My wife and I made a baby. A really awesome baby. And while my wife was in labor, I remembered "uhhohhh.....I don't have a push present!!"!! So, lucky for me (unlucky for my wife), she was in labor for a longgg long time. Which gave me plenty of time to figure out this push present thing!! I searched online for ideas, then saw the perfect gift idea...newborn photo session!!!!! Awesome!! Perfect!!! However, I didn't know of anyone in Gainesville who did this with anything nicer than and iPhone. So, I went down and google rabbit hole of research and research and more research. I (much like you are doing now) read a ton of reviews and went through every single gallery of every single photographer in and around north central Florida. This push present had to be spectacular and I had time to study, so hours were spent on finding the perfect newborn and family photographer. Let me make this long story shorter---I found two potential photographers, I messaged both of them the exact same message which was basically "I desperately need help with a photo shoot--- next week!!"! Within an hour, I was on the phone with Andrea, and she was so so incredibly easy and nice to talk with. This review won't give that conversation justice, but it was incredible and I immediately knew that I had struck gold with Andrea. (Side note, I got an email back from the other person I messaged stating that newborn photos needed to be scheduled during the second trimester and good luck on the push present). Now on to the review portion of my review: Leading up to the newborn photo shoot, I had a pre- photo session phone call about expectations, including every single thing you can think of. This phone call lasted well over an hour, and no detail was left out. Everything from "colors in the photo that will match your home decor" to "when to feed the baby prior" to "when to wake the baby up the morning of"......we even talked about my wife's wedding bouquet because we wanted to match some similar flowers. Y'all, I'm telling you it was unreal!! Fast forward on to the newborn session itself: We pull up and we were greeted outside. I knew exactly where to go and what to do because of the prior conversation...and with a newborn and being new parents and everything, I don't think I could have juggled more than a car seat. It was all so easy. We went inside to her studio and everything was laid out perfectly. The flow of the session was organized to the Nth degree. She had already send me picture texts of the backdrops before I arrived to make sure the colors match my living room, so really, it was nothing new :)! For anyone who may be wondering: I was never one time ever concerned about the safety of my baby girl. Andrea passes the baby back and forth as needed stating words of affirmation with me so there is no hesitation or question on safety. For the actual photos and set up: I told Andrea up front what I like and don't like. I'm a pretty straight forward person. She knows I don't like zoomed out tiny baby photos. She knows that I didn't want long torso shots of the parents. I could go on and on. My point is, she took my concerns to heart, and she bent over backwards to accommodate all of my wishes. The photos that she took of my little girl were jaw dropping. I have a little bit of experience with art and focal points and dimensions and angles in photography (I took a handful of these classes in college...not an expert by any means) but I did recognize that a lot of these things that create "the perfect picture" were being utilized the entire time. I even told my wife one time during the photo shoot "oh my gosh, she's playing jenga right now!" when Andrea was doing just onneee more little thing to position a finger just a litttle bit differently to create a perfect pose, as my daughter was trying to wake up from a nap. What an AMAZING experience we had with Andrea. If you are looking for a newborn photographer...look no further! Here are some thoughts. BABY HANDLING- It was clear that Andrea was comfortable and experienced with handling newborns. She was gentle and affectionate with my infant, making sure his head and body were always supported while being transferred or positioned. She was so incredibly patient. Andrea understands a baby's needs, paused to burp him if he felt uncomfortable, consoled and rocked him when needed, and was mindful of time, making sure he was never hungry. STUDIO ENVIRONMENT- Andrea's home studio is gorgeous and so very peaceful. She has comfortable seating for feeding, a changing table, extra diapers and pacifiers, and even had a towel on hand the second my little one spit up. She was mindful of and adjusted the temperature based on what my newborn was wrapped in for different shots. There is a bathroom right there, and even water and light snacks for the adults. She had a white noise "shusher" playing the whole time putting the baby-and adults- at ease. PROPS- Andrea has a wide variety of props for little boys and girls. So many beautiful fabrics/wraps of different colors and textures. She considered my preferences in props while also offering her expert opinions...which I ultimately ended up going with. My little brown skinned boy looked amazing in his neutrals! PROFESSIONALISM- Andrea was easy to work and communicate with. She responded quickly to text/phone/email and made sure I had all the information I needed. Her tips for a successful newborn session were helpful and brought success to my 6 week old's shoot. Her skills are impressive. OVERALL- I highly recommend Andrea and will certainly be using her again. She was creative and gave attention to details to get beautiful shots, but never sacrificed my comfort or baby's comfort to do so. My baby was the priority and you could tell Andrea thought he was just a precious as I did. It was her beautiful, tender-hearted nature and obvious expertise that made the photo shoot a peaceful experience. No stress. No rush. Just sweet moments and memories. THANK YOU ANDREA. I would 100% recommend Andrea Sollenberger Photography for newborn photos! We had such a wonderful experience and she captured the most beautiful pictures of our newborn daughter! Andrea is so patient and worked well with both our daughter and us. She pays close attention to detail and takes the time to make sure every picture is absolutely PERFECT. She was even able to get pictures of such cute poses that we never thought our little girl would stay still for! There are so many prop options available in almost every color, so we could pick out what we wanted to match the color scheme in our house. She focuses on what you want out of the session and will arrange props/colors/poses to fit that. She offers feeding breaks for baby, and snacks and drinks for mom and dad during the photo shoot. After the session, you go back a week or two later to review the pictures and pick out what you want, which in itself is a great experience! She had a slideshow video put together for us and showed it on the big screen TV! The quality of the photos are breathtaking and we had a hard time deciding which ones to put in print. But she offers the option of getting the digitals for all of them so we can have them forever. Andrea is such a pleasure to work with and her professionalism is outstanding. When we found out that I was pregnant, I knew I needed to find the perfect photographer for our newborn session. Andrea did not disappoint! From the very first contact to the last she went above and beyond our expectations. I love how attentive she was to what we were looking for. I enjoyed our first meeting where she showed me her home studio, it was very inviting and we discussed everything I was looking for in my session. During our session she made sure that we got the poses and color palette that we requested. While the majority of our days leading up to delivery felt rushed and chaotic, Andrea took the time to put our mind at ease with our maternity and newborn photo shoot. Everything was explained clearly and she had examples of her work and sizes of canvases all staged so we were easily able to convey what we wanted and see how it may fit in our own home. Her office setting was so peaceful and accommodating that we felt right at home. We chose to involve other members of our family in the shoot and Andrea was as gentle with my 87 year old grandmother as she was with our 13 day old newborn. We loved our maternity, newborn, and first birthday photos taken by Andrea Sollenberger Photography. Our maternity session helped us document our anticipation for our first baby. We felt so comfortable working with Andrea and loved our gallery. She made our newborn session fun and enjoyable for both us and our baby. Andrea is amazing at what she does! She is very organized, professional, and pays incredible attention to detail. She worked around our busy schedules as well.
