In this last experience at making a routine appointment, I spoke with a technician on the phone who was condescending, argumentative, and would not listen to me on what my cat needed. She dug her heels in. Then the vet (whom I did not speak to myself) called and left a message explaining the rationale of the THEIR decision on what my cat needed without involving me in that process. I cannot trust anyone with my animals who won't listen to me. Unfortunately I won't be returning. I spoke with some friends feeling frustrated and three of them said "I would never take my pets to Dogwood". I've since moved to a different local vet and so far, had a very good experience from scheduling to interacting with all the techs and vets!

But also had a weird cough/breathing issue. The tech(could not find picture on their website so I don't know who it was) did not like my dog and kept making snide remarks, I offered to muzzle her and they did not have me do that. She is anxious and just needs a caring and loving staff. The last comment that made me angry was when I overheard her telling the vet that "of course she coughs she barks like a maniac, having that kind of dog back there a 2nd time puts the entire staff at risk" I confronted her saying she coughs all the time, not just when she barks. She was rude, gave me a dirty look and only apologized when my husband got there. My dog came back from chest X-rays and the other tech went on about how sweet and loving my dog was. So I know she was behaving back there. Dr. Damman comes back and says he saw a blip but he thinks she must have moved during the X-ray and so he diagnosed her with a brain tumor, based off symptoms. They didn't want to help my dog. He just shoved seizures meds, discouraged us from seeking a specialist with talks of the THOUSANDS it's gonna cost me and that nothing that can be done for brain tumors. It would only give my dog another year tops. He said Take her home, give her these meds(phenobarbital) to help her, and enjoy the time you have left. The meds were absolutely awful and the longer she took them the worse she got. I called up there 3 times before the vet got back to me and he left a voicemail saying that I should bring her in to "evaluate quality of life". That was it. I called Hononegah animal hospital and Dr. Adas and staff were so great with my dog. My dog loved them. They could tell it was just anxiety and her being very protective over me so they asked me to step out and they just did the exam one on one and she did a phenomenal job. They started weening her off the meds and switching to something else. Which made my dog act completely normal again. A few weeks go by and She started swelling, so we took her back in to Dr. Adas, the issue was that the blip in the Xray was not from movement, it was early heart failure. Had it been caught by Brookside in May it could have been managed and treated with medication. But it had unfortunately progressed too far by this time. The fluid in her heart was leaking into her abdomen . We took her home, scheduled an in home euthanasia and spent 1 last week with our girl. August 17th 2024 was the last time I got to see the best girl. I am still completely heartbroken. My kids are still devastated. My home will never be the same. I should have left a review much earlier to help other families. But I wasn't ready to write it all out. There are a lot more details than this but I only have so many characters to leave a review. And unfortunately I can't leave less then a 1 star review. I hope that if you choose to take your pet to Dr. Damman and his crap tech, that they don't kill your family with their incompetence.

This is a very serious matter. We spent this past Sunday on the phone with 16 different vets, nobody would see the dog. Loves Park agreed to fit him in if we could get there in 40 minutes which we did. Doctor was very helpful. Explained everything that was going on with the dog drained his ear. Found out he had an infection in an ear. He told us what to expect and we are very, very happy with the service.

There are so many pets it could be 3 times bigger and they would still be busy. It turns out we have to be more attentive when checking what our pets health is doing by checking ,diet and keeping an eye on them, they can't tell us they don't feel good till its bad. She turned out ok thank god. Ive had 5 dogs in the last 70 years but wouldn't trade their love for anything. The amount of emotion these people see and still try their best is more than I could do. I pray for all the pet owners and hope we can get more places like this, and I'm looking into helping with the out side services that can help those who can't afford it. We…read moreused to take our dogs to Hononegah and that's where Dr. Adas used to work but when she switched to Frost we then also switched. The staff are very caring and attentive to your pets needs. They tend to communicate via text which absolutely works well with me. I had one dog in for a dental procedure and it went amazing. They scheduled a follow up for her so they could see how she was healing which I found very helpful. I have another of my dogs scheduled for a dental and will take two more after that. Dr. Adas is very thorough in examining the dogs, she listens, she gives great advice, and is overall a very friendly and knowledgable person. She is not at all pushy, rather she informs and lets you decide your next steps. As far as pricing, I find it comparable to other practices. Vet care certainly isn't cheap but I do not find that their fees are unnecessarily high. If you're debating on whether to take your pet here I would say absolutely try this place out. This is a place that really cares about your pets and that gives me great peace of mind.

Even though my dog was near death, (Patel told me) he kept the dog alive knowing this. For two hours he had my dog on a respirator, gave him drugs and other things until he called me with an update. I told the doc to let him go. Why did you let him suffer these past two hours? I ended up with a bill around $800. I think it was money motivated. Maybe they're better now. This was shortly after they opened. What a HORRIBLE experience! After this I checked where Patel worked before. They had similar reviews re: money and service which the pet did not need.
