However, the office/visiting experience lacks the professionalism and care you'd think one would receive on a setting of this nature. Some of the staff members are less than attentive and are often aggressive. My experience was not one of helpfulness. I witnessed and experienced clients not being able to receive the treatment and care spoken of in their handbook. Certain members of the staff belittled me and other clients who were simply trying to ask for help from an advocate in order to better understand procedures and rights. The staff refused to allow me to leave the facility although I was in excruciating physical pain (which in general, they do not offer treatment for). They allowed disturbingly, aggressive behavior to not only happen within the facility, but it often escalated. Although certain activities are incorporated as part of their wellness plan, they often forced participation or stated that one would lose their room/bed if refual to participate continued. The staff works in shifts along with a licensed doctor in the daytime hours. However, after the easy evening, there isn't a doctor present to speak or to handle the needs of the clients. This facility offers little to be desired in health and wellness. I, personally, felt my experience left me wondering if the service provided was even helpful (as far as health and wellness is concerned). Upon attempting to contact a client, I was placed on hold for several minutes where I could hear commotion and laughter in the background, then suddenly to call was disconnected. After calling back several times, my call was rerouted continuously through their automated system. These actions left me highly disappointed in their service.

They need to find family, friends or at least find out the medications needed. The staff that answered the phones were very unhelpful, like they don't understand people need loved ones. They obviously restrict fluids and don't follow medical diets, or I would not be writing this. Please be vigilant if you or a loved on ends up here, so that they don't end up worse off. Behavioral health should be a healing environment not worse than a prison. It doesn't take rocket science to see that people need love to heal.

Basically they drugged her for 3 days and she didn't eat or drink while she was there. She struggles with anxiety and panic disorder. She was shaking and listless due to dehydration. This was in May of 2026. When we would ask to speak to someone they would grab anyone walking by that had no clue what was going on. she didnt learn any skills to cope. Don't even get me started on visitation...oh wait, please do get me started. I wore a sweatshirt 2 days in a row, On the third day they made me take it off and I had on a cropped workout tee. They said I could only wear one layer? My husband wore a hat but on the second day they said he couldn't wear it. We brought our daughter a book and they said it couldn't be hard back. That's fine but why weren't caregivers given a list of what the patient should bring and what visitors could/could not bring? When I asked this they said it's in the patient packet. I could never find it plus we needed it- not the patient.

This is coming from a mother whose unfortunately had a daughter with a severe mental disorder. Out of all the mental hospitals here in Ohio; this 1 does not make the top 10. Each time KBMC would release and send my daughter home she was not stabilized and on 3-4 new medications. I'd talk with the case worker explaining my concerns and regardless they'd release her anyhow. Eventually she ended up taking her own life. BEWARE. We had on many occasions to stay at a hotel a couple of days before bringing her home to ensure that she was safe enough to come home due to THESE psychiatrists releasing patients way too soon and when they are not complete stabilized while being placed on to new medications.
