The famously beautiful views from the hills of Ridge across the Watchung Mountains towards the south and west are childhood faves for me and lifelong faves for my father so we are so totally comforted that he shall forever look out to the beloved area. My Brother-In-Law, Carl Maurice Barley was recently eulogized at Judkins. I was extremely…read moredisappointed and aggravated that when his Mother and I called multiple times to request basic information, such as the funeral date that "NO ONE" ever returned the call after assuring us that they would. I personally called and had extended discussion with the Funeral Director only to be mislead about the arrangements. As a result, family and friends who were calling Carl's sister (my wife) and his mother could not participate because we could not verify information in a timely fashion. In addition, Carl's mother sent flowers to the funeral home and discovered at the service that the flowers were never put out with the casket and were in fact located in the basement of the funeral home. The Funeral Director made it very clear that he had no compassion for either Carl's mother or my wife in this process. This was both unprofessional and disrespectful to Carl's family. To add insult to injury, the funeral home "Did NOT" notify us that Carl's body was being buried at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery today so that I, an Army Veteran could be present when the casket was lowered into the grave! Totally unacceptable on all levels. It is obvious that Judkins knows very little about military protocol.
