Had an excellent Friday night fish fry last night. The Au Gratin breaded Haddock was fresh, and firm, unlike most of the other fish fries in central WI. Food was served hot and promptly, by a friendly, efficient waitress(Jordan). I have been disappointed by most fish fries in central WI, so it is nice to find a good one. And I don't drink much anymore, but I saw them muddling a brandy old fashioned, so they must make good cocktails. Only negative is the acoustics. very loud, but it was very busy. read more

Very friendly staff and very nice location. My wife and I both had a tap beer and Prime rib french dips. Both beers were flat tasting. Maybe the system was not set right? We just had 1 beer each so not that big of a deal. But our meals came and the sandwich was very small. Hardly any meat in them and dry. High price for not much value. This is a wonderful place to gather with friends for a traditional Wisconsin fish fry. Just an FYI, the place is always busy, so be prepared for a wait....that's not a problem is you plan cocktail time with friends on the patio into your plans. The inside bar area is huge, and they have many local beers to choose from, my favorite is usually an ice cold Spotted Cow. Everyone in our group had the breaded/fried fish with fries, the portions were generous and the orders came out quickly. Everyone was happy with their meal and we will gladly return. The only criticism is that we felt a little rushed so they could turn over the table. read more

Stood around for ten minutes without any acknowledgment from anyone working there. I have no idea whether we were supposed to seat ourselves, wait for a host, nothing. This was one of the absolute WORST experiences I have ever had at an eating establishment! ...based on what was expected. Our waitress, she was very sweet, and on top of what she could be...sorry to her, for the cook. It is unfortunate that she has to deal with a very sorry excuse for a cook...yes, cook, not chef. Dude, you definitely do not know how to cook a steak! The cook is obviously useless, and has ZERO pride in what he puts out!!! This is a major issue! If a restaurant has a cook that doesn't care what he or she puts out, the restaurant is completely f'ing useless! Ordering a $30 steak, you would think you MIGHT get something edible. NOT THE CASE! I ordered it medium rare...it came out rare. Ok, that's fine...I seriously don't have a MAJOR problem with that, but seriously dude, learn your temps! It was supposed to be a filet mignon, but came out tougher than most tenderloins I have had...beyond that, it had a HARD cord running though it, that completely ruined the entire meal! I am fine if you say it is "just a tenderloin", but to sell it as a "CENTER CUT FILET MIGNON", and have a hard to cut through, and tough sinew in the filet, you are actually VERY MUCH, false advertising! Such a disappointment! Oh, wait, also, they put absolutely ZERO salt, pepper, or ANY seasoning on it...something a proper chef would do when cooking this horrible grade of meat...but I understand, a gradeschool cook doesn't understand this...unless he thinks his cut will actually hold up in flavor, to not being seasoned....needless to say, it did not. I asked for GRILLED ONIONS...they gave me very VERY HEAVY carmalized onions, and when I asked about getting actual grilled onions, they told me this is what you get...these onions had sat in the kitchen for at least 3 hours, obviously, looking at the carmalization, the short amount of time it took to get my steak, and what time it actually takes to properly caramelize onions!! Heck, even charred onions would have taken half the time! Again, it is very sad that the cafeteria cook idiot you have working for you, doesn't know the difference between raw, grilled/charred, sweated, sautéed, and caramelized onions. Pretty sad...a gradeschool child could be taught to cook better than this! I mean, come on, onions are one of the most commonly used ingredients in the world! For a cook/chef to NOT know how to cook them, is just embarrassing to the restaurant in general! If I knew this, I definitely WOULD NOT have ordered their stupidly overpriced, improperly cooked, and improperly seasoned, steak! This restaurant needs to have some training for their cooks, and maybe even consider getting a REAL chef into their kitchen, to properly cook the food they are offering! I definitely will be talking to friend's and family about NOT wasting their money, here! Seriously, get a REAL cook/Chef...that knows what he/she is doing, and how to properly cook, because your current one, obviously has zero clue!! I, my friends, and my family, will welcome trying your establishment again, if you get a REAL cook, that knows how to cook a steak, and food in general, properly! read more

Love going here, the service is always great, the food is always prepared well. Love the jumbo shrimp or fish and shrimp dinner on Fridays, if you finish it, you will be full. Sundays during the summer the outside concerts are fun and something to look forward to. A good place to go and relax the atmosphere next To the river is second to none. read more

I have to agree with my better half on this one. Food was tastless and it is really hard to make tastless PIZZA! We ate outside which turned out to be a bad decision as the wind shifted and increased. NOT the fault of the restaurant! Service was ify at best. Our server was over the top accommodating because every time she talked to us it was " no problem" "of course", " yeah sure" or some other phraise, none of which brought our food out any sooner. The wait was excessive for a weekday afternoon with few other patrons. It was quite a drive for as, as we like to try new places, bit it definitely was NOT worth the drive. We won't be back. Waitress was nice. We waited quite awhile for our food. Pizza was just OK. The sauce is what makes it and we've had better. Salmon BLT, bread was grilled only on one side, very greasy tasting. Salmon was okay, had better. Lettuce limp should be crisp. Not much bacon, tomatoe not much. The Presentation is everything. Just looked blah. Sandwich not cut & should have been. Sauce was okay. The side salad very limp Lettuce limp, cherry tomatoes wrinkled, Cucumbers, baby ones better in salads. Again, Presentation was not good! Just not appetizing. Cheese curds were very good, we agreed. Bloody Mary was good but the pickled Mushroom, one of them had black on it. I told the girl, she said oh it's cause it's pickled! I said please replace it and she did. Should have been brought out on a small plate..not in her hand. Lovely view as we sat outside. Menu needs far more food choices. We probably won't be back but at least we tried. Wisconsin on a Friday night means fish fry! Anchor bay is one of the best. In a world of pretty much all the same tasting offerings...just change the name, Anchor Bay stands out. You must try their shrimp! They are like prawns!!! Huge and perfectly done, hot and juicy inside. Sometimes shrimp of this size can get chewy, but not here. I also had the Haddock which was fresh, not mushy or greasy with a light coating of batter. The sides were great, plentiful and rounded out the meal. (Sweet potato fries, coleslaw and the local baked potato). The venue is one one of the nicer settings on the river with plenty of outside seating and music scheduled through the summer. read more

We visited on a Sunday and there was a live band playing. They were packed!! The parking lot was full, it was our first time there, and I couldn't figure out where to park or enter. A very nice gentleman (who later revealed himself as the owner) moved some traffic cones and let us park up front. It was very hot out and my husband is disabled and walks short distances with a cane. He got tired out and needed to take a break so the owner followed him with a chair in case he needed to take another break, which he did. I didn't get his name, but the owner went above & beyond to make our visit very pleasant. The food was great (especially my prime rib french dip), the drinks were great and so were the appetizers. If I didn't live an hour away I'd go there frequently. Everything was great, but kudos to the owner for making our visit pleasurable. read more

New to the area and heard from neighbor that this a good place for food and views. Well they were right on. Came for lunch on a Thursday. Ordered the yacht club sandwich and paid extra $1.50 for the brew battered fries. The sandwich was generously sized on a grilled sourdough bead. I did observe another party near us had the roasted turkey sandwich with turkey gravy over the top of it that looked delicious...that will be for next visit. Walked into the bar to ask how it all works to sit outside. Super nice bartender guy greets me right away and tells me to just wander outside and pick a table. Tried getting the attention of two different servers and they did their level best to ignore us. 12 minutes into our visit and no one has even offered drinks or menus. Got our own. *Yawn*. What is wrong with these people? Back to the bar to ask the nice man to find a manager, a server or both. Two more minutes... and a brand new server arrives. Orders and drinks done! Why tho? They have great food and my dad loves to go eat here while we are racing our four wheelers on the ice in winter. And it is the best place to have a nice cheesey grilled cheese sandwich ever. They have friendly staff and great drinks to choose from as well as Gluten Free Buns. read more

Hosted my daughters wedding shower brunch at Anchor Bay in April. Owners and staff were wonderful to work with throughout the process. They went above and beyond from food selections, decorations, set up, etc.... They have a beautiful setting to host any gathering. I would strongly recommend to anyone planning an event. read more

Did a carryout at Anchor Bay and glad I did! Masks not worn by anybody coming in! Bartenders had to pull down masks to talk to you and wore them only at times to cover their mouth not their nose! Food was good but wont be back! read more

The Wisconsin river is wide here so it feels like your are drinking/ dining next to a lake. Boaters will dock here for a bite to eat or a drink at the bar. The ambiance is great, the waitstaff is really good, The food is good, no one will complain about it but no one will write home about it either, the portion sizes are alright if you get fries, but if you get a salad you may need a soup or desert to feel full, and thats fine too. I will say the view is what really makes this place worth a stop for dinner or a few drinks. Snowmobilers find this place convenient and a great place to warm up in the winter months. The live music they have Sunday afternoons in the summer make this place awesome. read more

We ordered a sampler and two sandwiches. the sandwiches were good and very delicious with fries on the side. The only problem was the sampler which included deep fried mushrooms, stuffed jalapenos, and cheesesticks. the only problem was....they overfried it. We really had to bite hard to get into the actually food inside. For the cost of $9.99 it was definitely a waste of our money. We expected something better from an establishment like Anchor Bay. We went there today 8/23/18, driving for 30 mns eager to try the Lobster Pizza that we had been recommended. I am writing this review while at ANOTHER restaurant, after being IGNORED at Anchor Bay for over 20 mins. We spent 5 minutes at the door, not knowing if we had to wait to be seated, staff passed us twice and nobody acknowledged us. We stepped in the dinning area and saw it was full, so we decided to seat at the center table of the three facing the bar, the other two were occupied. Three times came the waitress to one of the tables, to bring food and to ask twice how it was everything. She came twice to the other table to bring the check and to get payment. NOT even once she bothered to look at us, not.. a hello, not a.. I will be with you in a moment.. nothing! We were 5 feet from the bar, nobody seating at that area, the bartender came out several times to bring drinks to others, she also ignored us. I guess in this place you must have their APPROVAL not to be invisible. We will never come back! read more

The location of the restaurant, right on the Wisconsin River, is absolutely breathtaking. We ate there with the family last night and enjoying ourselves immensely. My daughters boyfriend, who fancies himself a chili, connoisseur, said that the chili they served was the absolute best head ever had at any restaurant anywhere. My bacon cheeseburger had that fantastic grilled flavor which I just love. The sweet potato crinkle cut fries were an extra treat on top of everything else. Lacked flavor. We have been here before and loved their lunch sandwiches. I wanted to try their Saturday night prime rib but we ended up disappointed. The steaks lacked seasoning and the shrimp, although large, had little flavor. The baked potatoes were either burnt or in the warmer all day and inedible. Good salad and a flavorful but pricey bloody Mary. Lots of seating and very quick service. We will give them another chance in the summer as we want to experience the river view and see if the flavor improves. If we return we will stick to the burgers and sandwiches. read more

I've been here before with my kids during the busy weekend and decided to make a visit on a Tuesday evening. We had the dining room to ourselves. The shrimp basket didn't disappoint, the cup of chili was well seasoned and had a homemade quality, and the lava cake was excellent. It is what makes my kids finish their meal.
