However, I can't tell you how disappointed I was with my two pizzas. I have been wanting to try pizza from Oak Bowl & Mario's Pizza for the past few months and ordered it today. However, I ate slightly under one slice from each of these limp noodled pizzas and the rest went straight into the trash. It's hard to explain how I felt after trying the pizza. It's not really good, it's not really bad, it's not really flavorful and it doesn't even feel like I'm actually eating a pizza? The crust is missing that firmness, the bubbles, the crunch, the flavor and the ability to even support itself when grabbing a slice one handed out of the box. My only advice would be to reexamine your entire pizza making process. I would prioritize researching a school, or individual trained in the art of making pizza dough and sending an owner or trusted employee to go learn the process and bring that knowledge back to the business and train others. In the end, I wish I would have taken a few photos to add to this review but I didn't think it would be fair to this business digging slices out of the trash just for a review photo.

The og Bier ON the Pier festival was seriously one of my favorite PNW beer events for over a…read moredecade. Sadly, last year the Port of Anacortes decided to close down the iconic Transit Shed pier location for this event (and for all events, of which there were many); so the festival was forced to move to the only other available facility in town: the Depot Arts Center. I have to say, it was NOT an improvement. First off, the Depot is broken up into several different rooms. I've been to a few art shows here, and it works for that. But for a beer festival, there just wasn't any energy since the breweries were all cordoned off from each other, and the music was outside in a completely separate tent area. At the original festival (on the pier), the stage was right in the middle of the action - not a separate destination entirely. Speaking of music, this was a highlight as Skagit Valley favorite Mama Dirty Skirt rocked the stage on Friday night. And on Saturday afternoon we chose the early entry option just to see one of our all-time Bellingham favorite musicians, Michael Dayvid, perform. There also seemed like fewer beer and cider options than years past. Several local breweries weren't represented, including favorites like Stemma, Wander, Aslan, and Boundary Bay from Bellingham, and North Sound from Mount Vernon. We missed seeing other PNW brewery kingpins, too. Fremont Brewing was there (thanks Fremont!) but it would have been lovely to see Georgetown, Elysian, Pike, Deschutes or any number of other local legend breweries. This could have been a space issue, though, as the breweries/cideries present were all stuffed into very tiny spaces. The breweries who were present definitely brought the enthusiasm and great brews. Some of my faves were Farmstrong's Oktoberfest vienna lager, Temperate Habits' ESB, and tasty sips from Beach Cat, Anacortes Brewing, Fringe, and Garden Path (to name just a few). The food options were also a bit disappointing compared to previous years. On Friday, we chose the dumpling operation, which was pretty much highway robbery. We paid over $15 for literally the tiniest, saddest little dish of dumplings ever. It was barely enough to be considered an appetizer for one person; definitely not a meal. Needless to say, after that we just walked downtown to the Brown and got a decent meal for not much more! On Saturday, we grabbed a hot dog from one of the on-site vendors and it was quite delish. I feel like the festival organizers did the best with what they could. But, personally, I probably won't return to this festival again unless some major changes are made. It wasn't really worth the time and expense to spend a whole weekend in Anacortes.

The holes are not particularly challenging, but it's fun. Several hazards, including marshy areas and grass clippings where the ball just disappears. The most remarkable thing about the San Juan golf and country club is the customer service. I had left a sweatshirt in the back of a golf cart I called them two days later when I discovered it missing. They sent a email out to their membership and somebody brought it in and they offered to mail home to me. Above and beyond! Thank you very much. Terence Duffy

I need to admit I wasn't expecting much from this festival, but I was pleasantly surprised! First…read moreof all this is a HUGE festival by area standards. Size-wise it probably rivals the big Ski-to-Sea Festival in Fairhaven, and I found the vendors to be much more local and much more varied, which was nice. It sits literally right on the Anacortes waterfront, with breathtaking views over the marina toward snow-capped Mt. Baker. This was a postcard-worthy place to hang out on a sunny June day! There was a heavy emphasis on locally-produced crafts, art, and food and less of the "commercial" type booths which seem to be mounting a takeover at other festivals. There was also a HUGE Corvette show going on right next to the festival, which gave the hubby something to do while I surfed the jewelry and housewares booths. We also enjoyed the beer garden, hosted by local Anacortes Brewery - they had 5 different varieties of beer on tap, plus several wines. Next door was a robotics demonstration put on by local students, which was super fun to watch! While we pretty much attended this festival by happenstance, I would definitely add this to my "first weekend in June" calendar in future years. Note: get there early to sign up for the free boat rides offered by the local yacht club!

There's something nostalgic about Anacortes Cinemas compared to what I'm use to. No assigned seating, concessions in the front with a classic theater vibe. Was the experience flawless? No (lines for prepaid tickets, concessions, and new tickets was the same line - at least when we went which made it feel understaffed) but the experience overall was a good one. We saw Moana 2 and while this isn't a review space for the movie itself, it did help that the movie was good. Well located with some local shopping in walking distance I would definitely recommend stopping by when visiting Anacortes.

We saw the Spring 2019 Mamma Mia Show. It was superbly well done. The music, the actors, the stage.... everything. Mamma Mia was absolutely hysterical too. The producers did such an incredible job making everything come together in such a perfect manner. I was impressed with the talent behind each of the characters.
