This place was a surprisingly interesting find just off the side of the road in Burnet. A volunteer from the local historical society was welcoming and pointed us to a number of interesting objects that we might have overlooked, including a spinning wheel with a very interesting history. The outdoor exhibits are mostly cabins from the frontier era that have been generally outfitted as they might have been back in those times. They're all fascinating to look at and lovingly detailed. There's also a lot of farm equipment that's just kind of parked there; perhaps an exhibit on the evolution of farming would be useful to add? The indoor exhibits are almost overwhelming in the sheer variety of objects, but there's a good amount of explanatory detail (though some of it is a bit... dated). By the time you leave, you'll have a pretty solid appreciation for the local history of Burnet and a bit more for Texas as a whole.

There are multiple ones scattered on the property and there are some workshops that we were lucky enough to go inside and explore with the artist. He told us about his work and showed us some works in progress. This large lot can be a bit challenging as it's outside in the brush but there's some strange and cool stuff here. Some of it is for sale but most is for the gallery. I had a fun time and there's lots to take pictures and videos of. Parking is a bit odd. We had to park in the driveway on the side of the road but it's not impossible.

The building displays open rafters to see the historic nature giving you a sence of its long history. The open feeling of this gallery and the diverse art that is displayed and for sale was pleasing to the eye. I was told all the artists are local to Llano the town and the county. I especially loved the mixed medium art. Definitly something to experince while in the hill country of Llano.

The shop is filled with Texas- and Lampasas-themed gifts and has a terrific collection of historical books for sale, many of which were written by local authors. It's located just down the street from Campbell Park and the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden and Cooper Spring Nature Park is not much further. Free of charge! Donations accepted.
