It was very easy to have conversations during the project and to select material and gave them pick it up. Andres Landscaping helped with our front yard renovation in 2020. We had recovered flagstone from the backyard to use in the front. They did a beautiful job creating the pathway on the slope; they even fixed the brick steps to make it look nice. Sometimes communication was an issue as far as emailing or calling & not getting a response but I'm sure they are very busy. Two months later: Promises to fill some small cracks in the walkway were never done although we were assured they would be. I suspect once the large project was paid off the motivation to return for follow up was gone. I wish I kept more before photos so I could share the transformation better. The landscapers worked so hard, arriving at 8:30 and leaving at 5:00. Maria's interpretations of what I was asking for were excellent! I can't draw but I told Maria what I wanted and she gave me that and more. Even her idea of dark bark was a great idea. I had no idea they made black bark! We opted for a section of artificial turf because I miss the green in the yard. I love it. It feels enough like grass to me. I look out the windows and it is beautiful. They laid layers of wire, rock, barriers, and finished off the decomposed granite to help with weed abatement and vole infestations. The yard is about 40x50 and was done in four days!!! In addition they cleaned it all the weeds in the flagstone and trimmed a wealth of hedges. When they were done the yard was rinsed and swept and chairs and planted pots were put back. read more

Maria and Andres were wonderful people to work with. Very kind and honest people. Their team worked so hard and fast transforming our old backyard with new artificial grass and paver walk-ways. The backyard became a little heaven for the kids to play on. I was surprised to see any negative reviews for the4m - but after reading them I realized they are just typical Santa Cruz grumps complaining about missed calls and lost manuals. I called based on Yelp reviews and was surprised when Maria agreed to come out on a Sunday to view the yard and give us a bid. Maria and Andres came out together, measured the yard, talked through our plans, and made a few suggestions in places where we weren't quite sure what we wanted. In doing our due diligence, we also had another company come out to bid the same project and that company took two weeks to get back to us with a bid, after we repeatedly called and emailed. We knew then that we had to go with Andres Landscape because they not only were responsive to my phone calls, good natured and seemed easy to work with, but also their bid was quite reasonable. They showed up when they said they would to start the work; in Santa Cruz, that's often unheard of! And, I was surprised by how quickly they finished the project! They took two and a half days (the half day was cut short due to rain) to: tear out old, dead grass and weeds; lay gopher wire throughout; trim bushes; lay down weed block and then put bark around the perimeter; lay sod; install pavers along the driveway to extend our parking capacity; and install a timer on our irrigation system. They taught us how to work the timer and said they'd be back in two weeks to cut the grass for us. I would highly recommend Andres Landscaping for any project. They were professional, fast, did a great job, and they are very reasonably priced. read more

I phoned Maria on Friday (yesterday) for the company to look at my drip system problem on Saturday (today). She suggested 11:00 a.m. and I put it in my calendar. I gave her two phone numbers to reach me. On Saturday, she was a no-show--and a "no-phone". I waited 25 minutes and phoned her. When she answered, I gave her my name and reminded her that she said she'd come by at 11:00. She sounded confused and asked my address. Then she said her current project was taking longer and she'd come over afterwards. If a person can't keep an appointment, can't remember it, and can't phone, that's a no-go. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! I was quoted a price for my yard, mowing weed eating, etc. My yard is Less than an acre, example, the workers spent. Maybe, 15 Minutes on my property! They wanted to charge an extra 10 dollars to take care of a patch of ground that would have taken 2 or 3 Minutes of their time. The Insane part is that it is PART OF THE YARD!! I am disabled and I feel as though they only wanted to take advantage of me. There are Other Landscaping/Mowing companies out there who care about the customer, Go There! I don't know I how this place got such rave reviews, but with my experience, BEWARE of this "company"! Would give 0 stars, but it's not an option. The men working at the company told us that they were not coming back because of us asking them to weed eat or finish the rest of the yard. read more

I didn't get to experience the quality of their work. Maria and Andres came out, looked at the job and never came up with a bid. I called after about a week to ask for my bid and whoever took the call asked for my address again and said she would look for the bid and e-mail it to me. That was that. Andres and Maria responded quickly to my query about installing artificial turf and came out the next day to give me an estimate. Due to the abundant rain, they had to wait a bit to actually get started but, once they did, they proceeded rapidly and did an excellent job. Each day the works area was left spotless. Besides putting in the turf, they cleaned up the other area of my front yard, repaired a broken fence and installed some anchor chain along the border. I had a yucca plant that was getting out of control and they split it and replanted it so that it will shape into a nice tree. They installed the sprinkler system just fine. However, my manual that I had disappeared after they finished. I called to get help resetting the timer and this is where everything fell apart. After I texted, emailed, and finally called them to come back to fix the issue I was told someone would be here at 5:00 pm. No-one showed. They refuse yo return any texts or emails. My neighbor and I compared four quotes from different sources. Andres Landscaping and one other were $3900 for about 130 feet of fence. My neighbor and I decided to go with Andres Landscaping because they put the extra effort - both Maria and Andres actually came out for the estimate, they gave me numbers right there, and then produced formal estimates via email - which shows professionalism. Their was a small glitch with paperwork, what they sent me via email - it has financial terms, but is clearly labeled "Estimate" (so I did not think it was the contract). After I informed them we wanted them to do the work - I received an email a with a start date. Then no more correspondence - and when that start date came, no one showed up. Then I received an email late in that day saying I never signed the contract. What? I looked through my email again - no contract sent to me - only an estimate. This did not sit well with me at all. This is a communication issue. But here is why they get 5 stars. Maria and Andre made it right, they called early the next morning and were out by 8:30am with the crew. They finished very quickly (about 1.5 days). The work they performed was excellent. The work crew was polite and professional, they knocked on the door and kept me clear. They cleaned up everything afterwords. The fence is straight as an arrow. That is good business. Advice to Andres and Maria - just change the form to read "Estimate/Contract", and when you send it, in the email wording, you could simply say something like "Attached is your estimate, which is also a contract. Please review the financial terms, sign and return the Estimate/Contract, and provide a check for the 10% deposit." That would just make it clearer, for everyone. I met with Andres and his wife Maria a few weeks ago and had them look at my property. We made a whole plan and I agreed I wanted them to do it after how fast they came and overall wonderful attitude. They told me they would call the next day with an estimate and start day. That was 3 weeks ago and I've called 6 times and they claim every time that they are looking for my estimate and will call back in 5 minutes. I had several other properties I wanted them to do but it's clear they don't want my business. I will not be contacting or referring them in the future. read more

We are so happy we went with andres! Him and his wife maria were very helpful. We got multiple bids for our yard from other company's and andres gave us the best price. After the contract was signed, they went above and beyond what was in the contract. He built me a retaining wall, built a cement walkway, put in a drip system, and fixed my drainage problem. Him and his workers worked their butts off! The artificial lawn he installed is beautiful! My kids love it! I feel like we have our own park in our front yard. The neighbors are all jealous, and people have to feel it to see if its real or fake grass. No water, no mowing, no more yard work! My life has improved thanks to andres! read more

I highly recommend Andres Landscaping. There were very responsive, came out right away and gave me a written estimate and emailed a formal estimate. There started the job early and finished on time. Every one that worked on the job site was very nice and my yards were left clean. The built a side fence (80 feet) 6 feet and 12 inches of lattice. Andres, Maria and crew were outstanding. They turned a huge completely awful backyard into a wonderful space that our family can now use! They met all appointment times and estimate was delivered as promised. All work was completed on time as agreed to even with having to address extra unforeseen issues that came up (they had to replace deck support posts that we didn't realize were failing as well as complete a few extra jobs we kept tacking on!) All crew was friendly and courteous. Price for job as well as extended tacked on work was more than fairly priced. Included in this job were retaining walls, both wood and rock, building of a pergola, concrete sidewalk, decomposed granite walkways, installation of sod with complete sprinkler system/timers, raised vegetable beds, tree trimming, fountain base installation, complete drip system, plants purchased and planted. They even surprised us and placed a water bib near the vegetable beds as we had no bib in the backyard at all! Again, this yard was horrible to start with. Knee high weeds and LOTS of concrete where there wasn't weeds that needed to be broken up and hauled out. I would highly recommend using them for any job. read more

andres and maria are fine people however the communication skills leave a lot to be desired. their is no distinction between weeds and plants and if it looks like you can afford it they will charge you. make sure to ask for a detailed quote, its unlikely you will have mirrored back to you what you expected. ones word is important however that needs to go both ways. read more
