Our first attempt at our company's corporate headshots was horrible. Everyone looked like they were sick, bad lighting, positioning etc.-all so bad. I write a lot of articles and do presentations all over Illinois. So it was bound to happen that someone would ask for a headshot for promotions. I did not have one. So I looked on Yelp and found Andrew. We had originally planned to take the pictures outside with a backdrop but was then told I needed muted backgrounds. So, I contacted Andrew and he was accommodating. I met him at his studio instead which was very nice and professional. This was my first time doing this so he walked me through it. He tried to engage me in different ways to get different shots. He also was really excited to try some new equipment he had bought. I just got my professional business photos taken with Andrew. It was a great experience. He was quick to respond to the inquiry I made via his website and worked with me to schedule a time that worked into both our schedules. I was on a pretty tight timeline so we took pictures on Wednesday afternoon, I gave them a view online by Friday evening, picked my favorites for retouching on Monday afternoon, and got the final retouched digital copies by Tuesday afternoon. He welcomed me into his studio and I was comfortable from the start. It was a collaborative effort and Andrew was patient with me - reminding me to lift my chin, look left, look right, etc... and he valued my input. My photos turned out great! Our session took a little longer than planned but I was pleased with the end results and appreciated that he wanted to get quality shots. Andrew's price point for both the shoot and photos/digital copies was the most reasonable I found in the Bucktown/Wicker Park/Logan Square area. I was looking for a photographer last minute before Christmas to get a couple of really nice photos for a friend I met in Germany this past October and he was coming to visit for the holidays. I really cannot say enough about how professional Andrew is. He has everything needed for professional headshots-backgrounds, lighting, mirrors, etc. He is also very efficient from booking online to the day of the shoot. I was nervous about the quality of the headshot as I've had horrible ones. His photos are great. He helps with angles and posing. He then shows you the images and gets you down to 2-3 very quickly. We had Andy and his team do our wedding day photography, and have only positive things to say about them! Photography was a priority for us, but not something we wanted to spend over the top for, and Andrew's package options fit the bill for us. For a reasonable cost, we got a team of four that came to our hotel, spend two hours riding around downtown with us for wedding party shots, and then did a great job of capturing the venue, ceremony moments, and key parts of the reception. Having four people working our event really made a difference because we came away with lots of shots of the two of us without sacrificing getting all the other stuff - cocktail hour, people arriving, people at dinner, couples dancing, etc. Andy and the guys also did a great job of getting ceremonial moments from lots of different angles so we have a ton of shots to choose from. During the wedding party shots in the afternoon, Andy and the guys dealt well with little hiccups that come along when you try to get around downtown Chicago with a limo and make pictures work. They were creative, fun, and good at getting candids even while we were walking to and from the limo. Basically, I would recommend Andrew Collings Photography for a wedding for sure. They were fun to work with, professional, and the end product was amazing. Andrew, Will & Brent shot our wedding in October. The pictures are incredible - the photos show a great range of traditional moments and wonderful candid shots... Our package included hundreds of color prints, black & white prints, as well as CDs that contain the image files. The black & white photos are my favorites - everyone comments that they look like postcards... We weren't one of those couples with an extravagent wedding budget, but we felt our wedding photos would be worth an investment. Andy was the main photographer for our wedding and also did our engagement shoot. This was one of the most important vendors for my husband, so he had the final call on who we hired. I had him look through a whole bunch of portfolios and he flagged this one right away as one of his favorites. His prices were reasonable, and he was really responsive to emails and calls all the way through. On the day of the wedding, he and his team showed up on time, and for the next 9 hours, managed to be everywhere and and nowhere at the same time. At no point did they feel intrusive, but we just got the pictures back last week, and it looks like the captured pretty much everything. So I hired Andrew Collings in February of this year for my wedding this upcoming February (2010). My fiancee and I met with about 4-5 different photographers in the city and even in the 'burbs, and I can tell you that he is by far the most flexible and reasonably priced wedding photographer..and with the absolute best portfolio! Andy was professional, responsive and great to work with! We used him for companywide new headshots, and he ran a two-day shoot for us complete with hair/make up artists and a photography assistant. Everything ran really smoothly, from setting up early to showing me what the pictures would look like and checking everyone in as they came. He made each person feel comfortable, and look their best, even accommodating individuals' special requests (like outfit changes and limited flashes to prevent migraines). After the fact, we quickly received our photos in a user-friendly online system and could easily choose our favorites for editing (he even included his recommendations for each person). His prices were reasonable and he totally "got" my vision for my company's photo aesthetic. I wanted something modern and bright, but still classic enough to fit in a traditional corporate industry. andrew collings and two of his associates (brent and kate) photographed our june wedding at the peggy notebaert nature museum... they were wonderful to work with and made our bridal party feel at ease. overall, we were pleased with the photos but do feel there were some missed opportunities... our ceremony pictures are very one-note and there aren't any pictures of our guests in the butterfly haven or other exhibits. with that being said, we would still highly recommend this studio... read more

Andrew and his team shot my wedding. And of course they did an amazing job. I consider myself to be a relatively non-traditional bride in that I was not crazy over every little detail. As a matter of fact, most of the details didn't matter to me (that's what a wedding planner is for), except for the photography. I looked at a lot of photographers and Andrew stood out by far. Any wedding photographer can luck into a few nice photos, in the case of most wedding photographers those are the pics that end up being placed on their website. But if you ask any of these average photographer to show you a full wedding they've shot you're likely to be disappointed, because the candids don't look good. I wanted a photographer who would make me, my future husband and my guests look good. Wedding photographers are expensive I wanted to get more then just a few nice shots out of the deal. I knew that I wanted Andrew to shoot my wedding after seeing a few of the weddings he had done. Every little candid snapshot was amazing. All of the pictures were great, not just a lucky few. I'm sure this has to do with the fact that he's using the best equipment and that he's a talent photographer, but it also has to do with his photojournalist style and the fact that he actually cares about your wedding. On our wedding day we went to many of the popular spots in Chicago, so we were not the only bridal party at most of the locations. I really felt like a lot of the other wedding photographers around us were just going through the motions, cranking the photos out, doing the same cheesy dated poses they do for every wedding.
