FL, and have no local contacts, we found Tori thru the internet having searched for an honest individual w/ a good reputation who would do both the estate sale and cleanout. Tori was the person we hired after a meeting via Zoom. We also met her IRL when we went to FL prior to the actual sale. Tori was equipped to not only do the sale, she also would dispose of the post-sale remaining items via consignment, donation, auction and landfill as appropriate. Tori's marketing, actual 2-day sale and final dispostioning were done without any issues at all. Following the estate sale we received a lengthy receipt which accounted for everything. And, copies of receipts for donations are on the way to us too. Items on consignment will be sold over a period of time. Tori's fee is in line with other companies doing this work. I can't say enough about the professionalism and ease of communication with Tori who owns Cubed Consign & Cleanout. She and her team did a wonderful job. And - for those of us who live far away and maybe have strong emotional attachments to things to be sold - I don't think you can find a better way to handle this process. By 1979 there were seven dealers on the 3700 block of Dixie Highway. Antique Row received a boost from a 1990's Architectural Digest article declaring it the best place in West Palm Beach to find treasures from 1920s Art Deco to mid-century modern. By 2003, Antique Row was drawing comparisons to the Rue de Beaune in Paris and New King's Road in London. Today trendy restaurants have joined the antique stores and there is a popular annual street fair. Patricia's Gallery is owned by the Countess Patricia Pingree-Clouet, a French curator, designer, and collector who hand picks antiques to mid century items from private collections, estates, and homes all over the world. Patricia worked for five years in Paris for the fashion house Coco Chanel under Karl Lagerfeld. Some of the items in the store Patricia designs herself. Prices are more than I can afford but I had fun looking. While I was browsing the gentleman working gave a very interesting lecture on Victorian era spoon warmer cups. They were filled with hot water so you could dip your spoon in and heat it before eating your soup during a time when the kitchen was often far from the dining room. One of the stores clients collects them and has repurposed them as individual flower vases at each place setting. I had never heard of them before so it was interesting to learn about them. I wish I could have stuck around for more stories. Perhaps another time.

The price at that point was $3400, and my portion of that was $340 - which is all I get paid for this sale. Because of the holiday, it took until Tuesday for my clients' payment to clear. At that point, I made an offer and inadvertently put in the retail price instead of the trade price. As soon as I sent it, I realized the error and messaged her, letting her know what had happened and asking her not to process it. I also tried to contact Chairish for help but their customer service is pretty much non-existent at this point. You cannot get ahold of them for days at a time. Nonetheless, the payment went through. I then messaged Patricia to ask her to please refund me the $340. She has declined to do so, saying that it is 'out of her hands' - which is patently ridiculous, since she can certainly mail me a check. I will not be buying from her again, and I am going to continue to pursue this matter.

Having had such a wonderful encounter with Heath and Co. (also in Antique Row) I wanted to see what else I could discover along the "Row". Well, much to my pleasure I found Re Vue Antiques. The owner whose name is Sonny was a charming and very likeable gentleman. He has a very lovely and well-appointed store. He has a very large variety of furnishings and brick-a-brack, as well as an amazing selection of lucite items. I was hoping to chip away at my Christmas list and was happily satisfied. Sonny was very kind in that I told him I was looking for a couple of small, but nice gifts for family. He steered me to a fabulous display of small crystal pieces. (It was an impressive variety to be sure, with all kinds and names to choose from.) I wound up purchasing a couple of small Lalique pieces, at a VERY reasonable price. (Happily for me, prices had flexibility!) My opinion of Re Vue is that for a great selection (as well as selections to satisfy any budget), it's a must visit. I literally spent a good hour just trying to see everything he has to sell. I will definitely return and I would recommend to anyone that a better day could not be spent strolling around, this treasure trove.
