I am writing this review to alert anyone using Briley Contracting/Construction for any work to…read morereconsider their decision based upon my personal experience and a legal action against them based on a fire I had in December, 2023.. I can prove everything claimed in this review. Here's what you can expect after signing a contract with Roy Briley and discussing your project with them outlining what you want. They will agree to everythin; the sky's the limit. Then the game begins. The first thing Briley will do is pressure you to to surrender all the money the insurance company allocates for your job (if it is an insurance job) directly to them. Do NOT do it; keep the funds in a separate account specifically for your project and pay for the work as you go AFTER you confirm the work was actually done and completed according to industry standards in a professional manner. If you don't, you will lose any leverage you have later if something goes wrong. Your money will be gone. Briley's owner and key employees are in on the scam, willingly and actively participating in the crimes they devise to extort money from their customers; I believe this is considered racketeering which, from my understanding of the definition, are coordinated efforts by multiple people in an organization that typically use fraud, extortion, threats, and intimidation to repeatedly earn a commercial profit. They will tell you a date when it will be completed. It won't be. I was told I would be back in my house in 7 months; I have been stuck in a hotel for 19 months now. Work will start (eventually) but then it will stop often for months at a time. They will come and spend a couple of hours and then go to another job. They often go several weeks or months without even entering the premises. This was the case with me; 7 months and nothing inside was completed. The only work attempted was painting, drywall and paneling and it was a disaster, it looked horrendous, and they also punched holes in my walls that did not exist before. I fired them in August. Absolutely no remodeling work was ever completed. I came in after the firing and am completing the job myself. Immediately after I received 3 final invoices that varied by $31,000 between the three of them. He claimed he did 80% of the entire remodel. I asked which invoice was valid. He responded with a fourth one that was higher yet and started demanding payment again. I told him I wanted a breakdown of the charges, but they refused claiming it was proprietary. I told him I would happily and promptly pay them after I understood what I was being charged for. Had I turned over my insurance check they would have laughed all the way to the bank, but they were thwarted because I had leverage, having personally held the money from the insurance company myself, to fight back. To intimidate me further they demanded full payment for mitigation and storage after he was fired and held all of my personal property hostage where I could not access it for months. I consider that theft. Right after that he slapped a significant lien on my home for work he claimed he did. I asked for a breakdown of the charges. They refused and filed a full-blown lawsuit against me asking the court to order that my house be auctioned off so he could be paid. This company did nothing to earn what they were lying about in their perjurious claims to the court. I have/ am still being harassed, intimidated, threatened, frightened and pressured to pay. Now he ratcheting it up even more through unnecessary litigation in which Briley make perjurious claims to the court and do not follow statutory law relative to the process.. The cases are on Courtview. Briley's Mode of Operation is to choose an easy mark, promise them the moon, and get them to sign their contract. Then they blow you off and do what they want when they want. When you've had enough and fire them, they will threaten, badger and intimidate you like they have me, and then slap a lien on your house. If that doesn't work they file a lawsuit asking the court to auction your house off and give them the proceeds destroying your life, family, finances and mental health. Then the lawsuit gets calendared by the court. Briley's plan at that point is to delay the court action until you get so stressed and frustrated that you throw up your hands and cave, or run out of money so you can't pay your attorney anymore allowing Briley to take the property completely destroying their lives. The impact on so many people means nothing to Briley. Other people's nightmares with Briley parallel my experiences almost to the letter. I am a 72-year-old single elderly woman Briley wants to force me out of my home of 27 years and live homeless on the streets of Anchorage as soon as he can. I don't want anyone to have the same experiences I am having and would be interested to hear from anyone having similar experiences with Briley.

The building process was actually pretty…read moresmooth, some things I wish I knew beforehand but the finished product and what we've had to deal with since moving in I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND. Sure we love our house but it is not perfect. The problem is with the people of spinell and the companies they contract out to. QUALITY IS NOT THE NAME OF THE GAME with Spinell. They blame pioneer door for installing a door with a dent in it, we didn't dent it, it was painted over. They won't do anything and they say pioneer won't replace it so too bad for us. The driveway is paved crappy, too bad for us. Carpet is trash. Coming undone, seems are visible, hard spots in random places, floors creak like it's 100 years old. The finishing touches on cabinets paint is missing,every cabinet is damaged with water damage(realtor bought us rubber mats for the kitchen sink cabinet to cover up the water spots but gave us damaged cabinets) the floors are installed with imperfections, the painting was the worst paint job I've ever seen. We've made them come back twice to paint and fix drywall and texture. They cut so many corners and our "11 month" fix it list is still ongoing after two years. I seriously cannot list all the things that bother me. Our house is ours and we got a say in a lot of what we did. Lesson learned on some stuff. Spinell does the bare minimum the. You have to pay for medium good stuff if not the highest. We tell Spinell what is wrong, they have to call K-&W, or whoever, they take months and months to come. The flooring guy fixes one floor panel and he damages another one. Now our flooring boards sit funny. We saw our carpet and flooring boards covered in water during the building process as there was water in the garage. The bathtub was installed with permanent markings . Two light fixtures installed with broken glass. The hot water literally takes 2 minutes to get warm when washing hands. We made them put in two sumppumps because our crawl space flooded after they told us we wouldn't need one. We are in the old gravel pit and are right next to the hill we get co start water flow, they did nothing to the land to irrigate before building. Other neighbors are right against the hill and have no backyard, their yard is eroding and almost has the sidewalk. Our neighbors house had so many cracks, uneven finishes, holes in their carpet, mixed match countertops installed. Ours wasn't any physical much only cosmetic. I could go on and on. The people of Spinell do not stand by their product and I wouldn't recommend them.

What is suppose to happen is when the technician comes to your property to diagnose the issue, they are suppose to upload the info to HSA. HSA will then grant authorization to start the job. Once the job is completed, the plumber is suppose to send the invoice to HSA. Based on the repair, HSA will either pay them or will bill you if it's not covered under warranty. Trey did not upload the diagnosis that was completed 2 weeks ago and had his service tech complete the repair. I called HSA 3 times that day of the repair to ask if I had to pay. They told me that "until he uploads the diagnosis we cannot do anything." So, I asked "then what do I do if they ask for payment once job is completed?" They advised "do NOT pay and explain to them to reach out to HSA." Trey explained to Mark that I had two different work orders 1) for the leak and 2) main shut off valve, saying that HSA will only cover the leak and not the main shut off. That didn't make sense to me because to fix the leak you need to fix the shut off valve. So after the repair was completed, I got on the phone with HSA to confirm AGAIN. Unfortunately, the tech waited with me and eventually left. This was a 4 hour repair. I didn't get to talk to a rep until being on the phone for 1 hour. After I explained my situation, I asked if the diagnosis was uploaded and the rep said "No. We're still waiting for their diagnosis..." That confirms to me that he is trying to double dip or perform fraud. Trey has no integrity. It's sad because I am all for supporting small family local businesses. But Trey is trying to take more money from customers who give up and don't want to handle the guilt. When this was happening, Trey did not call me once. He had his technicians fighting on his behalf. As other reviews have stated, he only communicates through text messaging. I attempted to call him once and he did not pick up or return my call. But texting him, he will respond easily. If you're like me and you have HSA warranty, and they use this plumbing service (because you have no choice), do NOT pay them! What you do is get an HSA rep on the phone on standby when their close to finishing the repair and have HSA tell them that the customer will NOT pay. I saved my family $475. The funny thing is that the next day, the technician (not the owner) called me and said "HSA is covering the costs. So don't worry about the payment." Please be aware and please treat his technicians well. The technicians are hard working and their just following what Trey says. Trey should be handling the issues between customers and HSA but he's having his technicians do it.
