I recently asked for John's advice for selecting and cooking a piece of pork (I'm not really a very good cook) and between him and Allen (another member of the Troup Team) it was prepared and cooked surprisingly well ! It's an old-school village butchers shop with many of the customers shopping there for many, may years. Troup's also sells a selection of vegetables (displayed outside the shop), home-made pies and pates. Easy parking too with the old station car parking area opposite the shop. A really lovely, friendly place in a very nice Royal Deeside village. Five stars !

Inside you are welcomed by a small shop and butcher counter and lots of fresh veg outside. The staff are always friendly (even if you turn up 2 minutes before they close because you have forgotten the bacon for Sunday breakfast!) The shop sells local produce, Kelly of Cults breads and cakes and other veggies, chutneys and produce from the area. The butcher counter sells good meat and the staff will advise you on the best cuts or ways to cook the meat you are buying. This is a lovely local butcher and worth a visit.

It appears to do a thriving trade (there is always a queue) and the meat is excellent. The butchers know their stuff and will advise on cooking times and weights etc. I think they have won the best sausage title but lots of the butchers in Inverness have these claims in there windows so I'm not sure exactly what it means.
