Other people had the same Idea, several were fishing or just enjoying the warm spring sun. At the chapel, we saw a young alligator as well as lots of bird life. Located near the UF Bat Houses and Lake Alice, this beautiful building is kind of just there. We didn't originally know what this building was. A place of worship, a performing arts venue, wedding chapel was really anyone's guess. It seems all those could be true as you can rent out this venue. There's a piano inside and plenty of seating with a long aisle. If visiting the bat houses early, walk across the street to admire this beautiful, peaceful, quaint spot. read more

The most beautiful location to hold a wedding. The place is affordable and accommodating. The bride has a room to get ready on-site, and the chapel fit our 75 guests comfortably. The ceremony felt intimate and romantic. It was everything I dreamed it would be, and I highly recommend it. read more

I must agree with Jaima's review of the Baughman Center. My husband and I loved our wedding here; and our guests could not stop talking about what a beautiful view this venue provided for the event! A couple things to know - they do not allow a lot of decorations in the building. No flowers other than those you carry, and nothing "affixed" to the building. In our view this was a benefit though. The building is beautiful on its own, and this is an incredible savings in your budget since you only need to worry about the reception, and the things you carry. Additionally, you are only allowed 96 people in the building (per fire codes), so if you are trying to keep your wedding small: done. A few other things: - There is a piano - There are built in speakers and a cd player in the building - There is a ramp for the main walkway, so is fully handicapped accessible. - The price is fairly inexpensive. You can rent it for 2 or more hours with or without a rehearsal, so there are some options to save money. - The perking area is a little small, but guests can park in the unpaved grassy area also. We got some beautiful pics here, and loved every second of our wedding. Dealing with the staff was extremely easy. They were really helpful! What a great day! read more

We were so hapy that we were able to have our wedding ceremony at the Baughman. With the pandemic, we weren't sure if we'd be able to, but it ended up working out. All our guests wore masks (they turned out to be good party favors!) and spaced themselves out. Zakiya was great and very helpful as we went through all of this. The building was beautiful and we got lots of great photos. It was also very reasonably priced if you're on a budget. I would definitely recommend it! read more

We got married at this beautiful chapel overlooking Lake Alice at the University of Florida. I think it is the perfect compromise for couples who are unsure if they want to get married inside or outside. You are inside so if the weather turns you don't need a plan B, but you feel like you are outside with the floor to ceiling windows on three sides overlooking the lush green space and Lake Alice. We had a smaller wedding of about 54 people and had ample space for guest seating as well as the wedding party of 10. You have the option of using their electric piano or renting a baby grand piano to be brought in; we stuck with the former and were very happy with the acoustics and volume. This location provided a stunning backdrop for pictures both inside and outside. There are also private rooms in the hidden office by the parking lot which is where the bridal party got ready. Speaking of parking it's free and couldn't be more convenient as it is located right next to the Baughman Center. Running behind schedule or guests arriving too early? On a nice day they can walk through the gardens outside or over the little bridge to look at Lake Alice. My highest praise for this place is that despite knowing that hundreds of people get married here every year this really felt like OUR day and OUR place. It could not have been more perfect from the staff, to the set up, to the ambience and overall feel. read more

My Fiance fell in love with building so we met with them and signed the paperwork to have it reserved. They do not let you pay more then a year in advance, but we were assured that date was reserved. Three months after signing the paper work we got a call to say because we didn't follow up in 60 days they gave our date and time to someone else. It was still more then a year from our date so we didn't have any money down. we have never heard their 60 day policy and when my fiance spoke with them. She admitted there was no such policy, she was mistaken. However we still wouldn't be able to have that time and date because someone had booked it supposedly 5 months before us. I'm not sure why it took them 3 months to figure out they had double booked, but in the mean time we have already hired other vendors for that date and time. They had nothing to say to us except oops. read more

Picture perfect venue to have our wedding ceremony at! Once we got engaged, we knew we wanted to have our wedding there. The architecture is so stunning and it looks like a fairytale inside. When the sun shines in the building over the lake, it looks magical. We visited several times before our wedding to look at the layout and decide how to walk up the stage. It worked out perfectly that they have a digital piano inside so our pianist could use that during the ceremony. Everyone that helped us throughout the planning process was great. Brianna was an absolute pleasure to work with - so helpful, answered all of our questions and gave us great tips for our ceremony. We felt comfortable planning our whole wedding ourselves but needed someone to help direct the bridal party for the entrances for the ceremony (without the added cost of hiring a day of coordinator). Brianna arranged to have student volunteers assist during our wedding rehearsal and for the day of the ceremony. This was a lifesaver and saved us hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. The student volunteers were amazing and so professional. It seemed like they had a lot of experience doing this previously, it really showed! Brianna also made sure that extra items we wanted for the ceremony (cocktail table and folding chairs) were setup inside. Everyone truly made it a wonderful and stress free experience. All of our guests commented that we chose such a beautiful venue for our ceremony. All of our pictures from the day look so dreamy! read more
