Rocking J Venue - My sons first birthday

I was extremely disappointed in the way things were handled regarding my attempt to book this venue…read morefor my November 2026 reception. My mom had an initial conversation with Brian then, same day, my fiancé and I had a conversation with Brian (without his wife) to specify inclusions. I told him we can pay cash (at the time $6500 which included venue, food, dessert, alcohol & DJ) and could pay it that day and he said I don't make any booking decisions without my wife-- fair, I get it no issues. They called me back, affirmed the things we discussed, the inclusions, everything. But said they wouldn't get the contract to us until after Memorial Day. Then, all of us-- my mom, my fiance, myself and both owners had a conversation where the $6500 was increased to $7500 because they insisted alcohol wasn't included in the original quote (2 beers, 2 wines and 2 signature cocktails). So we conceded and agreed on the $7500. Then they insisted they never promised a DJ in the original conversation, so again we conceded and agreed we would find our own and repeatedly confirmed $7500 cash, no taxes and no mention of any other fees. When the owner texted me at 10 PM CST (I live in Colorado so the text reflects 9pm mountain time) to ask if I received the contract I told her yes, however the contract doesn't reflect the amount we confirmed in the phone earlier that day. (It was $650 MORE) She didn't take responsibility for the bait and switch and was unwilling to make it right. When I called her husband to let him know that due to the mistrust we would be booking elsewhere he was extremely apologetic and insisted that the $650 his wife claimed we had to pay in addition to the original quote was actually INCLUDED in the quote and that his wife was mistaken. The level of disorganization & miscommunications going on here left me with the feeling of what possible issues we might have in the coming months if the owners can't even get on the same page. When I texted the wife that we would be taking our money elsewhere she said "We hope you somehow find a way to gather and celebrate the joyous occasion together in a more cost effective way. Maybe a park, or relatives home, etc..." which was incredibly rude and insulting considering money was actually no object in this scenario but rather the lack of organization, trust, and transparency in addition to the bait and switching about the overall cost. Bottom line: The husband is the one with the empathy, the people skills and the ability to apologize and attempt to make things right without insulting the client. However the person that any future clients will have to deal with is his wife who unfortunately didn't show the same level of care, empathy, and apologetic demeanor as her husband. One final thing to note-- the contract that was sent was filled out by hand and was hardly legible with all the scratching out as I have attached below. And my issue wasn't that gratuity needed to be paid or a security deposit needed to be paid, I understand those are customary in these sorts of processes. The problem was NON-DISCLOSURE until the contracting. It was the disorganization. The inability to recognize when they're wrong and unwillingness to make it right. So what was supposed to be $6500 originally got a 25% increase in fees over the course of negotiations and contracting. Overall I'm sure this venue can really be remarkable and looks beautiful from the pictures. However, my experience is a testament that there seems to be a pattern with disorganization, miscommunication etc. If there were more streamlined processes, a method for sending a contract so it's not filled in by hand, and a sales person in there who can reach out to clients at reasonable hours (not 10 pm cst) and who clearly communicate the accurate pricing from the beginning and even if there is a mistake, they can own it and not insult the client in the process and suggest we "couldn't afford" them, then this could really be a phenomenal venue. But as it stands I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

You can get a flight of wines for $5 or a glass of wine or a pint of beer for $5 each. You can even do a tour and tasting for $10. Plus, all the bottles are pretty much under $25. And they have quite a large variety of whites, reds, and roses too. Cindy, one of the owners, is so very friendly and helpful. She will go through an entire tasting with you with the highest level of patience, allowing you to taste and try anything you'd like to. Her brother-in-law also Is a gem, he himself Popsicles to all of the kids running around and let them ride on the tractor or explore into the garden. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Arthur was the live music for the day and he played a great variety of songs (acoustic guitar). The wine is fantastic. I do not know a lot about wine, but I do know that each one we tasted (6) was very easy to drink. We shared a bottle there and I brought 2 home. Bonus: you can bring your own snacks (no beverages). I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine. Anywaaaay, make a little weekend out of visiting this area and have a lovely time at Edg Clif. (Photos do not do it justice)

It was pricey. No surprise. We are a military family with a rich history. That's where the niceties ended. The site management was very unprofessional. It was all about the money and room boundaries. The room rental contract was not upheld. We rented the entire clubhouse. On the day of the wedding, the property manager decided to be a drama queen. Limiting accessibility of rooms, the length of time in the rooms for changing, the facility was too warm and our things were moved to an obscure location. The restrooms were dirty and needed sinks repaired. A large "service dog". Was allowed in the kitchen and reception area. After pleading with the property manager to remove the animal, she continued to allow the animal to roam freely. Both families were concerned for guests with allergies. I asked if it violated health and safety standards. I was answered with a disdainful, "This service dog lives here. You don't." Attitude! The bridal party had to avoid doggie droppings in the beautiful outdoors photos. Very inconvenient! No other events were scheduled for the same day. We were still herded out of rooms and the facility with zero manners from the staff. The reception food was mediocre & bland. The servers were not friendly and didn't smile. We paid for the cleanup but were told there would be extra charges if we didn't do it ourselves! We were in formal attire and I personally had no idea where my casual clothes were. So we disassembled decorations and removed our items and took trash to the dumpster in wedding clothes! The contract meant nothing to them once they had our money. After we were mistreated in such a graceless, disrespectful manner, I cannot recommend this site to anyone in good conscience.

Andrea either works with catering vendors or cooks the food and it was delicious! We did have somethings we didn't like. It was hard to get a hold of them. They wouldn't communicate with my day of coordinator. You have to pay a $300 deposit if you want a candy bar. I believe it was in the contract and as it was my dream to have one i definitely should have read it more carefully. My main problem is you don't have alot of time in the venue. You get max 8 hrs in the venue. 2hrs before for finishing set up,hair makeup, before pictures and then 2 hrs for rehearsal to set up and rehearse. Talk about stress on getting stuff done. Please make sure your guess know there is a service dog on the premises. My husband and I had no problem with that but guests did.in conclusion read the contract closely! The venue was a deal compared to other venues just as nice. Also you do have the option of indoors and outdoors and they serve, clean up(mandatory fee) and set up chairs and tables for you! We did a cash bar and they were very fair to our guests! So overall we had a beautiful wedding we wish the very best to the women and staff at Forehonor! We just would've liked better communication and flexibility. We love that they support Veterans mental well being and pray that they thrive for many years to come!
