If you are even 1% considering doing this for yourself, for the love of god DO IT!!!! This is genuinely one of my favorite things I've ever done for myself. I had the most incredible experience with Cara and Melissa, and I feel like the photos (which are amazing, not shy about tooting my own horn here) ended up just being the cherry on top, which is wild. Can you relate to the following? 1. You've thought about doing this before, but wanted to wait until you got fitter, hair was longer, blah blah blah - NO, STOP IT. I know you've looked back to photos of yourself and thought "damn, why was I so critical? I looked great!" LEARN YOUR LESSON! You look great now, too. Book ittttttt 2. You've gotten professional photos done before, and didn't totally love how they turned out. ME TOO. This includes professional headshots, engagement photos, wedding photos, my passport photo (ha). I would see them and think okay those are nice, a like a few, but somehow they felt like they didn't really capture how I see myself. CARA SPECIFICALLY, not just any photographer, will capture YOU how you see yourself. It's the absolute beeeeeest. Which leads to point 3: 3. Have you ever seen yourself in the mirror and are like "hell yeah, nice!" and then you see yourself in a photo the same day and you're like "what the hell....is my mind warped?!" And then you have to ask your friends/sister "yo do I look like that?" And they say no definitely not? Yeah I don't get it either. It's weird (and the cameras fault- not yours) - and it won't happen with Cara. You'll look bomb and your photos will show you looking bomb. Here's the thing, the whole photoshoot experience was so much fun, and in the top 10 times I've felt the most amazing about myself. Cara and her team care about you and will take care of you. I started reading reviews, looking at Instagram and different websites. There were many affordable and cheaper package options but the photos on those sites looked noticeably less professional, and of a lower quality. If you are going to get out of your comfort zone and go through with the effort of having hair and makeup done, you want the real deal. As soon as I saw The Atelier's photos, I was blown away.  Being a former professional ballet dancer I was instantly drawn to the aesthetics of Cara's work. My experience with Cara was amazing. I had never heard of boudoir photography before and found Cara through a good friend of mine. Originally this was supposed to be a gift for my bf but I didn't realize that it would also be a gift for myself. I am rather shy and was extremely nervous to do something like this. I had my boudoir album done by Cara for my wedding. Before choosing Atelier, I spent probably a few hours on Instragram combing through photos. I didn't want anything cheesy and instead something high end. I kept clicking on the Atelier's photos. Cara might be one of the most responsive people I know. Not only so, but with every interaction, she makes you feel like the only person in the world. During the shoot, she truly made me feel beautiful. I've discovered a new appreciation for my body. A couple of weeks later, Cara sat down with me and helped me pick out the photos for my album. I had it narrowed down to like 100 or so, and she helped me narrow it down to ~40. I just couldn't narrow it down further - all of the images were stunning. Cara was very responsive during the editing process and gave honest feedback. Her attention to detail was outstanding. Finally, the album is a dream, and the quality is amazing. My fiance wants more photos! Do yourself a favor and stop your search for a boudoir photographer here. I cannot imagine Cara failing you. She has vision, tact, class, humor. She shoots beautiful photos. Her prices are more than reasonable for something that you will probably only do once. Another wonderful thing about Cara is her versatility. I'm a reserved person, pretty shy in front of the camera, and she coached me through the whole thing. However, at the very end she encouraged me to let loose a little (like last 4 frames). I really had trouble. What this tells me, however, is that if you come to The Atelier with some of your own ideas, she isn't going to shoot you down. Like many women, this started as a project for my fiancé. I realized it was more for me than him when I got so anxious that I told him my plans. Try not to give away your surprise to your fiancé if you are riding an emotional roller coaster perpetuated by insecurity of paying for your perceived flaws exposed on film. Ideally, you are totally secure in yourself, or this isn't a surprise for anyone, because you are totally worth it! And guess what? You don't need to buy too much lingerie! Don't freak out about the lingerie like I did. To summarize, Cara made an intimidating experience enlightening and fun and I learned more about myself than I expected. I want to express my complete and utter gratitude to Cara. I shot my boudoir photos as a wedding gift to my husband 2 years ago. I have a lot of experience with photo shoots, mainly as a professional dancer, but this was a completely different, amazing experience. First off, I wanted to do something creative and Cara helped me finagle a plan to get my husband to drive his motorcycle down to her studio so we could use it in the shoot without him knowing what was going on - complete commitment to making my experience unique. It was incredible! The thought of being photographed in a neglige and/or lingerie was both exciting and terrifying for me. I just did my boudoir session earlier this month and OH. MY. GOD. Cara is absolutely amazing! From the moment I contacted her about a session it felt like she was my long lost friend whom I'd known for years. Excellent communication from the beginning and extremely helpful with preparations. There are no words to describe how much I loved working with Cara! I first did my boudoir shoot a few years ago (a long overdue review). I can't say enough amazing things about my experience with Cara. I spent weeks reaching out to different boudoir photographers, but as soon as I heard back from Cara I knew she was the one. This was definitely something that was out of my comfort zone, but she immediately put me at ease. She was so responsive and answered all of my questions. I knew exactly what to expect at every step of the way to the point that I wasn't even nervous anymore when I arrived for my shoot. The shoot itself was SO MUCH FUN.
