We have bought and sold 8 properties almost to 2 million dollars in the past 2-3 years, owned 20 in our life time and this was undoubtedly the WORST realtor experience we've ever had. I'll TRY to keep it short but it was bad every time we had to communicate with her. We have moved out of state. We were to meet Carroll at a Country Restaurant on Highway 74 that was over a 2 hour drive from our home. We arrive, no one there. We get tea, wait 10 minutes, no one. I call her and her response set the tone for how the remainder of our conversations went..... no apology and her first sentence was "My son, Dru was going to go, but maybe he's not going. Let me call him and see." I stated that we were going on to the property. We walk the property, he arrives 5 minutes after. He told us that they know everyone in the small town, can get surveys, everything we need and can help take care of things because we are out of state. He was very likable at that meeting. We make an offer next day for $500 after ask. We hear nothing back from her but documents in email. Upon review of the document, it was full asking price not our offer. We contacted her and she said "There was no reason to contact us that they rejected our offer. We would have noticed it in the paperwork". My husband felt it was sneaky, we've never encountered this before, she said that is common practice. I said not for us and we need more communication every step of the way please. She FINALLY apologized after a lengthy conversation for not communicating. We asked her to please communicate with us every step of the way as we go. We signed and asked her to go ahead and order a survey because Dru said they could do all that since we are out of state. We hear nothing for a week, so I contact her again. She said that she had not ordered it and asked me if I wanted her to order one...... uhhhhh yes! Another week goes by. We have a funeral and construction in our new home to work around and are needing to make a trip up to see the survey stakes, we contact her AGAIN. She said that she would contact us back the next day because it still had not been done. Ends up it still wasn't ordered. When she called back the next day she said that she had ordered it, it would possibly take a week or more, did we need an extension on our due diligence? When I asked if she could touch base with me for the status of what was going on at the end of the week because we are working around a funeral & construction in our home, she said that "There is no way that I can tell you an exact day of when this will be done. This is not a sit at the desk job to survey land. It involves a lot and it takes time. I can't control what he does. All I can do is order the survey and then wait until he is done. You can call me if I wanted to see on Friday." "I said I can, but if you're contacting the surveyor for status, can you just give me a call or a text and let me know what you find out at the end of the week." She said "I'll TRY to call you and I'll put it on my calendar but I'm so busy and I have this and that and this and that that I have to do and I'm so busy that I can't call people all the time." We finish the call and she doesn't hang up the phone and talks to the people in her office about us!!!! "Those Pettigrews are NASTY people. They won't take accountability for anything! They expect me to call them all the time, she calls me too many times and I can't......." this went on quiet a while and she comes back to the phone. I ask why she called us nasty people?!?!?!? Her answer is classic and describes her low moral standards ......"well, I didn't know that you could hear me". When I stated that I was going to get a realtor to represent OUR best interests because she certainly didn't (this was the second time in this process I've said that, once weeks ago) she said "well, then you won't be able to buy this property!" I did tell her how "it was going to go down. she was going to communicate with us at every step of the way like we had asked multiple times and she was going to do as we asked as she was working for our business. We wanted to speak to Dru and work with him because he seemed to communicate better with us". We ended the call and my husband then called back to cancel the offer. Dru answered and was combative, said that we called his mom too much and asked too many things. He had to repeatedly say "cancel the offer". "send the paperwork to cancel the offer". Dru kept on and on and on, just like mom. They had the nerve to list on the cover letter that I "offended her because I contacted her too much".... read more
