The telling point about picking an insurance company is how the company handles a claim. That's the…read morewhole reason to have insurance, to get help when you need it. I've had so many issues with State Farm lately -- and I've been with the company for about 50 years. I have never spoken to Lance Matsumura but his office staff have been polite. They don't seem as well versed in the insurance industry as one would expect and could not even tell me how much I should insure my house for or even how I could determine that number myself. I'm suspect that Lance Matsumura is a nice guy just trying to make a living in Hawaii. So this is not directed at him. Probably what I find the most frustrating is trying to file a claim. The local office doesn't handle it and cannot help you. Claims are outsourced to Georgia. I filed a claim on April 3rd and four days later a claim adjuster called, left a message. I immediately called the adjuster but got v/m and left a message. Left her 3 messages. Sent a few emails. No response. It's not even a big claim, just $450 for a tree falling from a neighboring property, and it's been so frustrating trying to get corporate to respond to me that it is not worth following up for me. Maybe that's what they want. I am beginning to question whether I should check out a Hawaii-based insurance company. Further, I have a hard time believing: like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. State Farm is not my neighbor in Hawaii. And hearing that song play on their recorded line over and over while I wait and wait and wait for a worker to get back to me just adds to the irritation of dealing with corporate out of Georgia. State Farm is just another Mainland business.

I had a small accident with my car and called my agent, Fe Valinton Torres, who sold me the policy…read more Seems I purchseded a policy with no collision coverage. I have never in my 68 years purchased a policy with no collision especially for a 3 year old car in perfect condition. Who would do that and who would sell someone a policy like that? Then she says "it says here that we discussed this". I asked for any notes to show I ever asked for or wanted a policy with no collusion. Nothing. The goal was to show a cheap premium and sell me a lousy policy. STAY AWAY!!

I've had our car insurance with All State for about 7 years and they decided not to renew my policy…read morebecause "I was high risk". I was involved in 3 accidents in 2 years that were not my fault. 1) Driver stopped on a main road and reversed into me. 2) I was stopped at a traffic light and the car behind me hit me 3) I was in a parking lot and a car reversed into me because she didn't see me. I also had drivewise with them and got paid for being a safe driver but they still didn't want to renew us. So... I contacted Lindsey Fox from Atlas Insurance. I gave her a copy of my current policy and she compared rates and found First Insurance (local company) that would give us over double the coverage for less cost. It's crazy I wish I looked into this earlier when my friends warned me about All State. First Insurance doesn't hold the accident against me because it was not my fault. I like that when I call she answers and if she's busy she calls right back. She also answers emails promptly. I personally like working with a local agent because if I have any questions or issues I can walk into the office and get help. I know that if I need assistance with a claim I can call First Insurance Directly or I can call Lindsey and she will work with them for me. It's very reassuring to have someone on your side when accidents happen. This was not the case with All State. Not to bash All State but when I got into the accident I called them as I'm supposed to notify them. I then had to work with the other insurance company (the responsible party) on my own because if I had All State assist me it would affect my rate. Even if they didn't pay out for the accident and the responsible claimed fault All State was going to charge me because they assisted me. How is that fair? I pay my premiums on time every month and they can't even help me? Yup.. so glad I switched. If you are thinking about car insurance or just want to compare rates I'd highly recommend contacting Lindsey from Atlas Insurance. She takes the time to answer your questions and explain anything you don't understand. She will find you the best rate and if your current rate is better she is not pushy and will encourage you to stay with your insurance company if you are happy with them. Call her.. you have nothing to lose and everything to save if she can get a better rate or maybe even provide you better service then you are getting from your current company. Thanks Lindsey for all you help and saving us money.
