I have a knee replacement next month. He wanted to ensure that my dental benefits would cover the extractions. Thus, he advised me that given the necessity for the extractions and their cost, he was going to forego the procedures he had planned. Of course, this also meant that he was not making the money he would have earned. That this type of medical professionalism is exceedingly rare is unfortunate. Really, it ought to be pro forma. Yet, we all know how rare it is for anyone to forego payment, for any reason!
