This is a nice cinema that is great for a small town like Anacortes. Most Cinemas I typically go to are the larger known ones with assigned seating, food service to your seat and large theater rooms with ample space. There's something nostalgic about Anacortes Cinemas compared to what I'm use to. No assigned seating, concessions in the front with a classic theater vibe. Was the experience flawless? No (lines for prepaid tickets, concessions, and new tickets was the same line - at least when we went which made it feel understaffed) but the experience overall was a good one. We saw Moana 2 and while this isn't a review space for the movie itself, it did help that the movie was good. Well located with some local shopping in walking distance I would definitely recommend stopping by when visiting Anacortes. read more

Went to the Anacortes theater last night, and how things have changed! The bathrooms, the carpets looked very nice. There has definitely been a lot of time and expense spent to make it so much better. CustomerService was excellent. Sadly, we were the only two customers, for the premier showing of the Fall Guy. What is going on?!?! We need to get out and support this small business. Admittedly we haven't been to the movies in years but will make every effort to go more. We we were going to attend The Boys in the Boat today at 12:30. We arrived just after 12 pm and the door was locked. Two girls were inside, but totally ignored us as we stood in 20 degree weather. After knocking one came over and we asked if we could wait inside. She turned and walked away. Very disappointing! Needless to say we left and won't be returning. read more

Served its purpose - wanted to see a movie and saw a movie. Unfortunately the place has seen better days. Bathrooms are disgusting and overall material condition is poor. While the sole employee was very accommodating - the place was under staffed. Tickets could not be printed due to no ink and the front counter was left empty for long periods of time. read more

This place is a joke.... the have a bunch of kids running things during a large movie premier. That mess up the projector, start the movie a half hour late and it is just pathetic. You would think that management would at least have their most reliable crew for a large premier night. Instead you have high school kids. Not to mention the food is over priced and under 5-6-2019 I can't believe I decided to try this place again. This time the movie was supposed to start at 12:15 and they didn't even open up the theater until 12:55...missing two separate show times. This is the worst ran business I have ever seen. Leaving high school kids to be responsible for opening a theater and managing their own schedule is ridiculous. Not to mention the entire theater stink of urine. I can hardly sit in the chairs without itching to know if I'm sitting on the something gross. This will be the last time I ever patron such a horrible ran establishment. I wish someone else would but this place and the owners can go ruin something other town's little theater. read more

Charming little place and a nice alternative to a certain older theater in Oak Harbor (that shall remain nameless) or driving all the way to Burlington.1 ticket line, 2 concession registers, a pair of bathrooms, and 6 or so theaters. The seats are a bit worn and the popcorn has been a little stale all 3 times that I've visited, but that won't keep me away. They offer discounted ticket prices with military ID. This is a perfect smallish town theater. The staff is awesome and they usually have movies you want to see- which is tough, considering they only have 3 screens. I grew up in an area where the 16 screen theater was replaced by the a 32 screen theater, and I would take Anacortes Cinemas over the megaplex in a heartbeat. Three huge bonuses: interesting menu with items like Italian Sodas and caramel corn, a manager who is an artist and often times does amazing, elaborate displays for upcoming films, and there is a back door entrance to The Brown Lantern (one of my favorite restaurants) in their parking lot. And if you're lucky and get there early, you get to see one of the ridiculous low budget commercials for a local radio station. Lots of character here, folks. read more

Pleasant outing even on a Friday night during the holiday season. Able to walk up at showtime, get tickets, get concessions, and stroll in virtually unimpeded. Simple layout for a small town. Friendly folks at the counters. Easy access to restrooms. Wish the movie was better, but for a once-a-year movie couple, would come again. read more

I think this place is pretty sad. I mean. We paid $14 for a really gross pretzel. Soda and some m&ms. The seats recline so far back you're almost laying down. Haha if you're pregnant, forget it. Anacortes Cinema is a small, 3 screen theater that shows first run movies and brings back old favorites from time to time. I like their popcorn, which they pop in-house. I would have given them 5 stars, but their women's rest room could use some deferred maintenance. It's clean, but could use some cosmetic repairs. We're fortunate to have this nice theater in Anacortes. read more

Great place to watch movies, not updated and some of the seats are a little worn but the staff is great.

This is a horrible place to watch a movie. It provides the most compelling examples of what is wrong with the worst movie theaters in America and why you should invest in the equipment to enjoy movies at home with a true cinema experience. Or drive the 20 miles to a professionally-run theater. I had the displeasure of viewing The Avengers at this theater. Many of my issues are with the presentation of this specific movie. The print they have is scratched. No self-respecting theater with moderately high standards would show this print. The scratches are very noticeable green lines that parade from the top of the screen to the bottom at regular intervals. I went out to the lobby to ask if they were aware of them and was informed there is a note by the cash register explaining the scratches and that they go away after the first 20 minutes. Okay....well that is a lie. The scratches certainly get less noticeable, but they are present throughout the movie. They are not the bright neon green throughout the whole movie, but they are there if you look for them, and once you notice them you can't stop seeing them. And they come back bright green and bigger than ever when you get to the last 15 - 20 minutes of the movie. The note at the register apologizes for the "inconvenience" the scratches may cause. These scratches are not a mere inconvenience: they result in a grossly defective product you should be ashamed to sell. An inconvenience would be if some of the seats reclined too far (they do), or if the theater lighting was too bright (it is). OK, enough about the Avengers. The problems at this theater go way beyond the issues specific to their scratched print. The red-illuminated exit sign in the theater is positioned in such a way that it washes the left 10 - 15% of the screen in red light. Not noticeable in some scenes, but bright or light colored scenes get a very noticeable red tinge on the left side of the screen. Generally poor contrast. Black and dark colors are very washed-out. The ceiling lighting that is kept on (dimmed) throughout the showing may contribute to this. Muddy sound. Especially noticeable in an action film like the Avengers. I don't know what causes it (dirty lens? a problem with the screen itself?) but the top 10% of the screen looks smudgy or dirty. Not a problem in dark scenes, but anything with a clear sky in it will look like there are smudges at the top of the screen. read more
