Was looking for a new tax CPA and came across this website…read more The "Contact us" feature does not allow to enter any comments or questions but it has an automated appointment scheduling feature, so I scheduled an appointment for 2pm the day after next and got email and text confirmations and several reminders. I drove 25 miles and showed up 5 minutes before the scheduled time and found the place dark and the door closed. I immediately emailed and texted that I was there. Waited over 10 minutes past the appointment time but no one came so I left. Did not get any email, text or call until later that evening when I got the following weird email: "Thanks for taking the time to meet today! I really enjoyed our conversation and I'm looking forward to working with you. Please let me know if you have any additional questions! Kind regards, Alex Rankin Trailside CPA, LLC" ????? I hope Alex is OK but I cannot trust a CPA who is unable to even manage their scheduling or communication and has no backups if something unexpected happens.

Albeit their "professional" services were adequate, (bear in mind that 95% of all the work…read more(accounting) services were performed by a "junior" associate and the Sr. Partner, Mr. Carland, perused the finished product, the fees charged for services rendered were ASTRONOMICAL - for a pretty straightforward tax return (including some earnings/interest from a brokerage account) - the rates charged were akin to or exceeded New York City rates given COVID conditions - (I'm a former Native New Yorker, executive legal secretary with years of experience having been employed by Tax attorneys) - I'm quite familiar with billiable rates/hours, etc. and relocated here 6 years ago. When I requested that the fee be reduced (due to financial duress and mitigating circumstances - both my husband and myself have expended thousands of dollars in medical bills in the last couple of months) -my hubby had 2 emergency surgeries - 1 week apart) and I have been ill since January and have consulted with specialists and undergone numerous costly CAT scans, et alia, and we both are on Social Security- notwithstanding all of the foregoing, Mr. Carland stated that he would reduce the invoice for services rendered by $50 but added (rather brusquely) that I could no longer utilize their firm!!! I have been using Carland & Andersen for 5 years and was shocked, disgruntled and disgusted by Mr. Carland's unwise decision. Obviously, it's his loss, and his rationale for informing me (didn't even afford me the courtesy of personally telling me this - his "junior" associate relayed the message) - NOT to use his firm in the future flimsily covers up a rather unpleasant covert proclivity (hint hint nudge - given the amount of my investment brokerage account assets, being a "former" Native New Yorker, et alia). People - be forewarned vis-a-vis the outrageous fees charged by this firm. I shall find another professional CPA firm in Hendersonville to service my needs for next year.
