through Instagram (IG). They offer professional service, is kind, friendly, and is great at handling newborns. I reached out to them through IG and our photographer, Sandy replied. I spoke with her briefly on the phone answering simple questions regarding my newborn, and brainstormed ideas. On the day of our shoot we were worried because our newborn did not sleep for the first 2 hours of the session. Sandy had patience working with him, and was able to capture a lot of great moments. As he fell asleep towards the end, my wife even had a specific pose she wanted to do, and Sandy was able to make it happen. Turnaround time was just a few weeks. We had a few subtle editing requests Sandy was able to do. Skin retouching and lighting were perfect. The photos we received were clear and high quality. She offers pricing through her website. Keep in mind you're also able to pick individual photos to be edited if you'd like more than the packages she offers (pricing varies), and you can purchase all your photos unedited in JPEG format if you choose (highly recommended). We loved our experience with Clairebear Studio and are so happy we found them! We researched many newborn photographers online and found Clairebear Studio to be the most unique. Sandy, the photographer, was amazing. She was so patient and experienced. Our newborn was less than 2 weeks old and fussed quite a bit during the photoshoot. I searched through a list of Bay Area photographers before I came upon Clairebear Photography. Jessica helped set me up with my photographer Sandy, to take pictures of my 7 month old daughter. After reviewing the beautiful pictures on Yelp, I knew I wanted to book them. I had an appointment with Sandy on Tuesday 12-6-16. She was very warm and welcoming. She has 2 young children, so she knows how to deal with cranky/grumpy babies who don't feel like taking pictures! Her studio had super cute props and costumes/headbands if you have a baby girl. My sister came with me to the shoot and we really clicked with Sandy. She was very sweet and accommodating to my baby girl. My friend asked me randomly one day if I was going to have a photo shoot for my baby's 100 day. I told her no but decided to look around yelp just for fun. When I saw the pictures from Clairebear studio, I instantly changed my mind. The pictures of the babies are so adorable and precious and I wanted them for my own daughter. So I contacted Clairebear and they responded right away. They patiently answered all of my questions and I set up an appointment that same day. We decided to go with Portrait C so we got to work with Jessica. She is so sweet and patient. It takes a lot of energy to catch a 3 month old's attention when they are in an unfamiliar place and just want to look around everywhere. But with Jessica's directions, we were able to capture a lot of cute shots. She is always gentle when holding our baby or moving our baby's hands away from her mouth and told us where to stay to better help support our baby. When our baby was tired, she helped our baby go to sleep quickly by creating the perfect baby sleep environment. A quick nap later and our baby was happy and energetic again for more pictures. We had a great time working with Jessica. I was really impressed by the amount of props and costumes that was available. It will be difficult to find a selection like Clairebear's anywhere else. Where do I even start ??? Well let's start with I was rushing to do photos before we leave out the country! She accommodated my day not my selected time though. We arrive early she didn't mind!
