When you see Hispanic patrons frequenting the restaurant you know you are eating authentic cuisine from people who know amazing Puerto Rican cuisine! The owners are just beautiful people inside and out!!! I'm so glad they are in Salem! I've had almost everything on the menu! I absolutely love the food!!! There are people who drive distances to get their favorite dishes! I'm a fan of the garlic chicken, the rice and beans, the chicken soup, the plantains, the pastelles, the mofongo is amazing!!!! And don't get me started on the desserts!!! My fav restaurant within a 50 mile radius!

I gave them $10,000 in cash because they promised they would do a job for me. They did not. Instead, after taking my money, they sold their big house, disconnected their phone, and left for the state of Florida in an RV. I was left trying to figure out what happened to the money I worked hard for. What makes this hurt even more is the trust I placed in them. They presented themselves as Christians and people of integrity. I took them at their word. Unfortunately, their actions have left me questioning whether those words meant anything at all. I am a veteran, and I know what trust, honor, and keeping your word are supposed to mean. This post is a warning: Please be extremely careful before doing business with these people. I trusted them. It cost me $10,000. I'm not posting this because I want sympathy. I'm posting it because I don't want someone else to make the same mistake I did. DO NOT LOAN THEM MONEY.

Monfongo, bifongo, trifongo . . . Since it was our first time in, we tried a lot of different items. The Monfongo with chicharones de pollo was excellent. The pastillilo de carne was good. The papas locas (with carne) was really good. It was so big, we couldn't finish it. We ordered it for an appetizer but it really could be an entree. The arroz con gondules was good. It could have had a little more flavor, but it was fine. I ordered a side of the trifongo since only the monfongo came with the entrees. I really liked their trifongo. Hubby got the pina colada frappe and it was very good, very fresh. Definitely a good place to visit. Street parking. Service was a little scattered and it took a lot longer for our food than expected. Lots of families and lots of people taking out, in addition to almost packed tables. Go, enjoy the Boricua food and feel like you're on an island. :)

The chicken was pretty good. I think everything would've been better either in the store or just hotter. (The fries weren't warm). We will definitely be trying this place again.

Date of visit: July 30, 2025…read more Now where was I, I just left Rehoboth Beach this morning after a nights stay. Today I took RT9 north along the coast, Delaware river. All I could think about was a foot-long from the Dog House. After a great cruise and a stop at the museum at Dover Air force base I made it to New Castle. Making the merge onto RT13 I could the sign ahead of me. Parking can be tough but there was spot out front. I did notice the sign has changed, again. My father had been taking me here since 1969. It was our place to go on our Saturday trips from Jersey since it is a sales tax free state. After walking in I couldn't help notice how the inside had changed (last time here was 2021). If you think it has a nostalgic feel now, you have seen it in the '80s and '90s. They have taken down all the hand painted signage and replaced the menu board with a modern one, dang. I just hope they don't plan on franchising the place. I managed to grab a seat at the counter and in no time I was placing my order. All in all, the food is still done the same. Dogs split and grilled on the flat top and the fries are great with their own signature seasoning. If you are in the area and wanting a great foot-long or even a burger please stop in, you won't be disappointed. Peace.
