I have a knee replacement next month. He wanted to ensure that my dental benefits would cover the extractions. Thus, he advised me that given the necessity for the extractions and their cost, he was going to forego the procedures he had planned. Of course, this also meant that he was not making the money he would have earned. That this type of medical professionalism is exceedingly rare is unfortunate. Really, it ought to be pro forma. Yet, we all know how rare it is for anyone to forego payment, for any reason! I was…read morevery hesitant about going back to the dentist because I knew that I'd have to have deep scrapings done on all 4 quadrants and I have a very sensitive gag reflex, so taking those deadly bitewings X-rays are usually a challenge. I expressed my concerns to the folks and they were very accommodating. They patiently worked with me on the X-rays and the scrapings were completed in 2 sessions without the need for Novocain, just a gel that was used to numb the areas. A cavity was of course found which did require novocain, but Dr. Hammes was great with the needle and I was able to easily tolerate the injections. There were several problems with the insurance payments, but they were very patient while those problems were finally worked out. I would highly recommend Dr. Hammes and her staff.

She then proceeded to accidentally hurt me sending a shooting pain through my gum and teeth while working on me. I got out of the chair immediately before she was finished then paid the front desk ladies and left. I did leave with a small hole in my tooth that will be fixed but another dentist. I will never go back to this dentist the way I was treated was not deserved!
