We get makeovers 1-3 times a year from Nordstrom, Sephora and MAC....... But we've never been taught how to implement the techniques the artist as using. They might tell us what to do but it's in one ear, out the other. Ana's approach is a multi learning process. She tells you what to do and why, teaches you how to do it on someone, then she involves you in the process by having you try this technique for yourself. She's there to give guidance and feedback along the way. Classes are small and cozy (4 people). Ana has a warm, sweet personality and it was lovely to spend time with her. I did the basic Make-up 101 class and knew close to nothing about makeup. I left that class feeling very confident and very excited to play with all of my makeup. She sells a lot of the products she teaches with which make it's even easier to do the same style at home. Prices are extremely reasonable. The class was informative, exciting, interesting and a lot of fun! The room is adorable, fits up to 14 people, I believe, and feels like you're hanging out at your friend's place. These classes would be perfect for a bachelorette party, birthday party or just a girls night out. SO doing this!! Ana is very professional, fun, warm, friendly and patient. She calmly explained everything we were doing and why. She answered questions thoroughly and when she didn't know the answer, she recommended where we could find the answer. She teaches you in a very quick and simple way. She really wants you to learn and is an extremely good teacher. Simple and effective techniques that make a huge difference! My friend and I bought a Groupon for her class. We reserved our spot and went to the class. The course was quite fun and interesting, but it was quite cramped with close to 10 ladies in the room. I find that it would be much easier if Ana can show us her technique if she had a model to show the styles. Overall, I learned a few new things. I had to subtract 1 star because Ana promised to provide us the powerpoint/pdf that she typed out to all students. A week gone by and we haven't seen an email. Then another week. My friend emailed Ana requesting the pdf. Another week gone by with no response. I proceed with emailing Ana about the pdf. Again, no response. By then we decided it is a lost cause. read more

My friend got us groupons and took me to Ana V's makeup class because I've always been pretty lazy about makeup (lived with a makeup artist for 3 years, so I just got my pro stuff done in-house!) The class was small, just 6 girls, which was great because Ana had time to address everyone's different needs (day/evening look, Asian features versus Caucasian features, on-camera, etc). I never buy product from anyone directly because I feel like they've pressure-sold me into it, it's not usually any more effective than what I'm using, plus it's usually expensive. All three of these rules went out the window. The stuff Ana used was phenomenal; I bought the foundation, a brightening pencil (didn't even know what that was until that day!) and a fantastic makeup sponge that blew my mind. My friend is equally skeptical, has crazy sensitive skin and avoids unfamiliar product because she reacts pretty badly to almost everything, and she loved the foundation too. Learned a lot in just that one class, and where many makeup artists are intimidating, Ana was professional, helpful and approachable. If you ever want to take a makeup class, this is who you want to take it from. Can't believe I'm the first to review! I do not have enough awesome words for Ana, her makeup classes or her products! I have attended Ana's Makeup 101 class twice (with my best friend the first time, and with my mom the second time). First, Ana has a very friendly, approachable style that does not make you feel insecure about your make-up technique (or lack thereof) or knowledge. She listens to your needs, and since the classes are small, there is enough time to address problem areas or what you are most interested in learning - both individually and as a group. Aside from learning awesome techniques that will transform the way you do your day-to-day routine as well as your special event makeup, you learn about amazing products and tools, as well as good facial care. I have received a lot of compliments lately that my makeup looks very natural, and that is what you learn with Ana - how to enhance your natural beauty. Ana has a ton of professional experience, and she not only knows her stuff, she can effectively transfer that knowledge to her students as well. She is a wonderful teacher and knows how to cater to your needs. I bought the brushes and the BB cream we used in class, and I have since come back for more since I cannot live without the products. I used to go to Sephora all the time, but you can get amazing deals and products through Ana, so I recommend giving her a call or sending her an e-mail to book a class and grab some beauty products. They're super worth it! Ana answers very fast, is always available, and is super nice! She is very warm and fun, so you are guaranteed to have a great time with her and learn loads :) Attending the class a second time (after about 6 months) was great, since I had had time to practice my techniques and I learned even more the second time. Make sure you practice what you learn right after the class, and read the materials she sends you (she sends a recap of what you learned in class - an awesome idea, since we are all prone to forgetting!). I just finished the Glam Masterclass at Ana V Beauty. I wanted to learn how to look glamorous and beautiful at all times especially when I'm speaking on stages or on video. This class was truly amazing as it taught me step by step how to apply make up like the professional make up artists. The class was jam packed of information that we applied right there and then. The instructors were there to make sure we were doing it right and gave us pointers on how to do it better. Because of this class I now feel confident in my abilities to leave the home looking absolutely my best. I've been to two of Ana's classes. Both classes I got it from social shopper The first one was the smokey eye one. Not bad of a class. It was relatively small. There was only 4 of us in the room not including Ana. She helped out a lot. At the end of the class she gave us deals on purchasing her products which is always a bonus. Both my friend and I purchased a few items. Still using them meaning they are lasting us lol. The second class was the professional look one. That one was interesting where we got to transform our day look to afternoon to evening. I would recommend this class to people cause you look a lot of skills to apply make up on your face. You learn about the contraction of your skin and colour to apply on. She also does make up for people and hair dos for proms, weddings and etc. She does a good job for a person her age. Has a lot of inspiration and is willing to take it to the limit. read more

She had the audacity to make the excuse that I didn't "confirm" the appointment which makes no sense as I had already spoken to her over the phone and sent a text reminding her of the appointment. I have taken several classes with AnaV and each one was better than the last. She teaches a lot of really good techniques and it's a lot to take in so I recommend taking notes. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable and friendly. She has her own make up, which is phenomenal but she certainly doesn't push it on you. In fact, she recommends that you bring your own make up and she shows you how to use what you have. But I do recommend her make up. Not only is it really good quality, but the prices are amazing. Took a makeup class here last week which completely transformed my understanding and confidence with makeup. Ana is super patient and an excellent facilitator. The girl knows her stuff. even though there were 4 other students in the class, she was able to give personalized advice for all of our different skin tones and needs. Four others and myself took a two-hour evening class on make-up 101, Ana generously extended the time to over three hours, this past Monday to learn basic fundamentals of foundation, concealer, highlighter, eyes shadow, eye lashes, lipstick etc. Ana taught different methods to apply foundation, how to accent facial structure, which colours suit your particular face and so forth. We all came out of there looking much better than how we went in, but not in an over done fashion, more natural - although she does give tips on dramatic styles, too. Ana herself is friendly, warm and sociable, as well as patient, and obviously knows her subject. She also sells products, but doesn't push them, designed by herself. On top of it all, she says that 25% of her proceeds go towards helping animals as their welfare if important to her. I would highly recommend Ana and will try to attend her other classes. read more

What a fabulous experience; Ana was a joy to learn from. She was patient and taught both the technical and hands-on aspects of basic make-up application in the Makeup 101 course I took with her. She tailored the techniques and styles to my face type and 'looks' I was interested in and even showed me how to apply make up for my acting job/auditions (in addition to day/night time looks). My friend and I decided we needed to take a make up class because we are both pretty clueless about the art of make up application. Ana was very hands on and a great teacher which made it a lot of fun for us! Another great thing was that, even though the classes were small ( she said her max was usually 4 people per class), she didn't try to 'one -size fits all' us. She looked at us all and gave us tips on what would work well with our skin tones, facial features ( and thankfully for me), learning styles. She was very informative about the different products out there and why we would use a particular one. Ana didn't even try to sell us anything but at the end we were so pleased at the new skills we picked up and products we used, We ended up buying a couple of the great products she uses (she even personalized little kits for both of us at very reasonable prices!!) Ana is simply the best! I first met her when my friend and I booked a make up session with her. Both of us look very different from each other and Ana taught us how to apply make up so that it suits our different eyes and face shapes, as well as our personalities and ways of life. We had so much fun during the session, and what we learnt was so useful, that I returned with five other friends (plus a 2 months baby) for a second session. Again, Ana was amazing. We all talked at the same time and the baby cried quite a bit (she hasn't discovered the beauty of make up yet) , but Ana was very patient and she managed to teach us a lot and make us have an amazing time together. Every time I am with Ana, I am impressed by the quality of her work and the passion that she has for what she does. Ana is absolutely awesome and talented, her classes are super helpful and so much fun, and the makeup she sells is great too! I took my bridesmaids and mom here for a class so we could learn to do our own makeup on my wedding day. We brought some wine and appies and made an evening of it, and we had an absolute blast! None of us were very good at doing our own makeup, so Ana taught us some great day-to-day makeup tips, and then showed us how to glam it up for a big event. I have seen all these girls do their makeup for nights out since, and it is SO much better. Since then, Ana generously invited me back for a refresher to make sure I would be ready for the big day. I now feel confident enough to do my own makeup for my wedding, and I learned some great stuff to look nice on a daily basis. I bought the Advanced Makeup 101 class from Groupon. I know Ana does her own makeup line, so I was a little worried it might be an extended sales pitch! But it absolutely was not, Ana was sweet and very helpful and informative. I really enjoyed the class, it was nearly 3 hours! Great value I think.
