2.5 years ago i was looking for a new Endo and asked a PHD pharmacist friend who specialized in diabetes to recommend a doctor who was progressive and took an active aggressive approach to treatment versus " just give em more metformin" like my previous Dr. Dr Splenser has been amazing. When I started with him my diabetes wasn't very controlled and my Dr at the time wasn't listening, had little advice l, and simply wanted to increase my dosage of meds. Dr Splenser actually LISTENED to my situation and after accessing a variety of factors unique to me completely changed my medication approach. Over the past two plus years we've continued to evolve my medication and treatment plan as my condition has improved. Dr Splenser is ahead of the curve when it comes to emerging technology (FreeStyle Libre) and new medication. My pharmacist has even remarked that my Endo " really knows his stuff" based on the continued evolution of my treatment plan but most important my ever improving numbers. I have to take a little credit...I've worked my ass off when it comes to diet and fitness but Dr Splenser has been a great Guide and Partner on my Diabetic journey. Dr. Splenser is amazing and I would highly recommend him to friends and family. I went to him after doing the mistake of reading the internet and thinking I had some thyroid problems, but thankfully I was able to find a Doctor that is such a good listener and cares a lot about his patients to calm me down and answer all my questions. He was able to confirm I was healthy without any thyroid problems as I had thought. Unlike others, he was very honest, even if that meant I did not have to come see him again or "losing a customer". Not only was Dr. Splenser and his staff friendly and on time, but they stayed after 5pm answering all my questions/doubts and they were happy to do so. I went to see Dr. Splenser with some aging related issues. I am beginning to show some signs of aging a little prematurely. As I explained to him my concerns and symptoms, Dr. Splenser was patient and addressed all of my concerns and fears and recommended what tests to have performed. He's no-nonsense but thorough and smart. He doesn't just start ordering every test, like many doctors do, but instead orders the exact tests I needed. He was also direct with me about my condition, what medicine I needed to take and what expectations I should have. He encouraged me to get involved in taking care of myself with exercise and diet as well as lifestyle changes. So impressive! Also, I was happy to hear he speaks Spanish fluently and he even let me practice my Spanish with him. I wish there were more doctors like him! I have never felt rushed during my visits. I have struggled with losing weight for many years, and he has worked with me to try several different ways to address my concerns. I found Dr. Splenser on the net for my husband who has uncontrolled type 2 diabetes. We had been using a physician in Dallas for years, since that was where he was working, and had not changed because my husband loved his dr there. I finally said enough we are not traveling there anymore just to see a dr. I went looking for someone that would care for him as much as I do and I found that in Dr. Splenser. I DON'T WRITE REVIEWS: I expect to get what I paid for or I find someone else. But what Dr. Splenser did for me was Life changing. I wasted 5 years and 3 Diabetic Doctors to get my Insulin Levels Below the mid 300's then mid 200's using as directed using 3 types of Injectable Insulin a day at the tune of $4800.00 per Prescription. Dr. Splenser had my Sugar Levels Normal within 3 months at a fraction of the Cost on a single Pen twice a day. I feel Great and THAT'S AMAZING!!! I have been going to Dr. Splenser for the last year, after my GP referred me for high blood sugar issues. Since then, I've lost 30 pounds (I was a bit porky...), my blood sugar is back in range, and my blood pressure is a solid 120/80. In general, I think he is a great doctor, but what sets him apart for me is that he is willing to explain- in fairly technical detail, exactly what my medications are and how they work together in my body. Most docs give you a scrip and run you out the door. I always have questions, and he is always willing to answer to my satisfaction. If you need an endocrinologist, this is the guy to see. read more

I struggled to find an endo who understood what it is like to be a runner, and a T1 diabetic. He does! I've been a patient for 3 years, and he's seen me through numerous marathons. He just understands how to tweak that basal, what fuel to try...he is one reason at the age of 60, I could complete a full marathon.
