On March 19, 2025, I was in a single-vehicle accident on Old Nebraska Highway 275 near Fremont, NE,…read moreduring a gubernatorially declared blizzard emergency, after swerving to avoid a jackknifed semi-truck blocking the roadway. Progressive assigned me 100% fault under Nebraska's Basic Speed Rule and removed my five-year accident-free discount. The Nebraska Sudden Emergency Doctrine was raised in writing on February 9, 2026. Progressive never addressed it in any response over the following year. Adjuster Brent M. Gray dismissed a formal appeal containing 29 documented exhibits, including government weather records and law enforcement documentation, with a two-sentence email that did not engage with a single exhibit. The same letter listed an incorrect mailing address for the Nebraska Department of Insurance. When I escalated to the Nebraska DOI, Progressive's official response claimed no third-party documentation existed to support the roadway obstruction. A KMTV Fremont news report timestamped the same day directly contradicts this, quoting Fremont PD confirming the road was blocked by a semi-truck. If you file a claim with this company, document every communication in writing. Their process does not reward the customer for being right.
